A game can have an old style and still be fluid. With that last game, the inventory system seems abhorrent, despite games like Silent Hill having better ones simply by having a button to directly access the inventory. The fade ins/outs being that long are also completely unnecessary and make the game look very tedious. Same with the door animations; You can still have the cool Resident Evil doors, but they don't have to be so slow. The reason the Resi doors were so slow is because they were a glorified loading screen. The game also is just random inventory puzzles (which don't even look fun considering the inventory system) with cliche, esoteric lore.
