About Comic Book Herald:
My name's Dave, and Comic Book Herald is a labor of love designed to help new, lapsed, and curious comic book readers explore and enjoy the wonderful world of comics. I've been developing reading orders, chronology guides, and detailed comics recommendations since late 2011. Comics can be confusing and intimidating; I try to help. - Развлечения
Just found out my grandpa has the original Amazing Fantasy # 15 copy that he kept since he was 23 lol!
you do realize one found that is in near perfect condition is worth 3.6 million dollars right...?
Your grandpas could easily be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars...
Wanted to give a quick thanks for putting this together. My dad was a big fan of Marvel growing up in the 70s/80s so I’d been somewhat exposed to it (and read some of my own), but after binging Invincible and getting really interested in Marvel again (thanks Spider Verse and the awesome Latour/ Renzi run of Spider Gwen) and wanted a place to start after I finished the large spider events and this video was great. I wanted to hit both the highlights of the past and get up to speed with current events and this video was perfect for that.
I'm getting back into reading comics and i'm currently working on exhausting my DC in take and once I do i'll move on to marvel and start that back up. I appreciate this video.
Thanks, I’m overwhelmed by the history!
5:11 Fresh start that's me. The vibrant colours & texture of comics look really cool now. The artists of all these comics use so many different & amazing art styles.
Today I bought my first Marvel comic in 40yrs. I even got covers & a backing to preserve it.
According to the book "All the Marvels" it takes about 5 years to read, well, all of them.
How many books a day?
@@connymac6993 I don't know yet. I'm waiting for my copy of the book. I'm guessing a minimum of 10 a day though. That's over 180,000 comics in a five year time frame.
@@drewtheunspoken3988 I was gonna say, 5 years isn't that bad of a timeline.
@@connymac6993 I bet that time dragged when he got to the '90s.
Dave has an interview with the author of that book, highly suggest
Doing gods work here!
hope we get an OFFICIAL glob herman reading order on CBH soon
thank you so much.
Fantastic ❤️
Ty
Awesome! I just started with the Reading Order guide with the “Road to Disassembled” list and Marvel Knights. Hopefully, I’ll find time to get caught up to modern day at some point.
I need to try DC too.
Can u help me on where to start or a better way to do this
Pliiiiiiizzzzzzz 🥺
@@shonking35The links are in the description.
Quick question, what if I want to do 25 best marvel comics 1961-2000 and then hop onto your top 100 from 1998-2015? Then maybe after that do modern start?
So basically, what if I want to do a mix of all 3 of these overall? What do I do?
There's a lot of comics I need to read from Marvel Comics.
Such as Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Incredible Hulk, Avengers, X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, DareDevil, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Thor, everything.
Plus, I need to read every Marvel event from Avengers: The Kree-Skrull War to King In Black. I already have 5 events in Collection Volumes: which are World War Hulk, Secret Invasion, War of Kings, Realm of Kings, and Secret Wars 2015. I'm going to read Secret Wars 1984, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Time Runs Out in preparation for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars in the MCU.
But right now, I'm trying to read all of the Ultimate Universe. Starting with the Ultimate Spider-Man comics.
Can you tell the order of those marvel events in order that they happen in the timeline
I got marvel super hero secret wars #1.😀👍
Best channel
What about the original captain America or the very first marvel comics from 1939? Do those comic books have anything to do with the modern timeline?
nice
I’m just glad there hasn’t been 5 or 8 big resets in its history
Can you do this with Star Wars?
Would you do the same kinda video but for DC Comics?
I'm reading everything, started with FF#1. I'm currently reading avengers 35
how long have you been reading and where are you at now?
@@SB_WZRD probably about 3 months but I've been reading other things too. I've gotten through every marvel issue from 1961 to 1966
@@penburgerwhere are you reading them? I mean physical copies or digital?
Please let me know, as I also wanna start my reading journey from the beginning.
let me know to@@penburger
are you reading it digitally or physically?
Unlike dc which started back in the 30s, marvels main runs started in the 60s, and hoenslty you can go right upto the late 90s. Past that its highly questionable. Unfortunately the 90s also gave birth to the ridiculous issies you needed for crossovers. Choose some books and strapnin for 30 years of great storytelling
DC I usually recommend people start with Crisis on Infinite Earths / after, that or Flashpoint / New 52
I still buy marvel comic books today. 😀👍
Are they still good?
@@tofu866 yes. 😀👍
@@jamesmoss3424 Weird seen people complaining that its as bad as the current MCU films 🤷🏽♀️
@@tofu866 it is weird.
@@jamesmoss3424 yea thought people would like the comics more-
Third comment!!
Just go all Hickman and then decide where to go after
With the death of Chadwick Boseman, marvel for some reason killed Tchalla also. I hate that because there’s so many awesome stories about him.
twelfth comment. what a funny word, twelfth.
First
Judgment Day?
One of the worst events I've ever read. Thats saying a lot, considering events are the poorest quality of marvel comics. Well, I wasn't able to read all of it. I bought the comics, but it was too painful to read.
Immortal Hulk is awesome.
With the standard of todays comics? Dont start. Dont waste your time or money escapism escaped about 8 years ago.
I mean there's the Marvel's comic app that costs barely anything and gets you 30k comics, definitely worth it
What escapism stopped 8 years ago?
