- In this live stream I took a look at the Super Console X Pro. 🤢 An emulation device that has over 117,000 Games. Why? Well, keep in mind I also own a LJN video art and a CDi. It was good for a laugh.

MSX was an open standard, not a brand. There were the MSX 1, 2, 2+ and TurboR standards and almost all Japanse, Korean, Taiwanese and a few European + Arabic electronic brands in the 80 built models for it, including Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Sharp, Philips, Sanyo, etc. The 2+ and TurboR models are pretty rare, MSX2 is the sweet spot for most games. All are backwards compatible, i.e. you can play MSX1 games on a MSX2.
All versions support cassettes and have at least 2 cartridge slots, most MSX2 and later versions had 3.5” FDDs. There are also a lot of expansions for it, for example the FM-PAC (OPLL2 like the Genesis) audio expansion that many (MSX2 and newer) games use and became part of the standard hardware with 2+ and newer.
There are many bad ZX Spectrum ports for the MSX1, since they are pretty alike, but also some really gems, mainly anything from Konami. The MSX2 is way more fun with very complex games, but is lacking horizontal hardware scrolling, it only has vertical hw scrolling. So most games don't use or have jerky horizontal scrolling, although some games actually pull it off.
MSX2 gems are, again, Konami with Vampire Killer (aka Castlevania), Metal Gear 1 and 2 (completely different and way better than the NES versions and made by Kojima himself, he also made Pinguïn Adventure for the MSX1), SD-Snatcher and Snatcher, tons of schmups like Gradius/ 1, 2, Nemesis 1, 2,3, Parodius, Salamander and Space Manbow, Contra and action puzzlers like Kings Valley 2 (with level editor included, kinda like Mario Maker, custom levels are the most fun), Usas.
Please note that some games have MSX1 and specific MSX2 versions, make sure to play the MSX2 versions if you can. Other great games for the platform are YS 1,2 and 3, Fantasm Soldier 1, 2, XAK 1, 2, 3, Fray, Aleste 1, 2, Psycho World (with smooth horizontal scrolling for example). And there are tons of really awesome ultra high quality fanmade/homebrew games from the EU and Brazil from the 90s and even later. They sometimes do stuff rhought impossible for the system, including way cool 90s demo-scene stuff.
If you ever wanna play stuff, make sure to try & download the English versions for some of the Japanese language based games like Snatcher, XAK, Fray, etc. Also: many of the mentioned (MSX2) Konami games actually originated on the platform or are the first home computer ports for it. You do need to so some research into the games, there are tons of jRPGs and complex action games besides lots of puzzle games and shooters.
Give me a ping if you want me to send you a more extended and sorted list with remarks and emulator config tips by mail or alike if you plan on doing a stream.
Thank you for this amazing comment. It’s a comment like this that makes doing these streams even more worth it.
I have an MSX2+ I believe.
I have a real copy of castlevania and a flash cart. I haven’t streamed it at all yet because i havent sat down to test it out. Its been on my “to do later” list for a long time.
I’ll have to do Aleste when I get to it. I need games that are.. my type of games.
@@mikematei Awesome. A MSX 2+ is really awesome to show of all interesting games without needing expansions. Most of the games can easily be downloaded in bulk archives, many even legal, cause they're abandonware. As said, I could make you a short list of games you might like and are suited for streaming, grouped by type and with a short discription for each, I've been following you long enough to have 'some' idea :) Just ping me whenever feel like doing so !
There's some great shmups on MSX 1 & 2:
Aleste 2 by Compile
Space Manbow by Konami (surprised this wasn't an arcade game)
Undead Line by T&E Soft (the original version)
Laydock and Super Laydock
Zanac EX
Guardic (prequel to Guardian Legend)
You should play Konami's Maze of Galious. A fantastic metroidvania

And the first game produced by Hideo Kojima , Penguin Adventure

Playing 117,000 games for one minute each (not counting the time needed for switching games, breaks, sleep, etc) would take over 81 days.
Then trying to beat every single game would take longer especially like Zelda or final fantasy would probably take years to complete them all well worth your money thou
Love this comment
That sounds like a challenge
That's less than 3 months!! I expect Mike to have tried them all before Christmas
That's a lot of intro videos
Just got this thing for Christmas, one of the best presents I’ve gotten in years. The arcade ports are what gets me ramped up the most. WWF Wrestlefest, Narc, Aliens, Popeye…holy shit!!!!
Basically a Raspberry Pi with pre loaded ROMs running on Retroarch. I gifted one of this gems to my nephew to introduce him to retro gaming. He’s super happy with it!
I own one kind of like this one called the AD1900 Arcade Box. It's got about 50 emulators and 33000+ roms. I already know how to set up emulators and stuff on PC, but this is a convenient and quick solution if you just wanna play real quick with no hassle.
the dialogue at the beginning of this video had me rolling, i know a few people that can check that off their list lmao
So true lol
You know a console is quality when it comes with a controller that weighs 1/16th of an ounce.
You'd think it would be heavier with all those games in there
Its just because one have a rumble feature and the other not
That “Fat Sonic” had me rolling! How do you gain weight if you’re still running?! 😂😂😂
Those chili dogs gotta go somewhere ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That game was made for Furries. It's always a sex thing with them.
They all want to watch Fat Daddy Sonic make thick warm in RoseChu.
I don’t know why I enjoy seeing garbage games so much, but I do! I’m still holding out hope for more Color Dreams games.
I want to eventually play all of those.
The Doom port was really smooth - so compared against other consoles it's probably the best port, since all consoles were ports of the PC anyways. The arcade Simpsons game is nostalgic af. Cool device.
Ps mini is faster still
You're absolutely right, if you're a serious retrogamer, _Everybody_ should have a Vectrex in their collection! 😎
I saw one for 50 bucks and didn't have the money for it at the time and when I went back It was gone :'(
If you're a serious retro gamer emulate don't hoard
@@purplehaze2342🤦 serious retrogamers aren't going to emulate much, especially with a system like the Vectrex.. There is no emulating that properly, unless you're running it through a vector monitor. That's just one system where only real hardware will do. Just because some of folks prefer using real hardware, doesn't mean they're hoarders.. Hoarding is never a good thing.
@@R3TR0R4V3 why would you want to play on a vextrex, I'm a serious retro gamer I sold all my junk and I'm more than happy with using some superb emulators and front ends.
OK mate I own 9 Consoles from NES to PS4, but having a 1960's piece of shit will really get me in the 'Club' 😆 😂
Neo Turf Masters is one of my favourites and I am also not a big sports / golf person.
Thanks!
Thank you. Appreciate that.
No problem. Great channel.
I got this back in May, it is SO much fun. Especially with my kids.
If you make a retro achievements account as well, it gives all your old games fun achievements to strive for. I LOVE IT.
that goofy cheetaman music going when you were describing this thing is perfect
I wondered if this was the actual music of the menu 😂
That music is tripping me out 😂😂
Sometimes I forget how funny Mike actually is. That intro was hilarious stuff guys. Fantastic.
Hotdamn! I feel like I could fuck a bus!
Dunno about the console, but put me down for one of those casts. Dinner table needs a new leg.
Lol the opening of the video is GOLD! Mike, my man 🤘😜
When the video started with Cheetahmen 2 BGM, I knew I had to watch this whole video just too see what kind of feces was coming up.
Mike, when you launched each of those Zelda 2 hacks for NES (that all had the same name), their unique file name popped up on screen for about 1 second right as the games would load. You had to be quick to see the pop up, but if you look for that pop up you would be able to see the unique name of each hack.
Tarzan on GBC is all I've ever wanted in life. Don't judge me, Mike
I got the Super Console X Cube, because I was so desperate to relive my childhood. I tell you what, when this thing works it is an absolute dream come true. Sadly, this console is the definition of inconsistent. I was happily playing games last night, but it has now decided to piss me off, since none of the buttons on my controller work when I fire up a game. I can go through the game selection menu just fine, but as soon as I fire up a game, it is like the controller freezes and none of the inputs work.
Mike is on the money when it comes to these things. Yes, it is exciting to have all these games available to play on your TV. However, the problems you can run into when it comes to these gimmick consoles can lead to more frustration than playing the hardest NES games. I am hopeful that they will get this right 10 years from now, since the premise of these consoles is brilliant. It is just a shame the dodgy execution really drags the enjoyment down.
Try a mister

My boss used to be a DJ, and played Sandler's "Medium Pace" for some office event party. They were slow dancing for a minute...
until "you see that shampoo bottle" I assume
I bought one of these Super Console X things and I love it! I highly recommend it. Works great out-of-the box.. and worth the $200 or so just to have it all set up and working. The only thing I worry about is the SD card going bad, rendering the system useless.
just buy a spare sd card and copy the sd card in this onto the spare sd card.
I have this as well and as long as you have a good arcade stick or controller then it is pretty fun. The included wireless fake ps2 controllers are horrible. You definitely need to know about emulation and how to configure the options properly. You need to do a lot of fiddling.
Is yours like his with the 117000 games on it? If so where can I get one cause I've looked and all I see is ones with 50,000
@@repomanzilla why would you need so many games (aka repeats)
@@repomanzilla no mine doesn’t have that many games. Honestly the more games then the more crap you will have to funnel through. You can also search for other emuelec builds to flash to the sd card that have the games you want. Just go for the cheapest one you can find.
If you're holding it on the tip of your finger, it says a lot about the weight 🤣
Ive been using the Pro version with my AtGames Legends Ultimate for about three months now and gotta say I’m having a blast. No noticeable lag on my end and the interface is fine for the CPS and mame games. The controllers are made of black Chinese cum plaster but seems fine for casual use only
Chinese cum plaster 😂😂😂😂😂
You can pretty much eliminate the lag in a lot of games by using the Run Ahead feature in Retroarch (assuming it's in the version of Retroarch being used on the X Super X Console X Pro X X).
Thank you Mike for putting this little device out there. I know you might talk shit about it but like seriously, some of us have lost our ways in the past and have lost our original consoles and have regretted every single second of it. Sometimes when it comes to our action figures when we were younger. But no doubt, you cannot put a price on nostalgia value when it comes to trying to ease your mind and playing something when you were a kid. You can own all the games in the world in physical form. But you cannot put a price tag on a person's mind of nostalgia. No matter the lag. It's always good therapy to put a older gamer who does not have the capabilities of owning these titles. Not trying to say please stop talking shit about us who are trying to still make it in the world. Us hard-working folk. But please recognize that there are blue collar who watch you and literally love you and James for what all you do. You work as hard as us. I just bought this stupid little device but, you were the one that advertised it. I can't wait to play GoldenEye
I streamed it because I thought it would be funny. I don't personally recommend it. But do what you like.
I consider myself a gamer as much as mike and James. This is the exact product I’ve been looking for and I bought one after watching this video and am enjoying it. I guess for these guys they are knee deep in options they have a diff perspective on how things compare.
@@mikematei well I appreciate it. I just don't have the finances let alone the room to get all these retro consoles. But I mean come on it has to be better than the at games Sega Genesis. LOL that thing is a monumental piece of shit
I have never heard of this console until I look up on Amazon for $150, said "oh, it's one of those kind of console built in over 117,000+ games?"
I remember getting fatal fury for snes. It had great music 🎶
I farted on my cat's face and he looked at me disappointed like I was playing WaterWorld for Virtual Boy on a Super Console X-Pro.
😂😂
The controllers for these things are always shit but if this thing lasted years I think it would be worth it
Mike is the real life AVGN…
Still the best streamer in the game!
“Now leave me alone while I play Waterworld on Virtual boy…on super pro x ”
This seems to be a pretty standard retropie setup, so it's no better or worse that what you'd get with a regular Raspberry Pi etc. Getting your own Pi is always cheaper; but there's always the hassle of fetching ROMs, installing stuff and making custom categories (I'm sure there's a way around that if you're savvy enough to be using pre assembled packs of games and frontends, though.) Can't deny the convenience offered if nothing else.
Mine has it's own dedicated external drive, so that's another cost factor to be considered, too. A cheap 64GB thumb drive won't last very long as soon as you start adding things like PSX and DC into the mix.
That said, I know for a fact you can get ones (non RP-based) that do actually have 3DO, GC,PS2, Wii emulation - but even then you should temper your expectations and they're *NOT* cheap whatsoever.
What I am impressed with is that they have a pretty packed list of OpenBOR stuff (assuming it even all runs.) I remember running BOR games on the original Xbox and it was always pretty hit or miss what would work.
I agree nothing is better than the original console. Before I had kids I had alot of disposable income and I hit alot of yard sales, flea markets, and used game stores. I have 22 different consoles...but the problem is games. I only have like 2000 games. And now my income is a little tighter and downloading roms on my pc takes forever...I have like 5000 after hours and hours. For just the collection to move to my pc and then have a goofy little device that will play everything on tv #4....I'd say that is worth $100 easy.
Wild Woody just kept rubbing his red swollen ball sac on everyone lol
I....I...kinda want one of these...ehhh it might be laggy but the options are fantastic and the games SEEM to at least work. Now are all these preloaded on there right from the box? Or is programming needed?
All preloaded
@@AzrialAlaria SAWEEEEET much thanks! this is most def happening
Let me tell you a secret. There are over 117,000 other universes where Mike makes reference to one particular game from all of these titles. For example, there is some other world where he constantly brings up Zelda, much like he always brings up Circus Charlie here.
I have one final request man. Kings Field for PS1. The precursor to the soul games and one of my all time favorite games. Check it out if you get the chance.
Mike, good points on the2600. More important is how the games did visual tricks based on updating memory while the tv beam was tracing across the screen.
Isn't the FM Towns the same as PC Engine and both are very similar to Turbo Graphix 16CD? The word Marty comes to my brain for some reason.
It's best you get the 117000 Tf card for the Super Console X King because the Super console X Pro uses the S905X which is still too weak to handle certain games that requiring additional processing powers that are included on the AtomisWave, Taitio's F3 system and Midway games such as Crusin USA, Off Road Challanges and Primal Rage. The Super Console X King uses the S922X which is more efficient.
47:38 I love Mike's disdain for the default npc behavior loop. ^_^
This is a treasure if your´re a kid living in a remote place like Tristan da Cunha
The "X" is for X-TREME!!!!! created by Dan Cortese.
I have this one. Being able to try out all the bowling, billiards and golf games. Fantastic. I've played it a lot. Good for playing all the old RPGs I dont want to look for. The controller has worked fine 2 years now.
I didn't see the Vectrex game, I don't remember the title, where you have to prevent a kid that looks like Ralph Wiggum from being pantsed. If you failed too many times they had a guy on your block come to your house to try to kick your ass. I say try because these sort of things were unpredictable with technology in the 80s. You know? Vectors and whatnot.
Before watching this better be a video of you playing all 117,000
I played every single one in this stream twice. Complete playthroughs of all.
56:45 I literally laughed myself to tears here.
The technology isn't without its flaws and cut corners, but higher quality examples of devices like this (and I believe this is one of the better ones, though not close to top tier) are certainly interesting, and a good bargain money-wise if you don't feel like/have the time/technical know-how to put all this together yourself on a PC, or can't afford to physically collect the original media of these retro games and consoles. And honestly, one day all the old games and consoles will stop working, and all that will be left are the emulators and ROMs, so really this kind of stuff is in a way video game history preservation, even if some of the companies capitalizing on it are cheap or a bit sketchy.
well i would say it's good for people who are scared of computers. downloading emulators and roms doesn't really require any time (except download time for big roms, only on later consoles) or technical know how. setting up the controller is the most thought you have to put in. i would say this thing is worth it if it was half the price or less. as is, it's the same price as a computer that can do the same thing but without all the extra functionality of having a computer. even just speaking emulation, on a computer you can download new romhacks when they come out
This was one toxic ass stream. I thoroughly enjoyed most of it.
😂
Thank you for the wonderful clip. I hope that you will work on articles and the best simulators
The pnanasonic 3do bit really cracked me up! Nice stream 🙂
The real angry video game nerd hahaha
I got one of these, i need to fix it and also my ps classic as well. I miss playing it, need to add more games to my retro gp430 handheld, also to fix the buttons on it.
I got this bad boy and more and love playing all the Retro Games 👍🏾💪🙏🏽
Nintendo: Hello Lawsuit
*Rubs hands together fiendishly*
"...I got it up again... for one second..."
It looked like there was an option to adjust for latency -- maybe with a few minutes of tweaking (and know when to switch emulators) this could be a perfectly good, working system??
I'm seriously considering it if for nothing else replacing/backing up my Amiga, Commodore, and Intellivision.
Anyone remember Nesticle? The pinacle of icon design.
I love how they made this beautiful menu and all that. And then you start the game and it turns out that it's just RetroArch.)
What’s wrong with retroarch?
Wild Woody is a strangely fascinating game that was one of the very last titles released for the SEGA CD in 1995. It's pretty innovative for it's use of computer animation for cutscenes considering it's still just a 16 bit machine but the animation is hideous. Even for 1995. It didn't do very well and it's a pretty rare game now. It sells for gangbusters.
It's one of those oddball SEGA titles I'd love to see brought back in a Genesis Mini 3 or similar. Along with the entire 32X library
This stream was pretty cool. I like when you pick random games and try them out.
This console is what brought me to your channel. I love it! I believe this console does a great job giving me all the 8bit and 16bit games i could ever want. I have had mine for 2years and still haven't even started to play all the games that interest me. I actually have to use a notepad and pen to keep track of what i have played and want to play in the future. Hope you like the super console x because i do very much. Thanks for the video
I feel like there's this angry nerd who plays video games that would be interested in seeing this console.
Man I wish I could catch more of your streams. :< Love ya Mike!
Wholesome entertainment at its absolute finest as usual, thanks Mike. tbh this console isn't half bad, its not great but its way better than some of the other one's i've seen, most of these games at least work properly.
I just realized that's the Cheetahmen Genesis BGM, perfect.
They all run pretty smooth, just don’t try to save your games.😏
I got the X3 Pro and it looks like they took out the fmv clips on a lot of the PlayStation games. So, buyer beware. The games can be replaced to fix that. There is probably some way to get the image of the SD card onto a larger SD card so you can have room. This console needs some mod work.
It looks like it is on just the Playstation games. The other ones seem to have all their content.
You're right about why would anyone play the Neo Geo CD these days, except for one thing: The NGCD actually has a number of exclusive games. These games never made it to the AES/MVS for one reason or another. The highlight of the bunch might be a shmup by the name 'Ironclad'. Frustratingly, this is a game I am not able to get working on my emulation set-up for some reason. It's too bad too because the Neo Geo was capable of some glorious looking shoot em ups, and anything on that console which isn't a fighting game is a breath of fresh air as far as I'm concerned.
Good point about the exclusives.
@@mikematei Daddy Mike is the only exclusive we need. That and Fat Sonic.
That Nova game looks like Halo.
Btw, would love to see you stream that; I think it's about time!

Really digging your hardware review here. I loved the xbox classic for emulation, on a crt. Was very authentic.
Similar to me my lag test games whenever I get a new TV or try a different emulator is Mike Tyson’s Punch out or Metal Storm on expert. Would be cool to see you take on that mode it’s pretty damn extreme
I bought the SD card after having the 50k model, I may even use it to build my new Batocera collection.
Atomiswave and Niomi is Dreamcast software but in Arcade form 🙏🏽👍🏾
Hey Mike, is there lag on every system or just the NES?
Youd imagine the more advanced systems having more trouble. NES is fairly simple in modern times
@@ducko5404 Could be the controller. On my Wii there was lag on the homebrew with the wiimote. Switched to a wired GameCube adaptor with oem controllers and no more lag.

I upgraded my card to a 512GB Sandisc card and i put all the games for PS1 and Dreamcast etc and all the Handheld and console games i scrapped the Box art, Screen shot and video and the old computer games i just scraped the Boxart and screen shot. I use 8Bitdo controllers.
I’ve had a Raspberry Pi system I got from Korea for four years.
But does it have Famicom and Hacked games? Nope….🤔

Get on it!!!
I've got one of these sat behind the TV in my sitting room (next to a SNES mini) I even turn it on once in a while.
I still like saying "Regular Nintendo"
does this console comes with cheat codes built in?
Do you recommend this,mike?
Actually yes I do. It’s good for what you get.
I hate how pricey PVMs are. I had to settle on a standard Trinitron computer CRT. I use it for my Windows XP box, my MiSTer and have an extron scaler for all my composite stuff, all in one place. And, then a regular CRT TV for when I want light-gun action.
I like your weird and unique sense of humor lol. Keep making videos man
Amazing video🌟✨ I love it 💖 Thankyou so much Mike 😏👍
Pokemon mini was pretty cool, it was like a mini game boy with a trigger button on the side and shake controls, which are fun. I think it was technically the smallest handheld console.
The quality of these are amazing for what you pay for honestly. It's got nothing but good reviews. There's nothing to complain about. Back in the day this would have been insane. It's almost like a rasberri pi. Some of these china ones are bad.... But not this one.
There is a Circus Charlie on NES too. MSX one looks similar.
