remember, she has years of experience! lots and lots of practice, trial, error, tears, and video tutorials plus ripping the bandaid and just going for the projects you’re not sure you can do, and you’ll be able to do incredible wigs too! i believe in you :)
holy crap, in retrospect it makes so much sense to give miku's pigtails BONES since that's how her model is rigged??? this came out fantastic, well done and thanks for putting your process online in such detail, that's how we all learn! :D
honestly i think the biggest thing for me with these crazy builds you do is the amount of innovation! you pull from so many sources for ideas and inspiration as well as creating these insane prototypes and armatures and it’s so inspiring, i have a really hard time problem solving on my own for costumes but it really lights a fire in me to see you not back down from any challenge and genuinely just INVENTING something when you have no choice, literally just paving a path forward. you’re amazing sarah
Hi, theater person here. We use 3m clear tape to tape microphones to our faces, which as you can guess, doing this multiple nights in a row while hot and sweaty builds up a residue. The solution to this is some kind of oil, some people like baby oil, some like olive, paper towels, and baby wipes. Get the residue slippery, wipe it off, and use baby wipes to clean everything up after. Hope this helps!!
Your idea for using elmers glue in the bangs to keep the sections separated is going to change my life, I can *feel* it. Im so excited to revamp my Miku wig in 2024
20:49 - "How you gonna keep that on your head?" - this segment was so ingenious and inspiring! The custom plastic headband with holes, + a fabric cover with grommets, plus magnets and velcro and a non-woven wig cap. Brilliant.
The engineering and time and effort that went into this wig is truly amazing, I love the extzra sporkle added to this already insanely extra wig! One weft tip for anyone reading: I use a plastic card (like a credit card type of platic card ) to spread the top layer of glue on my wefts and to saturate the hair with it, it helps me spread the glue thin and create flat and neat weft ends and is a lot easier to control for me than a brush!
when she said how the hell do you pattern that? me as a furry, "its not that hard..? 🤔" and then she came at me with the " do as the furries do" i actually laughed so hard 😂💀
Over here crying on a Saturday afternoon. You're so damn inspiring. Am I ever going to make a wig this complicated? Hell no, but how you go about solving your construction problems is so inspiring. I hope HolMat is wonderful for you this year.
god bless sarah and her miku wig videos, im making 2024 snow miku for a con next year and was actually losing my mind trying to conceptualize how im going to tackle the wig 😭🙏
What a huge project, the wig process is always fun to watch when you make it! But seriously it turned out great! Just like the strawberry miku wig, this one turned out just as good. Well done Sarah!! Goodluck with the rest of the cosplay, exited for the prop video 💙🩵🤍🩷💜
When you said if you stick to what you know you’ll never know what you can do with your own hands really stuck- I’m currently procrastinating a cosplay because it has so much new elements that I’ve never attempted(and that customs is holding some of my fabric hostage) and hearing that really gave me motivation because it’s so true
Holy Cow, This is amazing. Someone from my cosplay group send me this tutorial, because I was looking for a way to attach deer antlers to a cloak. And now I am sitting here in awe, watching someone create an industrial strengh miku wig. You are awsome keep up the good work ❤
Idk if the skills are transferrable but if you watch some doll customizers you can see how they make a part look natural with glue wefts! (Not to say yours doesn’t look natural it looks amazing and the shading really brings it next level!) they typically glue the weft flat on the wrong side then flip it over to the correct side and heat set it down (Dollightful, Hextian, Moonlight Jewel, Enchantarium are all channels I suggest if you’d like to actually see the method in action!) This wig is a masterpiece in itself! Couple that with the dress and you should be so proud of the incredible work of art you’ve created!!
I've left a comment before, but i wanted to tell you again about how your videos inspire people to create, for me, I draw a lot, cosplay seems very different for me and a bit out of my comfort zone, but your videos have interested me in this form of art a lot more! thank you for sharing the things you do, your love for creating resonates with me and a bunch of people, again, thank you! 🍓 you're amazing
I know man I wanna cry this girl is so inspiring it’s insane. She has no idea how many people she’s probably affected to create and that is fucking beautiful.
With every new video, I’m more and more inspired to be as detailed and dedicated as Sarah. She is absolutely amazing at her craft and I hope she is proud of every piece she creates. Absolutely crazy talented
god, the end of your big project videos never fail to make me emotional. watching your videos gives me so much more motivation to work on big cosplay projects again, a drive i completely lost in 2020. if it weren't for your strawberry miku i never would have compete in my first cosplay contest without my not great ex AND WON MY DIVISION. hell, one of my dream cosplays for so long has been 2019 snow miku but i always thought she was just too hard for me to do but your videos always give me the motivation to try. keep doing what you do sarah, your cosplays are absolutely amazing and your videos mean more to some than you might realize. 💕
50:08 was SUCH a magical moment for me. i knew it was going to be beautiful in the end because youre so motivated and skilled, but it's still a 'trust the process' kind of wig! and after seeing it as a WIP covered in tacky glue, then suddenly seeing THAT- I literally said "oh, thats *magical*" to myself. what a gorgeous piece of art you've made here, sarah
This is ASTOUNDING! I hope you’re super proud of it, because you have every right to be! Also, shout-out to your editing throughout, but the triumphant twirling edit set to classical music at the end took me out, omg. 😂
The range of techniques and skills that go into cosplay always blow me away... These videos inspire me a lot to. I don't make my own cosplay but im hoping to make a miku cotton doll soon , these videos help a lot !!
EBD in the background made me so happy! I also love to watch Emily while crafting. You never cease to amaze me with your cosplay! You are so inspiring!
HOLY CRAP! This is literally insane and so amazingly creative and innovative! I can barely style my own wigs and your over here creating giant, moving pigtails for a cosplay and pouring hundreds of hours into one singular part of a cosplay. I can only hope to one day be anywhere near as amazing of a cosplayer as you are! Absolutly keep doing what you are doing and inspiring people like me!
I showed my sewing mom your strawberry miku videos and she thought you were extremely talented~ and then this video came out shortly after which further proves just how skilled and amazing you are
Watching all of the problem solving that goes into something like this is so inspiring! Your videos always help motivate me to keep trying to get over my cosplay roadblocks. I can't thank you enough - I seriously think you're one of the main reasons I've stuck with this hobby, and I'm so grateful because I'm so proud of the things I've made! I even won an award at a cosplay contest (??!?) using beading techniques I learned from you! Being a maker the best feeling ever, and I have you to thank for some of that 🥰
I knew you were crazy when I saw the prototype head contraption, but I realized that you were full blown psycho when I saw the metal bolts and armature wire you added later on to the inside of the pigtails. I mean this all in a loving way because my god are you psycho for creating this beast of a wig. Hope you get all the awards that you rightfully deserve for making this thing!
i use a Delialah for my undertaker from Black Butler. It has been sitting on my wig head since April 2022, waiting to be brushed out after my last wear at Cyphacon in Lake Charles, LA.
I got all teary when the ponytails started to defy gravity!! Maybe I’m just hormonal and have had a weird day but this was awesome and so inspirational to watch ❤
For the pigtail parting on future projects what if you ripped the seam between the bones, shoved the glued wefts through the hole, sewed them in from the inside of the cap, whip stitch the two sides of the hole back together, and then heat styled them flat on the outside? That would leave no visible seam or glue at the part. I learned to do it that way from doll customizers who just cut the seam straight into the vinyl doll head.
every time I see a new video from you, I'm always scared to click on it. I'm scared, because I'm always so shocked after. I'm shocked AND inspired af. I'm like "well, i will do it now!" I'm scared of this energy and courage that goes through my mind and body. I just always feel like sewing and creating after your videos. Thank you for sharing your story. Please continue. Thank you.
you are so incredibly talented and inspiring. i'm currently doing a mia goth pearl dress and got so annoyed at the fabric that i gave up and i'm starting again with new fabric. i'm going to get this dress done if it's the last thing i do. one day i'll be doing cosplay like this! and you'll be taking over the world!
Yay! Time to watch the snow miku videos on loop as I do my sewing! It looks amazing Sarah! You are truly dedicated. This is probably my favorite project that you’ve done, because I’ve been obsessed with this miku ever since Snow Mix came out as well.
Inverted scallops are probably done the same as an inverted seam... you'll probably use LOTS of pins! But basically, line the edges up best you can and if you can make the edge look straight on the machine as you sew, you should be good. :) Also, this is AWESOME!! ❤
This is incredible!!!! Your videos always make me tear up a little bit because you make such beautiful pieces, and coming along for the journey and all the highs and lows is super inspiring to me ❤ I’ve been in a craft rut for several years at this point and these videos always psyche me up to use my hands and bring something into the world
as soon as you said installing a zipper my immediate thought was 'secret wig snacks' but i don't think that wig needs to be any heavier 😅 . Crimping gives the wig the smooth almost dreamlike vibe that suits this miku so well
Holy molyyy this whole journey I was following every step that u did and it never got boring watching you making this masterpiece of a cosplay I am soo sooooo proud of you for not giving up on it this really payed off and you can be freaking proud of yourself 🖤🙏🏻💯
I've been binging these videos while crunching for a mobile game skin design contest and honestly as a cosplayer at the sort of normie level (who's been dormant for a while for health reasons) and who can sew but not very much or very well cause it stresses me out (ill have to get over that sometime and your videos are great inspiration fuel!) the crazy crafting you can get up to and the wig styling in this video are just genuinely insane. Ive been looking up from my tablet every so often when i see stuff like the balloon or the bolted wood or any number of insane things you baked into this project and it blows my mind. Its also reminded me, as someone who pretty consistently enters the snow miku contest and dreams of winning, to prepare extra detailed ref sheets next time 😭 god forbid i end up winning at some point and make any cosplayers jobs more difficult anyways this was excellent stuff, like genuine wizardry, and its a whirlwind to watch while still being super funny and great binging material. as someone who's itching to get back into cosplay sooner rather than later but also dreams of someone cosplaying my designs one day this channel is peak design/drawing background material!!!
you’re inspiring me to make wigs like these, and i understand the pain and usually theres lot more mistakes off camera and i always make mistakes on my wigs, but i fix them and make it better the next time
i remember before my last con, i had to style a wig for sadako from the ring, and i had to find a way to make the wig look perpetually wet, while still being salvagable afterwards. i ended up just.. spraying it down with water before i went to the convention, but i considered that the most difficult wig related venture. i realize now i was VERY wrong
Nothing quite like the mad cackle of a crafter that has realized they can machine sew through something they didn't know if they were gonna be able to machine sew through
[comment being written while watching, so it's gonna be LONG] I've paused and read what your older brother wrote. My heart just melted. So cute and mindful ^^ You really are a pigtail scientist, Sarah. Holy fuck the amount of calculations and material knowledge is absurd. YOOOO YOU DID THE BALOON THINGY!!!! I've thought about this at your Strawberry Miku vid, but seemed too easy to pop. See, it popped. Dang it... THE SWIRLS!!!!! IT'S SO EXTREMELY CUTE!!!!!!! I wanna kindly pet them curls oooooooh so cute and now i'm in the end of the vid, this wig has *moves*! You look so tiny with it, it's HUGE and GORGEOUS Congratulations
You have to appreciate just how much engineering, skill and artistry that goes into this, but also, when you had the pigtail sock on the wooden structure on the wig head, it also looked a bit like a SAW trap. 🤣🤣
I'm working on a Drag-Athena Halloween costume for my roommate while I'm watching this today and your thoroughness and motivation has helped me so much!
In future for wooden parts I think you could actually use pvc pipes and then be able to bend parts into shape instead of miter corners, then you’ll be able to use pipe joints that can be taken apart for easy storage and not need as many heavy bolts to hold things together? Could even use fibreglass rods for part of it for extra sturdiness while keeping it super light
I don't even go here - I just put this on to have a video on. But you held my attention 100% the whole way through and by the end I was so astonished by your triumphant success that I had actual tears in my eyes? What a spectacular work of art; you should feel very proud of your achievement.
You have officially become my go-to comfort channel. I discovered you only days ago, but your positivity, cleverness, and spirit have been just...so healing. Looking forward to being a new life-long fan, and I hope to run into you at a con someday! Thank you for the wholesome content!
52:48 this is so real!!! The last cosplay I did I kept reminding myself of this. I did a character from an old, pretty niche video game, so I knew people wouldn’t even remember all the small details missing, and just be excited to see a cosplay of those characters because from what I could tell they had never been done before!! That did stress me out being the first one because my craftsmanship is… not great, and I didn’t want to set the bar so low… but I was setting the bar at all, and I think that’s pretty cool. I needed to remind myself that people won’t notice all the missing details they just see “OMG IVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE DO THIS CHARACTER!!” (That’s kinda all my cosplays tbh lol. The niche was “no one’s cosplayed this” makes up for my lack of craftsmanship.)
I can't wait to see the cosplay and than the dance! Even with your previous Miku cosplay I cried, and I felt it tearing me up again. Your work makes me so happy and seeing your journey making and all the trials during it makes it so meaningful. Please keep up the good work and thank you for all of your hard work.
I fall into watching these when I am doing other things, like cooking dinner, but they always draw me in because it is a whole JOURNEY and when you first put everything together to try on, just tears welling up unstoppably. You make amazing things, and this was so beautiful❤
this remains one of the coolest things i've ever seen. i've watched this video so many times and each time i reach the reveal, as the wig spins in slow motion, i'm utterly awestruck by the ingenuity that went into its creation. this is art. it makes me want to roll off the couch and create
Before I go and watch this movie length video, I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING TODAY!! I was having a very bad day. I just moved into my new apartment in a new state and city last night and found out the place is roach infested 😭 I tried to back out of the contract and even ask for a different studio and just told me that they will fix it today and continue treatment while I still live in it 😭 I haven’t started my new job yet, so I’m so broke. And the wanted me to leave the place for a couple hours to treat for pest and had me take my cat with me. Your videos give me such happiness and joy and relaxation. The fact that it’s an hour long makes it better so I can take the time to actually relax. Love you girl!! Ima watch now 😊
I would say that the tulle gives it even more of a whimsical feeling! It sorts of blurs it all and softens it which matches the cosplay really gorgeously but I bet it would work great for any other character as well! I am so mesmerized by your work and I really love the way you film while doing everything I felt it was super educational as well as immersive and I learned a lot this way. Thanks for making this kind of videos!
Hey Sarah, just a tip from the hair world, I don’t know if you’ve looked into but, for your wigs you might be able to purchase loose kanekalon hair it’s the same fiber as your wigs without the wig structure. It’s normally used in braid extensions 🤗
Use SPACEMAN55 to get 55% off your first month at Scentbird sbird.co/3MUE9Zd
why your videos always give me so much feels, they get me all teary xD
59:47 I love how she was breaking the whole house with the pigtails but the cat was just sleeping like it was nothing, just normal stuff.
I can barely style a normal wig and shes out here doing THIS thats amazing.
real
remember, she has years of experience! lots and lots of practice, trial, error, tears, and video tutorials plus ripping the bandaid and just going for the projects you’re not sure you can do, and you’ll be able to do incredible wigs too! i believe in you :)
❤ @@sprout_senior
exactly ... hahaha
I can't even style my own damn hair and you styled a 4 FOOT LONG DANCING WIG. You never cease to amaze!
holy crap, in retrospect it makes so much sense to give miku's pigtails BONES since that's how her model is rigged??? this came out fantastic, well done and thanks for putting your process online in such detail, that's how we all learn! :D
honestly i think the biggest thing for me with these crazy builds you do is the amount of innovation! you pull from so many sources for ideas and inspiration as well as creating these insane prototypes and armatures and it’s so inspiring, i have a really hard time problem solving on my own for costumes but it really lights a fire in me to see you not back down from any challenge and genuinely just INVENTING something when you have no choice, literally just paving a path forward. you’re amazing sarah
Im so excited to revamp my Miku wig in 2024
I love how we get the full range of sarah’s laughs in this vid, we get witch of the wood, we get cosplay goblin we get adorable giggle- all of em
3:13 that prototype looks like something you could get spring locked in
I never styled a wig and I think it's amazing how you can do all of this Sarah!!
Mad respect and dedication
This is like Hoover Dam levels of engineering.
I just got reminded of the pjo fandom@@KushKiki

Holy Cow,
This is amazing. Someone from my cosplay group send me this tutorial, because I was looking for a way to attach deer antlers to a cloak.
And now I am sitting here in awe, watching someone create an industrial strengh miku wig.
You are awsome keep up the good work ❤
As a furry, I’m proud of our ridiculous techniques for making stuff
I'm not a cosplayer but I enjoy watching people make their costumes. Seeing how much effort you put into your cosplays is amazing. :)

Girl , if the talent was a person of bone and blood ,you are the representation of talent , the wig are a dream come true
The fact I cry at least once per miku video you do. Absolutely amazing dude and thank you for inspiring us to create the cosplays we find impossible

that transpore tape is also what professional theatre performers use to keep their mics on their faces! amazing video ❤

For the pigtail parting on future projects what if you ripped the seam between the bones, shoved the glued wefts through the hole, sewed them in from the inside of the cap, whip stitch the two sides of the hole back together, and then heat styled them flat on the outside? You really are a pigtail scientist, Sarah.
I wanna kindly pet them curls oooooooh so cute
and now i'm in the end of the vid, this wig has *moves*! You look so tiny with it, it's HUGE and GORGEOUS
Congratulations
My husband caught that reference from the Bloom County Christmas Special IMMEDIATELY!
I was blessed to see this performance live. You KILLED it!
Aw man, that must have been wicked!
That looks amazing!!! The amount of work you put into these cosplays is incredible
DISCORD NOTIFICATIONS BLESSED US ONCE AGAIN TO SEE THIS BEAUTY
These pigtails are lovely. The swirls of shape and color remind me of ice cream.
My engineer/knifemaker brain immediately went to carbon fiber rod and kydex, but the ingenuity that went into this is incredible.
THE WIG LOOKS SO GOOD AHHH 🫶🫶
Sorry I called you "the Miku Girl" at Dreamhack, but it was super nice to see you!!! 🥰
Don’t be sorry haha! I thought that was hilarious!
Looks to me like you're headed toward another award for a Miku cosplay. Incredible job on both the wig and the outfit!
SARAH OMG so excited to watch how you tackled this wig! I absolutely love your work
CANT BELIEVE I GET TO PERFORM AT IDOL FEST WITH SNOW MIKU SARAH ♡ Excited to see you and the cosplay in person!
YES LONG VIDEO FROM SARAH!! LOVE YOU!!! ❤️❤️
The wig turned out SO PERFECT!! I can't wait to see you dance in it
The final boss of miku wigs YOU'RE SO TALENTED RAHHHHHH
I can't wait to see the cosplay and than the dance! Even with your previous Miku cosplay I cried, and I felt it tearing me up again. Your work makes me so happy and seeing your journey making and all the trials during it makes it so meaningful. Please keep up the good work and thank you for all of your hard work.
This is so well done it almost looks easy. God speed to any wig maker out there
Discord has come through for us! I'm super excited to watch while i work on my cosplay!
54:06 OH MY GOSH I AUDIBLY GASPED THESE ARE SO GORGEOUS!!!!
Every video feels like such a nice documentary and has so much love and care put into it, your a inspiration
40:25 Core childhood memory watching the Opus and Bill Christmas special ❤
I fall into watching these when I am doing other things, like cooking dinner, but they always draw me in because it is a whole JOURNEY and when you first put everything together to try on, just tears welling up unstoppably. You make amazing things, and this was so beautiful❤
I absolutely adore your cosplays and the effort you're giving to make it is unbelievable, thanks for your videos
this remains one of the coolest things i've ever seen. i've watched this video so many times and each time i reach the reveal, as the wig spins in slow motion, i'm utterly awestruck by the ingenuity that went into its creation. this is art. it makes me want to roll off the couch and create
Your actual hair in this is incredible. God those colors are so freaking beautiful.
i adore the way the swirls look and the little shiny sparkly bits are soooooo cute!!!!! looks so yummy
For gluing the hair part you can finish buy diluting glue in water and spraying it over. Ive seen this use to hold grass on dioramas and dnd maps.
This so awesome and very multi media in ONE PROJECT!
It's really cool how you look for other créative ideas when You're stuck! I would have Never guessed that traditional japanese wigcap could help !
1. the wig is STUNNING 2. YOU DID SUCH A GOOD JOB!!! wow !! blown away and inspired!
Before I go and watch this movie length video, I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING TODAY!!
I was having a very bad day. I just moved into my new apartment in a new state and city last night and found out the place is roach infested 😭
I tried to back out of the contract and even ask for a different studio and just told me that they will fix it today and continue treatment while I still live in it 😭
I haven’t started my new job yet, so I’m so broke.
Strawberry Miku ran so that Snow Miku could _FLY_
A Wish for Wings That Work was my favorite Christmas movie as a 5 year old. My parents were so confused.
Wanted to nod to the opus reference also. One of my favorite penguins.
Hey Sarah, just a tip from the hair world, I don’t know if you’ve looked into but, for your wigs you might be able to purchase loose kanekalon hair it’s the same fiber as your wigs without the wig structure. It’s normally used in braid extensions 🤗
I CANNOT BELIVE HOW BEAUTIFUL THIS COSPLAY IS!! YOU ARE SO GENUINELY SKILLED AND INSPIRATIONAL 💕💕💕💕
HOLY CRAP, this is amazing, you're just amazing
WOW! Absolutely WOW! This turned out great! Must’ve been a really hard process, but you got through it!
