The Holy Spirit is a Person. He has a mind, will and emotions. He lives in us to those who genuinely accepted Jesus Christ. He changes our hearts and helps us walk in righteousness. He is gentle, kind and patient. He is our helper, comforter, convictor, our guide and our teacher. He is 100% God.
The Bible literally teaches nothing about the Holy Spirit having a mind, will, or emotions. It certainly doesn't teach anything about the Holy Spirit living in Christians. It teaches that _Christ_ lives in the Christian _through_ the Holy Spirit.

The Online Watchtower library says this: " Other evidence of its impersonal nature. Further evidence against the idea of personality as regards the holy spirit is the way it is used in association with other impersonal things, such as water and FIRE." Hebrews 12:29 says, "Our GOD is a consuming FIRE." Watchtower logic is so bad that by their own very poor reasoning skills they will have to admit that Jehovah is NOT God because he is associated with impersonal things such as FIRE. 1 Cor. 3:17 doesn't say anything about the Holy Spirit being the Lord or even a person. It only teaches that a Christian's body is God's temple, and that God will destroy whoever defiles His temple. In fact, the verse before it shows that the Holy Spirit is what makes a Christian a living temple for God. God consecrates the Christian's body for His own use _through the Holy Spirit_ like a rancher would mark their cattle with a brand.
Ask a JW as to how the holy spirit spoke. Acts 28:25....“The holy spirit aptly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your forefathers Were these audible words coming out from heaven?
The trouble with people understanding the trinity is they think "person" means the same as we consider individuals a person. But, even humans have a body, a soul, and a spirit but are one person.

The Holy Spirit is Holy and Spirit, the Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of God, in Scripture. A person is a human being, do you mean the Holy Spirit has personality, do spirits and the Spirit of God have personalities or personhood? I find it very confusing, but what I do agree upon is that God is the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit. I am not a unitarian or a JW. Isn't the Holy Spirit the Spirit of God and the same Spirit that is in Christ? Why did Jesus need to go to Heaven in order for the Holy Spirit to come to us? Because if as long Jesus was here on earth the Holy Spirit would be in Him but now that Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father the Holy Spirit can come to us?

My understanding NOW .. having grown up in the church but now searching through scriptures myself, is that the Holy Spirit is not a person. The H.S is the spirit of God and of Christ in a person. 1 Corinthians 3:16 states this when it says "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?". Hebrews 10:15-17 also shows that the Holy Spirit is God the Father's as it says" And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,” then he adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” 1 Corinthians 2:11 say "For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.". 2 Corinthians 3:17 "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.". When Jesus walked among us, He received the H.S from the Father when the spirit descended on Him in a bodily form like a dove in after the baptism. He rejoiced in the H.S before the 72 and he breathed on the disciples after the resurrection and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit". I do not know if they received it, perhaps a portion because later on He says "..But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses.." and after Pentecost scripture says they were "all filled with the Holy Spirit". The H.S we have in us is the spirit of the Son who Himself had received it from the Father. The H.S is a gift as Peter stated in Acts 2:38 that "... and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.". Romans 8:9 says "You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.". If you look at the letters after the Acts of the Apostles, they typically begin with greetings that mention God the Father and Jesus Christ, but they do not explicitly include the Holy Spirit. Even the after the instruction of Matthew 28:19, the apostles in the Book of Acts,are often described as baptizing "in the name of Jesus Christ." Grieving the Holy Spirit is grieving Jesus and the Father because it is the same spirit."For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body-Jews or Greeks, slaves or free-and all were made to drink of one Spirit." He , the H.S of our God and our saviour, links us all together for all of us who believe in the Christ, are "sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it" and that's what makes us ONE just as the Father and the Son are one. That is why Paul can say "he grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all." Forgive the long post and any errors, grammatical or otherwise. This is my humble opinion based on what I read in the bible. I agree with you. You see in Joel 2:28 the scripture says God will pour out His spirit. He does not pour a person. The Holy is also describes as wind. John 3 (NKJV) ⁷ Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' ⁸ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit." And this verse is confirmed on the day of Pentecost. In the nicest way possible, I think you’re being a bit eisegetical in your investigation. Take a listen to what the verses provided in the video say and compare them to your own conclusions-there will be some clear differences.
@@jty1999 Out of approximately 300 verses that mention the Spirit - with a capital "S" in reference to the Spirit of God or the Holy Spirit, the few that are used to make a case for the Holy Spirit as a distinct individual person apart from the Father or the Son is the very embodiment of eisegetical I would say. I believe the bible is simple and should be taken at its word. If for instance, it says " in the beginning was the "word" - no capital letters or footnotes or concordances or presuppositions, agendas or biases - and then we look at scripture that states what transpired in the beginning - Genesis 1:3 that simply states "And God said ...". It is a no brainer. He said it Himself when he declared "So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."~Isaiah 55:11. The bible references the Holy Spirit as "He" using personification and pronouns as a literary device.Here are some examples: Folly: "The woman Folly is loud; she is seductive and knows nothing." Wisdom: "Wisdom cries aloud in the street; in the markets she raises her voice." Taking the whole bible cover to cover, in the beginning The Holy Spirit hovers over the face of the waters but at the end, the bible does not provide a detailed account of the specific role or location of the Holy Spirit after the second coming of Christ. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father sent to testify about His Son in His name. He is is a seal and guarantee of our inheritance in Christ serving as a teacher, guide, a convicter of sin, righteousness, and judgment, a sanctifier, an intercessor, an empowerer and a giver of spiritual gifts. As a side bar, a question was asked within our early teens youth group that I had never given thought to - "if The Holy Spirit is a different person from YHWH our Father in heaven, then how is God the father of Jesus and not him?".

This is why we say God the Son, God the Father, God the Spirit. The nature of the trinity is complex and a difficult thing to grasp. Does the Father love the Son? Obviously. But saying “only begotten Son” doesn’t mean “only child,” especially considering that a human can become a “son of God,” but rather that Jesus is species-unique because there is no one like God. Equating Spirit to personification like Wisdom doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense since the Spirit moves and does things in both testaments when the personifications in the Old Testament are used to describe attributes or characteristics of God. That’s a bit like saying, “If an employer hires his son who becomes his employee, why aren’t all the other employees also his children?” That’s not meant to represent the Trinity obviously, but just to point out the illogical nature of that rationale. Put it this way, Abraham and his descendants did not know about a trinity. The clarification of the Holy Spirit as a distinct person is given by God the Son as much as the clarification of God becoming man was clarified through Jesus’ literal virgin birth, his ministry, his death and his resurrection. But if you’re going to deny what Jesus has to say about the Holy Spirit, you might as well deny Jesus’ deity while you’re at it and call God the Son a liar, thereby making the triune God a liar. The formulation of Trinity can’t be eisegetical because there’s no personal motivation to read that into the text. You may or may not know this, but many Jews before Jesus’ time came to believe in the “two-powers in heaven theory,” which suggests a binitarian view of their monotheistic God. The most common version of this belief back in the pre-Jesus day tended to believe in…God in heaven and God the Spirit. This is from their own observations of the Hebrew Bible. Do with that what you will.
Some points I'd make, as I disagree only in part. - The spirit of God is not a distinct person from the Father. The spirit is the Father as per the below verse: Matthew 10:20. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. - You have made some references to some translations that show translation bias. As you would be aware, the Greek language has genders for words. In the Bible, there are 3 main words used for the spirit: Ruach = Feminine Pneuma = Neuter Parakletos = Masculine The verses you referenced translate the pronoun as a masculine "He," but the noun is Neuter. So the correct pronoun would be "It." This also applies when using the pronoun "who/whom" to the spirit. The pronoun should match the noun and hence be "which." - You also mention fellowship and the spirit and refer to a 2 Corinthians verse. But notice in the verse that it states "fellowship of" and not "fellowship with." The verse isn't teaching that Christians have fellowship with the spirit. The verse shows that those who have the spirit will have fellowship with one another. The idea is that the spirit fosters, generates, and causes fellowship amongst the people of God. It isn't teaching that Christians have fellowship with the spirit. - I find it odd that you appeal to singular personal pronouns as an argument but then deny their meaning when applied to God. Semantically, there's no contextual evidence that the Greek term "theos" was ever understood to be 3 persons. - Regarding John 16, it is grammatically correct to say "He" in this section because the Parakletos is masculine, and so the pronoun should reflect that too. I don't think arguing based on the gender of the word is the best approach, though. For example, the word "drachmas" from Luke 15:8 is feminine, and the pronoun used in the verse is translated as "it." 8 “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? To be strict with the Greek, it would be, "until she finds her," but the translators know that coins are not persons and translate as "it." The question remains: How would the Apostles have understood what Jesus was saying? Would they have understood Jesus speaking about a 3rd member of a Tri-personal God, or would they have filtered the language through the way they were raised and cultured?
No. The trinity doctrine is the concoction of the Catholic church in the 2nd century. The beast. Christians needs to learn to study the bible in hebrew and greek. "I said YOU are eloheim and are all SONS of the Most High" Psalm 82:6. Jesus was an eloheim not Elohiem. Everyone begotten of the Fathers incorruptible seed are eloheim. Not THE Elohiem. No true messiah would ever claim to be the Elohiem YHWH. An abomination. Deut. 13. And the Father is his own spirit who is Holy and Righteous. He has many spirits not just one. Scripture ascribes all the characteristics of personhood to God the Holy Spirit except having a body. This suggests that the best English word to describe a non-corporeal member of the Trinity/Godhead is the nearly deprecated word "personage."

God is Spirit, Ephesians 4:4 states, "There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call".   The verse continues, "There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism; there is one God and Father of all, who is Lord of all, works through all, and is in all".  The verse discusses unity in the Spirit, which includes: One body, One Spirit, One hope, One Lord, One faith, One baptism, and One God. 
Not only that the Holy Spirit is a person He has a sense of humor. He is so wanting us to know Him!... And all you have to do is talk to Him. Jesus personalizing the Holy Spirt doesn't make it an actual person. Trinitarians highlight their biblical ignorance when they make such arguments. Wisdom is personalized in the Proverbs as if it was a woman. Does that mean it is an actual woman or person? No, ofc it doesn't. Jesus personalized the Holy Spirit to help the disciples understand ITS functions, just like the concept of wisdom is personalized in the Proverbs for readers to understand its value.

Luk. 1:35 also shows the angel Gabriel calling the Holy Spirit "the POWER of the Highest". And yet, trinitarians will insist day and night that the Holy Spirit is something other than what the Bible clearly says it is: the active power of God that is utilized to manifest His will. That is what was hovering over the waters in Gen. 1: God's power. How can anyone honestly or correctly study the Bible and reach the conclusion that the Holy Spirit is a sentient being?
He is not a guest! He takes possession of the believer. It's not like you are the owner and can kick Him out. You are the temple and He owns you. That's really a distorted view of the Holy Spirit.

I don't agree with the term "force" it's kind of dishonest. The idea is that it's an extension of the Father himself (His breath) or a type of his actual presence in the world. The term pneuma has broad meaning such as when Jesus asked peter what spirit he was. It can refer to a person's mindset, someone's literal breath, a spiritual bodily entity like an angel, or a disembodied spirit like a demon. Context determines the meaning of the word. There is some motif I've heard that the holy spirit mentioned in the NT is used for more than 1 entity. There could be examples of this when the "holy spirit" speaks or commands believers it could be an angel that God sent at the time to direct people, while also using the same term for the breath of God that resides in believers. Angels in the scriptures are commonly referred to as "holy ones" (holy spirits), holy spirit not being an exclusive name for just the breath of God. Worth studying further.

God consecrates the Christian's body for His own use _through the Holy Spirit_ like a rancher would mark their cattle with a brand.

The Holy Spirit is Holy and Spirit, the Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of God, in Scripture. A person is a human being, do you mean the Holy Spirit has personality, do spirits and the Spirit of God have personalities or personhood? I find it very confusing, but what I do agree upon is that God is the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit. I am not a unitarian or a JW. Isn't the Holy Spirit the Spirit of God and the same Spirit that is in Christ? Why did Jesus need to go to Heaven in order for the Holy Spirit to come to us? My understanding NOW .. having grown up in the church but now searching through scriptures myself, is that the Holy Spirit is not a person. The H.S is the spirit of God and of Christ in a person. 1 Corinthians 3:16 states this when it says "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?". Hebrews 10:15-17 also shows that the Holy Spirit is God the Father's as it says" And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,” then he adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” 1 Corinthians 2:11 say "For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.". 2 Corinthians 3:17 "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.".
When Jesus walked among us, He received the H.S from the Father when the spirit descended on Him in a bodily form like a dove in after the baptism. He rejoiced in the H.S before the 72 and he breathed on the disciples after the resurrection and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit". I do not know if they received it, perhaps a portion because later on He says "..But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses.." and after Pentecost scripture says they were "all filled with the Holy Spirit". The H.S we have in us is the spirit of the Son who Himself had received it from the Father. The H.S is a gift as Peter stated in Acts 2:38 that "... and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.". Romans 8:9 says "You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.".
If you look at the letters after the Acts of the Apostles, they typically begin with greetings that mention God the Father and Jesus Christ, but they do not explicitly include the Holy Spirit. Even the after the instruction of Matthew 28:19, the apostles in the Book of Acts,are often described as baptizing "in the name of Jesus Christ."
Grieving the Holy Spirit is grieving Jesus and the Father because it is the same spirit."For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body-Jews or Greeks, slaves or free-and all were made to drink of one Spirit." He , the H.S of our God and our saviour, links us all together for all of us who believe in the Christ, are "sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it" and that's what makes us ONE just as the Father and the Son are one. That is why Paul can say "he grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all."

In the nicest way possible, I think you’re being a bit eisegetical in your investigation. Take a listen to what the verses provided in the video say and compare them to your own conclusions-there will be some clear differences.
@@jty1999 Out of approximately 300 verses that mention the Spirit - with a capital "S" in reference to the Spirit of God or the Holy Spirit, the few that are used to make a case for the Holy Spirit as a distinct individual person apart from the Father or the Son is the very embodiment of eisegetical I would say.
I believe the bible is simple and should be taken at its word. If for instance, it says " in the beginning was the "word" - no capital letters or footnotes or concordances or presuppositions, agendas or biases - and then we look at scripture that states what transpired in the beginning - Genesis 1:3 that simply states "And God said ...". It is a no brainer. He said it Himself when he declared "So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."~Isaiah 55:11.
The bible references the Holy Spirit as "He" using personification and pronouns as a literary device.Here are some examples:
Folly: "The woman Folly is loud; she is seductive and knows nothing."
Wisdom: "Wisdom cries aloud in the street; in the markets she raises her voice."
Taking the whole bible cover to cover, in the beginning The Holy Spirit hovers over the face of the waters but at the end, the bible does not provide a detailed account of the specific role or location of the Holy Spirit after the second coming of Christ. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father sent to testify about His Son in His name. He is is a seal and guarantee of our inheritance in Christ serving as a teacher,
guide, a convicter of sin, righteousness, and judgment, a sanctifier, an intercessor, an empowerer and a giver of spiritual gifts.
As a side bar, a question was asked within our early teens youth group that I had never given thought to - "if The Holy Spirit is a different person from YHWH our Father in heaven, then how is God the father of Jesus and not him?".

This is why we say God the Son, God the Father, God the Spirit. The nature of the trinity is complex and a difficult thing to grasp. Does the Father love the Son? Obviously. But saying “only begotten Son” doesn’t mean “only child,” especially considering that a human can become a “son of God,” but rather that Jesus is species-unique because there is no one like God.
Equating Spirit to personification like Wisdom doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense since the Spirit moves and does things in both testaments when the personifications in the Old Testament are used to describe attributes or characteristics of God. That’s a bit like saying, “If an employer hires his son who becomes his employee, why aren’t all the other employees also his children?” That’s not meant to represent the Trinity obviously, but just to point out the illogical nature of that rationale.
Put it this way, Abraham and his descendants did not know about a trinity. They did not know about a “Son,” though they came to know about a Messiah and that he would possibly be divine in some way, depending on who you asked within a given historical time period. Jesus came and clarified that through his fulfillment of prophecies and his own words and actions. The concept of progressive revelation isn’t new to anyone, even Trinity-deniers like Tovia Singer will admit to it, although they’ll give such a strict definition so as to exclude orthodox Christian belief. The clarification of the Holy Spirit as a distinct person is given by God the Son as much as the clarification of God becoming man was clarified through Jesus’ literal virgin birth, his ministry, his death and his resurrection. But if you’re going to deny what Jesus has to say about the Holy Spirit, you might as well deny Jesus’ deity while you’re at it and call God the Son a liar, thereby making the triune God a liar. The formulation of Trinity can’t be eisegetical because there’s no personal motivation to read that into the text. You may or may not know this, but many Jews before Jesus’ time came to believe in the “two-powers in heaven theory,” which suggests a binitarian view of their monotheistic God. The most common version of this belief back in the pre-Jesus day tended to believe in…God in heaven and God the Spirit. This is from their own observations of the Hebrew Bible. Do with that what you will.
Some points I'd make, as I disagree only in part.
- The spirit of God is not a distinct person from the Father. The spirit is the Father as per the below verse:
Matthew 10:20.
For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
- You have made some references to some translations that show translation bias. As you would be aware, the Greek language has genders for words. In the Bible, there are 3 main words used for the spirit:
Ruach = Feminine
Pneuma = Neuter
Parakletos = Masculine
The verses you referenced translate the pronoun as a masculine "He," but the noun is Neuter. So the correct pronoun would be "It." This also applies when using the pronoun "who/whom" to the spirit. The pronoun should match the noun and hence be "which."
- You also mention fellowship and the spirit and refer to a 2 Corinthians verse. But notice in the verse that it states "fellowship of" and not "fellowship with." The verse isn't teaching that Christians have fellowship with the spirit. The verse shows that those who have the spirit will have fellowship with one another. The idea is that the spirit fosters, generates, and causes fellowship amongst the people of God. It isn't teaching that Christians have fellowship with the spirit.
- I find it odd that you appeal to singular personal pronouns as an argument but then deny their meaning when applied to God. Semantically, there's no contextual evidence that the Greek term "theos" was ever understood to be 3 persons.
- Regarding John 16, it is grammatically correct to say "He" in this section because the Parakletos is masculine, and so the pronoun should reflect that too. I don't think arguing based on the gender of the word is the best approach, though. For example, the word "drachmas" from Luke 15:8 is feminine, and the pronoun used in the verse is translated as "it."

To be strict with the Greek, it would be, "until she finds her," but the translators know that coins are not persons and translate as "it."
The question remains: How would the Apostles have understood what Jesus was saying? Would they have understood Jesus speaking about a 3rd member of a Tri-personal God, or would they have filtered the language through the way they were raised and cultured?

Luk. 1:35 also shows the angel Gabriel calling the Holy Spirit "the POWER of the Highest". And yet, trinitarians will insist day and night that the Holy Spirit is something other than what the Bible clearly says it is: the active power of God that is utilized to manifest His will. That is what was hovering over the waters in Gen. 1: God's power. How can anyone honestly or correctly study the Bible and reach the conclusion that the Holy Spirit is a sentient being?

Jesus breathed the Holy spirit also onto the disciples when He, Jesus was on the earth, yet said the Holy Spirit can't come to you unless He, Jesus goes to the Father, is that a contradiction?

I don't agree with the term "force" it's kind of dishonest. The idea is that it's an extension of the Father himself (His breath) or a type of his actual presence in the world. The term pneuma has broad meaning such as when Jesus asked peter what spirit he was. It can refer to a person's mindset, someone's literal breath, a spiritual bodily entity like an angel, or a disembodied spirit like a demon. Context determines the meaning of the word.
There is some motif I've heard that the holy spirit mentioned in the NT is used for more than 1 entity. There could be examples of this when the "holy spirit" speaks or commands believers it could be an angel that God sent at the time to direct people, while also using the same term for the breath of God that resides in believers. Angels in the scriptures are commonly referred to as "holy ones" (holy spirits), holy spirit not being an exclusive name for just the breath of God. Worth studying further.

You're really mincing words and making a lot of assumptions with this. I don't think our faith or salvation is based upon the Holy Spirit being a person vs. a spirit and it seems to me to be part of a larger theme of indiscretion with your attempts at correcting false christian sects.

I would ask, if the Holy Spirit is a "person" begotten of God, then is Jesus not the only begotten of God? And what about the Seven Spirits of God? Are these seven holy spirits persons? The whole thing is hinging on definitions of person and can go either or both ways depending.
This fighting in the weeds is never going to get anyone anywhere. The attributes and activities of the Holy Spirit found in the bible are what we should stand upon.
