A Genesis controller works fine on most SMS games. To make it work on all of your games, do the following mod: open the controller, then clip the gray wire that goes to the buttons. Now it will work with all of your SMS games (but not all of your Genesis games).

Did you know the Master System was released in Japan as the Master System after the MKIII but with the add-on FM sound module add on built in (upgraded music in games).
@@pferreira1983 interesting. The only reason I say 'Master System' is the old Japanese TV commercials you can watch on RUclips, which specifically say Master System for ¥16,800. Did the name change again in Japan?
actually that's incorrect, in Brazil TEC TOY, the company that produced the SMS for Brazil in the 2000s actually made a game in 2003 called 20em-1, it was Action 52 but somehow worse. lol
The hardware in the game gear is almost chip for chip that of the master system. There is even an official sega adapter to play master system games on a game gear, I had one back in the early 90s. Many of the later master system games, like mortal kombat, are ports of game gear games and by port I mean putting the rom in a master system cart.
And the game gear has a start button. That's why so many of these games said "push start". They were originally game gear games that maybe got a release on master system in brazil.

the Game Gear was basically a portable Master System so naturally it looks like that version, just with more screen space to play with. Didnt bother with the blood code then I see, always used to play it with the blood & fatalities on back in the day on my Master System & loved it. MK3 was by Tectoy who have kept the Master System & Megadrive alive, think they are still going strong with them to this day
The original arcade version of The Ninja/Sega Ninja was called Ninja Princess and you played Princess Kurumi who was royalty but also a ninja. I don't know how well it played but having a girl as the main character in a game wasn't that common in 1985. Obviously, there had already been Ms. Pac-Man but Ms. Pac-Man wasn't a human ninja warrior, she's just a circle with a triangle mouth and lipstick.
There were a few games not on there like battlemaniacs, captain silver, chuck rock 1, cloud master , micro machines, and many Japanese games like rygar and Brazilian games too.
It was great watching these SMS streams since it was the console I grew up with. Seemed like a ton of games than I remembered being released, so it made me bust out wikipedia and see the US only had about 120 games released for it. The EU had over a 150 more released on its own. I think most of these were Genesis or Game Gear games ported given the release dates after 1990, like Mortal Kombat, Streets of Rage and the Sonic games. Only Sonic 1 ported in US to the SMS. I think I saw someone else note a lot of games were ported for Brazil SMS only by that TecToy company. The more you know... Thanks again for the trip down memory lane!

Scrolling through the comments, I'm surprised I've only seen one person mention that the glitches you're seeing in some games is because they were meant for PAL region. In fact, pretty much all Master System releases after Sonic the Hedgehog didn't see a North American release, since the console flopped here, but was a big it in the UK and Brazil.
