- Warning!! There is a maintenance mode that can be reached from the control panel. Do not attempt this repair without putting vehicle in maintenance mode. This video is just what I did. F-150 needed rear brakes so here we go.

This was really helpful. Love the No Bullshit approach and professional approach to shooting the video from all the right angles.
Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment!
The finger lick and taste method never lies 😂😂😂😂
Never! Happens all the time! Thanks for watching and the comment!
Thanks man...I used Chanell locksto rotate
No problem man I heard there’s a road you can go to in the truck too make a go back a little easier
Good video thank you
Thanks man! There is a way to put it in service mode! Thanks for watching and the comment!
Thanks man!
No problem man I’m glad it was helpful!!
The pistons were tough to reset since the truck was not in maintenance mode and honestly you probably took some life out of those calipers but got the job done 👍 I just did a 2020 F150 and Learned about this mode the hard way myself 🤣
Yeah I found maintenance mode afterwards. Might make a short video. Thanks for commenting!
Yeah that tool to press that in is definitely the way to go. I see if you’re in a bad spot no tool OK yeah you can use a pair of needle nose. But I really think you should hang those calipers instead of letting them hang by the hose at least that’s the way I’ve always been taught
There is a service mode on these trucks as well. If I was not gonna be quick I would have hung them. Thanks for the comment and watching!
I finally got that maintenance mode I realized I was in the wrong screen
No sense in doing all that when you can put in maintenance mode. Problem solved 👍🏻
Crazy question - what if when meaning to push the electronic brake button to disengage the brake you pushed the button and now the brake piston has been extended with the caliber off the rotor?
Probably not a good thing. Try to find service mode on dash or with scanner. Then try to twist back piston. Good luck!!
Does that rear caliper still work? Watch LOTS of videos before attempting!
Yes. And I realize this is not the easiest way. Thanks for the comment!
Are the calipers the same way on manual parking brake?
Can’t say for sure. Thanks for the question.
how much to do pads and rotors all four on a 2020 f150 labor only
Not sure depends on the labor rate. 200 to 400 ish
Thanks Dylan for sharing. Does no one turn the rotors anymore? Rotors are like $75 each. Just wondering, videos show everyone using new rotors. hmmmmm Cheers from Motown.
Yeah some places do. When we work at shops we get discounts. You can always try to ask parts places for 10 % off. Worse they can say is no. Prob 15 to 20 bucks to get them turned. Orileys here used to do it. Thanks for the comment! And watching!
What exactly is the purpose of winding the piston?
I’m fairly certain that helps return the piston but maybe you don’t have to twist it on this model it would’ve definitely help to put it in maintenance mode
Why didn’t you put the park brake in maintenance mode?
Honestly because I did not really know that was a thing. Good idea. Does that require a scanner or can it be done from the hud?
@@doingstuffwithdylan4367 You can put it maintenance mode with the parking brake button and ignition key cycles. There is a few videos on how to do that.
Sweet thanks for the tip!!
Yeah dude when you put that in maintenance mode it releases the pressure to open up that piston on the caliper that is a thing I keep trying telling my dad this he won’t fucking listen and I said just buy the fucking brake pads I’ll fucking change them it’s so fucking easy
Oh, I thought it just disabled the e-brake so that some other tech can’t cut your fingers off
Do you have to bleed the break
Nope.
What did u do after knowing you didn't put it on maintenance mode.?
Nothing just did the brakes.
Oh coo I did mine and found out about maintenance mode after the I did the job, u think by not doin that my brake pedal goes go to the floor
@@juanmartinez8260 I just did rear brakes on F 150 with e brake. I didn't use the maintenance mode and just turned caliper piston in like he did. Brakes and parking brake work fine no issues.
Caliper piston does not twist on 2016 F150; need to use maintenance mode; should torque caliper bolts to specifications.
Yep, maintenance mode would’ve helped
Are the needle nose on the inside or outside of the caliper
I don't see what to grip to on mine
@@sivartrrac5819 inside the piston notches
Special tool is cheap at hf.
True but some people may not have access. Thanks for comment and watching!
It's not a good idea to let your brake lines hang down. By the caliber.
I was quick. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks!
What are you doing. You just ruined that electric caliper. You’re supposed to put it in maintenance mode and then the caliper depresses almost by hand. Your not supposed to twist it. You really should stop making RUclips DIY videos.
My dad is still driving the truck without any issues. I realized after the fact that there was a maintenance mode. Have you seen any of my other videos? There are more than on ways to get a job accomplished. Thanks for the comment. Have a good day!
@@doingstuffwithdylan4367 You should delete the video. If that electric caliper engages you could lose a finger. You have too many views on it so I’m sure others have done the same
@@clarkgwozdecki6782 I added a warning to description thanks!
