Jamie...you never cease to amaze me with your natural humour, the love for your family and such a wonderful passion for food. Wishing you a very happy Christmas....so glad I got to meet you in Toronto!...
This has been shortened. There's a good tip in the longer version where he says the longer you cook it on the hob before adding flour the richer the flavour, and if I'm not mistaken, he also adds port to deglaze
I use red wine but near enough the same, and yes dry as sensibly poss before adding fluids, and I use chicken and veg stock made from scratch (bought from a local company as cheaper than making it!🤷♂️😂) Turns out epic every time!👌🏻😉
Made this for Christmas last year. Best gravy I've ever had. Went perfectly well with the turkey. I made it a week in advance and froze it, so all I had to do was defrost and heat. Definitely going to do it again this year.
Thank you for all you’ve done and all you do. This Foodtube has taught me to be a better more confident cook, and is on hand whenever I need to refresh my memory on something like.. gravy! Thank you for sharing your life with us, Jamie. Right! I’m off to make gravy!!
Perfect gravy, no stress no omg I forgot to do the gravy and a cute baby... what else can you ask for in a video cook-up. Fantastic. This year (2022) I have 2 grandsons to please. I will need this gravy hack!!! they hate to wait for food so thanks Jamie, life saver.
This recipe worked brilliantly to get ahead of the busy Christmas Day lunch. I actually used the wings and giblets from the turkey on the same day I picked it up (got the Butcher to joint it as required). I was worried about making a good gravy for the big day but this was foolproof and very tasty!

Just made this gravy for the very first time - absolutely delicious and easy to make!
I made this Christmas Eve and added to turkey juices on Christmas Day and it was THE most amazing gravy. Will be doing this every year now. It really is the best 👍 Thanks Jamie
It's a good gravy, I've made it a few times with a few adjustments. Try including a few turkey parts if you do have them, such as the neck and giblets, I also use chicken stock as opposed to water. The only other thing I change is I put the herbs in at the 2nd stage when you add the liquid, I really don't see the point in adding it to the pan and roasting it for an hour when all it does is burn and there is nothing left of it. I put the garlic in with about 10 minutes left to roast, as this also burns if you roast it for an hour.
Just here to say thanks! I’ve never cooked a fully decent meal in my life - like never - but I’ve been YouTubing this channel today to cook a try and cook a Christmas Eve dinner for my new family (newborn + foreign mum-in-law) and I absolutely nailed it. Took me three hours but it was objectively delicious. Thanks! I think I just learned to enjoy cooking. Merry Christmas!
I watched Jamie Oliver making this gravy years ago, I made my own once lol and I could not believe it It was amazing but Jamie's looks delicious , lovely jubbly 😋
Doing it the night before makes it stress free. You put all the ingredients in a tray, let them cook, add water and you're done! Pretty stress free if you ask me!
i've made this two christmasses ago, its amazing!! going to make it again tomorrow for our post Christmas potluck watching this to refresh my memory get ur wings n bacon n celery n etc etc ready!
This is a Fantastic recipe from Mr one ingredient too many Jamie Oliver. Well his one ingredient you DONT want in this one, is star of anise. Not unless you want liquorice flavoured gravy. I had to throw the first batch down the sink. Other than that this is chicken gravy heaven.
Hello Jamie, We love you and your food tube channel here at my house. My boyfriend is a huge fan and follows all you guys daily. Your gravy looks delish. I had a quick question, I live in Canada and I have been looking everywhere for a nice simple old fashioned terracotta salt pig as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. The only ones I can find however are all in the UK and when I asked about shipping it was going to cost me 100 pounds which is over $150 here. Do you know of anywhere in Canada where I can get one??? Thanks! Love your cooking!
Literally anytime I'm looking for a recipe I end up using one of Jamie Oliver s ones! Like today I told myself il try something else but no I'm back here!! Basically what I'm trying to say is that it never tried one of ur recipes that has not been yummy and simple!!
To make things even better I'd grab a few of those chicken wings and strip them of meat, get a few bits of the roasted bacon, throw it all between 2 slices of fresh cut bread and enjoy whilst the gravy stews!
Go easy on the carrots and celery. If you're using the "mashing" technique you end up with a kind of carrot/celery puree which in my experience diluted and sweetened the rich flavour of the gravy.
So, just do two carrots and 2 sticks of celery like the video states? I’m making this today and don’t want to mess it up. Did you add a little extra carrot and celery?
Have just made this gravy recipe today, But, how do you get colour into the gravy, smells great but so pale, we don't have gravy Browning over here in Australia ?????
The best way I can think of getting extra colour is to add ½ or 1 teaspoon of marmite in it. Not much to overpower the gravy... think it's called Vegemite over in Aus 😀
omg lol best rtecipe and idea ever ....absolutely stellar vid Jamie!!! and your gorgeous wife and daughter made it spectacular!! and mum you should have let her try some gravy!!! lol
Ouuh my god you are just the sweetest family. And that petal is such a daddy's girl already!. God bless you all and Merry Christmas.
I have used this exact recipe for a few years now. Never fails to impress and no stress on the big day. Thank you Jamie.
This gravy is perfect to make before x-mas. I have done it in so many years now. Thanks Jamie
Love Jamie! He's such a merry chef, loving father and husband, always brining joy & enjoyment watching his show! God bless you and your family!
I use this recipe every year. Nice and easy and taste great 😋
Jamie...you never cease to amaze me with your natural humour, the love for your family and such a wonderful passion for food. Wishing you a very happy Christmas....so glad I got to meet you in Toronto!...
I make this about a month before Christmas and freeze it down, fantastic recipe and always goes down a treat.
I made it last year worth the effort I’m doing again today for tomorrow the best gravy ever thanks Jamie
This has been shortened. There's a good tip in the longer version where he says the longer you cook it on the hob before adding flour the richer the flavour, and if I'm not mistaken, he also adds port to deglaze
Good to know thank you!
I use red wine but near enough the same, and yes dry as sensibly poss before adding fluids, and I use chicken and veg stock made from scratch (bought from a local company as cheaper than making it!🤷♂️😂)
Turns out epic every time!👌🏻😉
Recipe also calls for cranberry sauce
This is true, and star anise but I swerve those!
Mine never quite looks as dark as Jamie’s. I never know why!
the fact that they both share this little cowlick in the front of their heads is just the most precious thing ever.
Made this for Christmas last year. Best gravy I've ever had. Went perfectly well with the turkey. I made it a week in advance and froze it, so all I had to do was defrost and heat. Definitely going to do it again this year.
just making some now. when did u take it out to defrost?

Not sure but it’s defrosted now 😂🙌
the year before@@xxxXHarveyXxxx
The baby is so cute!!
Baby is no longer a baby though. This was from his Christmas special a few years ago :)
Thank you for all you’ve done and all you do. This Foodtube has taught me to be a better more confident cook, and is on hand whenever I need to refresh my memory on something like.. gravy! Thank you for sharing your life with us, Jamie. Right! I’m off to make gravy!!
The best gravy ever! Have made this for quite a few Christmas dinners now.

I made this Christmas Eve and added to turkey juices on Christmas Day and it was THE most amazing gravy. Will be doing this every year now. It really is the best 👍 Thanks Jamie
Yes, I think I'll do that the day before using it. Thank you.
You have a lovely family. Best wishes for you, from Portugal.

Making this now! Every year I make it! It’s fab! Add the Turkey giblets too!
The end was my favourite..

Merry Christmas!
Oh, may I ask how come that you never cooked a full meal? I mean, did somebody else always cook for you?
I have been making this for years now brilliant 😊
I watched Jamie Oliver making this gravy years ago, I made my own once lol and I could not believe it

Then i must be doing something wrong..because mine made to this recipe tastes bland.
Thanks Jamie great video as always!
what a cute and lovely baby tnx again for the recipe
I don't know but I would imagine, a stress free gravy would involve, the adding of water to gravy granules ;)
Doing it the night before makes it stress free. You put all the ingredients in a tray, let them cook, add water and you're done! Pretty stress free if you ask me!
Fletcher902 I was only joking.
:)
But alot less flavour.
@@bazman357 Depends where you get it.

petal is such an adorable name!!
Made this today but used white wine and chicken stock rather than water ... it’s delicious can’t wait to add to the turkey juices Christmas Day ✌🏻
I also add wine and chicken stock and a little bit of cranberry sauce then reduce to burn off the alcohol and thicken.

When I transfer to the hob do I take the bones out the chicken or keep them in there.
You got enough decorations there Jamie? :P
I really need a masher... and a daughter :D
-i'm 20 though so papa's in no hurry-
assassintwinat8 cute lol
good stuff Jamie, making it right now :)
Do you take the chicken of the Wings or just leave it as is.
Cute baby!
can we replace water by stock to make sure it has enough taste or it become to salty ?
Nice
in the third world that's a luxurious dinner for the entire family.. roasted wings veges and bacon!
If I want to make half the amount of gravy do I half the ingredients or just put in less flour and water?
Now get those chicken wings and stir fried 'em in hot sauce with a handful of fries and enjoy with a plate of steaming rice.. Lovely!!

The best way I can think of getting extra colour is to add ½ or 1 teaspoon of marmite in it. Not much to overpower the gravy... think it's called Vegemite over in Aus 😀
omg lol best rtecipe and idea ever ....absolutely stellar vid Jamie!!! and your gorgeous wife and daughter made it spectacular!! and mum you should have let her try some gravy!!! lol
At what point do I add the knorr stock pot cubes?
Ask Marco
Cute and yummy !! :D
I have a ceramic electric hob, can I put the roasting tray ontop of one of those to make the gravy?
+Dann Barr Yes, as long as your roasting tray is thick enough. I also have a ceramic hob and it works very well.
Could you add cornstarch to thicken it?
