I think that there is no escape is about harmful fantasy, Jimmy dreams of a life he knows he will never be able to have, and even in this fantasy world, his sadness creeps in with the death of Jane. Since he’s apparently a sick kid, it seems he will never be able to grasp what he longs to attain, and I think that’s aweful.
I played that first one today, it really hit deep. (I got the bad ending.) When I saw the crashed car I connected the dots- he’s also schizophrenic and has dementia, so it makes sense that he forgot that Jane died. But that was so incredibly hard-hitting. The fact that he keeps wondering when Jane will come home. The fact that if he was told Jane was dead, he would probably never recover. The fact that Jane was the only thing that kept him going in life. All came together to make a wonderfully-crafted game. At the end, I was wondering what monster I would have to face, and then the heart-stopping turn to himself. It was just SOUL-SHATTERING! Amazing game, would also recommend Noted Reality
