      We switched from Blackmagic to Ikegamis, which perform a lot better in the studio. More expensive body, but by the time you invest in the lenses and everything else, a bit more on the body isn’t that significant.

    The Blackmagic Studio Converter
    is a perfect companion to the cam. 1 cable to control, send and receive video and audio.....just like NDI PTZ cam....perfect.
    However without a decent constant aperture MTF power zoom lens in the range of 24-200mm, the cam eco system will not sell that well.

    • @SportFlow
      @SportFlow 3 года назад +4

      That's the point. There is no real professional lens range for Micro Four Thirds. Everything looks gorgeous, but "photo" lenses.... what were they thinking?

    • @bobuk5722
      @bobuk5722 3 года назад

      @@SportFlow Hi, in some cases the optics are near identical between photo and video offerings from the same manufacturer. The difference, as I'm sure you know but others may not, is in the mechanism. This is a very low cost studio camera so it makes no sense to require expensive studio lenses. Photo lenses can far exceed the resolution required for most video work unless you are into 8k - which is a little unlikely in a studio I would think.

    • @SportFlow
      @SportFlow 3 года назад +1

      @@bobuk5722 thanks for your kind response but I think that video and photo lenses are very different. Photo lenses are not parfocal, have focus breathing, usually do not have constant aperture, have limited zoom range and are meant for big size sensors. They do not have power zoom, backfocus adjustment. the list goes on... You're right about the price of the B4 lenses in a low cost camera but you can get cheap B4 lenses second hand or the Standard Definition ones.

    Cannot understand why BMD went for MFT lens mount - backward step IMHO... There are very few power zoom MFT lenses available and they already have the EF mounts on their Pocket Cinema 6K range...
    I wonder whether it will be possible to add a EF converter and still take advantage of their new zoom and focus add-on kit?

    • @annekedebruyn7797

      They aren't cinema or videographer cameras.
      Makes no sense to treat them as such.
      M4/3 is much more adaptable for the broadcast world where things are much more standardized.
      Definitely the right choice when looking in the context of their meant purpose.
      With 'proper' broadcast lenses, you probably wont be able to use their USB focus and zoom module tho but many of them have the connectors with the respected zoom and focus modules on the lens body.
      So now you open up to the absolute entry level of motorized zoom en focus lenses up to to biggest and meanest.

      @ I'm sorry, but super 35 for live productions? I pity the camera man that has to rack focus on that.. Outside of specialty shots or very niche scenarios, I don't think that a large sensor camera makes sense for live productions.

      @@bernardopinho9179 I've actually been noticing a few mainstream newscasts lately using long lenses and/or shallow DOF. Like, background completely obliterated on a talking head location shot. I would be surprised if someone was manually pulling that vs whatever the latest face/eye detect autofocus at work. Either way it makes for an interesting shot compared to the norm.

    So I really need help with how to setup I am super new to Blackmagic and how to hook it all up... I have an Extreme Iso and I ALSO just got the 4k Hyperdeck and 4k web presenter. Am I just plugging cameras into Extreme then into Hyperdeck --> Web presenter? Hopefully get my hands on the BM studio cameras soon to go with some C70s I have. Just not sure if I still need a 4k switcher and I use the extreme as the remote switcher. thanks for all the help!

    If I had the pro models and also used current pocket cameras into my atem extreme, how do I connect the ethernet cable from the pro studio camera, what other kit would you need?
    This is really useful for long runs of cabling for great distances, instead of using fragile fibre HDMI cables?

    Why did Blackmagic Design stop making SSD storage cases? I mean, they still use Solid State Drives for the HyperDeck Studio Pro, along with SD cards. Their cases looked like the old digital Betacam tape cases from the '90s, just like some of their recorders have that retro look and design cues from that era.

    not really true. We have a small studio where musicians perform, and we would prefer low-light setups with colorful lights. Creates a much better mood. More artistic possibilities.

Perhaps just adopting what BMD has done, will save a lot of time and effort. They are way ahead of EVERYONE, and a lot cheaper.

    Still not impressed. Why didn't blackmagic studio camera 4k plus/pro go all out? High and low angle of view practicality is very bad in practical use if the viewfinder image cannot be viewed. Why doesn't blackmagic design allow the viewfinder to tilt up and down? It's going to have the versatility and beautiful angles that a studio should be. For a little while, you'll be dominating the market in this industry but you don't make it happen. Hopefully this comment the design engineers of blackmagic design will see and make it.
