    Somebody with a bad temper used to live there. The laundry is creepy, I hope you can sort that out. Have fun fixing and cleaning and planning and decorating the house and then enjoying the garden. I don’t envy you the work you’ve put into, and need to put into making this place your home. Reminds me how grateful I am that my renting days are over.

    I see A LOT of things I like about your new place, and I can't wait to see how you guys make it your own! It reminds me of a place I rented. It was literally 100 years old with a lot of personality. But, it was clear no one had deep cleaned in ages, there were lots of outdated and/or damaged things, and then there was the matter of the dilapidated, haunted looking shed in the back yard. It took a few rounds of cleaning, a lot of patience, and luckily I was allowed to paint inside, but it was never perfect, and that was OK with me because I could feel that I was going to be happy there. And you know what? I ended up living there for 5 HAPPY years! I just wanted to share that because I know the feeling of being excited to get into a new place while also feeling dread about the things you don't love so much. I'm looking forward to following along your new home and garden journey! It's going to be great, I just know it. 🌱🌵🪴💚

      Oh my gosh, this is very encouraging, thank you for sharing this! It sounds like you had a wonderful time in your old home, loving and caring for it, and it gives me a lot of hope and motivation for what this place can become! ❤️

    Check the bathroom floor drain for source of smell.
    Builders Bog to fill holes in doors then repaint.
    I discourage gardens right up against the house, they are a white ant attractant.

    Looks like a domestically volatile relationship existed behind those walls at some time. Will be wonderful watching you breath good energy back into it. I had a backyard laundry at my last rental just like yours. I took the roof off and replaced it with clear sheeting, clad the walls with old galvanised sheets and turned it into a potting shed. The huge old cement sink was great. I just had my washing machine on my back patio near the back tap and ran the grey water into my garden and only used cold water and environmentally friendly washing powder!!
    It's hard renting because you don't want to invest too much into repairs and changes, but you still want it to be nice.
    I finally managed to buy an old brick house on a big block. It is nice to put long term ideas into place and we are working on the inside and out piece by piece!! Still much to do but love watching it evolve!!

      @the.morning.chorus  18 дней назад +1

      Yes I’m trying to not think too much about what might’ve been behind some of the cracks and holes in the walls- too upsetting. But you’re right, with some love and care the good energy will come back. Glad you finally got the chance to buy and make the house yours! Goals!

    This home looks really country cottage feel to it with a wild garden. Once you start fixing it up it will eventually feel like a home and more liveable. The front door i definitely like have a common area hallway coming in not straight away a living room. That creepy shed i suppose could turn into a green house. Yeah usually when you rent the landlord suppose to fix it up and clean it before new tenants move in. Cannot wait for more updated videos on your new home and the transformation.

    That Laundry is definitely a choice and one that was made for you. I grew up in a very old farmhouse with out buildings so I really appreciate the creepy factor, but you do kind of get used to them, especially once you start realising the properties potential and making the spaces homey (tolerable might be the limit for that laundry). I think the indoor spaces and especially that garden has huge potential. My housemate and I rent too and we just put up a back deck (with impermanent footings). I’m in charge of creating a garden from nothing, but I find it all so much fun, even the hard stuff, I’m excited to see what you create.

    the house is old and musty but no excuse for the landlord to have it in that condition. They're supposed to repair all those things, and clean the house thoroughly as well. The realestate people are slack and not doing the job they're paid to do. The yard back and front is supposed to be neat and tidy, gardens weeded etc. We rent too, and they pick on the smallest details when you're moving out. They charged us $200 to clean one skirting board and a window track, which I already cleaned, but they were rusty and looked dirty. I can't wait to see how your back garden and front patio turn out. You're a hard worker, and that's what's needed there. I hope the landlord appreciates the effort you put into the space and the house. Happy new year and good luck on your new venture.

    When I saw the laundry room, I screamed! It was giving straight up horror movie 😭 , but the house has soo much potential, infact one can become overwhelmed with all the potential possibilities. The outdoor space is amazing and all the trees and greenery? A luxury in my country. You now seem to have a lot of shade so perfect conditions to grow tropical outdoor plants. Looking forward to what you do to the space

      Haha the laundry was something else, right? I honestly wanted to throw up when I first saw it. But yup, I feel so incredibly lucky to have this space with all the existing vegetation. And definitely looking to dabble in more shade-loving tropicals. Look at me expanding my palette! 💚

    The mirror would reflect light in The right place, you should have photo all the damage in doors and any where so you don’t get charged for the damage when you move out!but the real estate would have to sign off on them!

    See lots of potential for the backyard,if you do have a jacaranda the backyard would look really nice in November.
    Laundry definitely gives of Errie vibes maybe if it had better plastering with a bit rose pedal wall paper would more inviting.
    And as for that window with bars that looked really creepy.
    Looking forward to see the progress good luck.

    There's good and there are some not-so-good things about your new place...soon to be home as soon as you erase/fix the old signs of someone else's life!!! I've been in the same situation and it's a process. The garden is going to be amazing I feel!!! And yes, that shed/laundry room has the creep factor, but then again, at least you have a laundry room 😆Thank you for sharing...can't wait for the reno and garden transformation!!!

    Very beautiful lush garden with great potential to be even more beautiful. Well the house, with a few patches here and there, will be fine and you will be laughing. It seems that someone was using the doors and walls for boxing or kicking...The laundry room gives The Last of Us vibes, someone can almost hear the subtle cracking of the wall and the roof...😨

    • @the.morning.chorus
      @the.morning.chorus  20 дней назад +1

      Oh my god it's totally Last of Us vibes! I thought you were gonna say the subtle cracking sound that the zombies make 🫣 new sound to be terrified of in there.
      But you're right, it's gonna be all good with a bit of love and care. Happy New Year to you too! 💕

  • @lindylou3519

    Can’t believe the landlord would allow it to get that way. The house needs painting, too. I think I would have to buy some paint & freshen up the indoors. It will make it feel a lot better putting your own touch to it & the walls will feel clean with a fresh coat of paint.
    Love the garden area that could be your secret garden. How fun to put a fountain back there after you get it cleared out.
    All homes have potential. Hoping you can stay awhile❤😊

    Happy New Year Sky your outdoor space has sooo much potential, your head must be spinning with ideas. Although you had no intention to move again I think the saying that everything happens for a reason is spot on in this instance. This property seems to have several varying micro climates and each will give you an opportunity to design a different planting space. The house is definitely in need of some tlc and I have no doubt you will do great things inside too. Take care and I look forward to your next update

    Doors are super hard to fix if there is not an inlay panel. You can always try to fill, putty, and paint your way out of it -- obvi only cosmetic and not really functional. Sounds like you should just take that one hallway door off the hinges and just leave it open.
    I've lived in plenty of houses like your current one in my uni days -- the front door immediately into the living room took me there 😂. Cleaning and lighting help a lot... My old houses almost never had overhead lighting, so everything was always so dim and it just made everything look dingy and untidy.

    Mirrors mirrors mirrors to reflect light and help with the shadowed light of your interior. How about removing the doors with holes…do you really need them? Store them in that crazy shed. You will feel soooo much better when everything has had a good cleansing scrub. Careful with vegetation close to the house if rodents are a concern :( mind you they must love the shed eeeek
    Looking forward to seeing your progress :)

    OMG, you can have the most famous laundry room in the world. You could put a picture of "It" behind the screen. Write on it, "It" lives here, and charge for admission! Mind you, I wouldn't be stopping by anytime soon but just imagine all the freaks that would be knocking at your door! Seriously, the house just needs your gentle touch, and it will be beautiful. Over here the landlord would definitely have to fix the doors and the hole in the wall, etc. Maybe even serve "It" with an eviction notice. I hope you get some help from them. And that yard! Yep, I sure can see the beauty in that. I'm happy that you see it also. xxo

    I'm sorry, but is this the state you usually rent houses in in Australia? Broken doors and walls? Dirty and broken down? Making the RENTER fix that shit? I don't mean to be a Debby Downer but I know you had to move fast from your last video, so I feel like this was a panic move - which is totally understandable given the circumstances. But tbh, I wouldn't settle in this ex-drug den looking thing and only use it as a transitional house (not even home) and get right back on the house search but with more time this time around.
    Maybe I'm really just spoiled by Germany and our living spaces when we rent and this is just normal over there. All the broken stuff just REALLY baffled me. Pls educate me, I don't mind.
