I definitely like mixing up my workout with a variety of strokes and kick sets. Swimming freestyle back and forth for an hour doesn't do much for me :) It's more fun to do IM!
Beginner swimmer here. Been swimming the past 21weeks. Started out at about 2times a week now I’m up to around 5days a week. Your videos have been extremely helpful. Cheers!
I have been swimming 4 days a week in the past 3 weeks and I LOVE IT. Granted, I am bad at it because I am still learning, but I earned the lifeguards' and coaches' free advices just because they saw me trying so hard lol I will be attending lessons in March 🤞🏼. Swimming was always one of my wishes when I was a kid but my parents thought it wasn't necessary and it was too expensive. Now that I am an adult, I discovered how much I feel in my element when underwater, it's like I belong here! Best wishes for your progress and have fun.

I want to add swimming to my exercise menu because water is the great equalizer for a person like me. Also, thanks for showing the plus size swimmer in your video...very inspiring!

Good ideas! Lately i have been breaking up my 600 meters with different freestyles ( stretch vs crawl) and some breast and back strokes....but can you beat the relaxation of 35 minutes of straight smooth swimming? Soooo relaxing and refreshing! This year i turn 70 years old. I love swimming!
I'm 64, recently retired. I'm so happy to have found this channel. I haven't swam a lap since college. I just joined my Y and am determined to get in shape, and swimming is a big part of the plan (my body can't take running, and walking isn't enough). My goal is to swim a continious freestyle stroke for my entire 50-minute lane time by my birthday in mid-June. I love the workout plans and will begin #2 today. My question: Can someone my age learn to execute a flip-turn effectively? Thanks - I will keep watching.

I love the mental aspect of open water swimming. Swimming 8 miles in a local reservoir in Idaho challenges a person's resolve. Last time, the water was 50-55 degrees F.

Just recently discovered your videos and want to get into swimming :) could you do the Get Fit work out more than three days? Or should you take precautions to avoid being injured and not resting enough?

Oh man, I haven't really swum since I was 17. I competed on my high school swim team and made it to the city championships. I worked hard and had great coaches. I've definitely packed on some pounds over the last couple years. Looking for a way to lose some weight while getting my cardio going again. Once I'm settled down somewhere I hope to get a pool membership and get back into it. I'm going to download your app and try your programmes!
thank so much for your video coach. may i ask, what does ot mean "Focus"? in work out 2 and 3 there are sction main set Focus. Could you explain again :). thanks coach
Hey I just came across this video because I'm thinking about incorporating swimming into my fitness routine and I'm very new to it. My question is: because I'm naturally very skinny and I'm trying to gain muscle and mass from working out, will swing be a good addition and not hinder the gains in trying to make? Or will it end up burning too many calories and work against my muscle and size building goals?
Hi Deakon! Like all exercises, it definitely depends on what type of workout you're doing. If you're looking to build muscle, work on technique first and then power and speed later. There's a reason sprinters like Caeleb Dressel are so muscular! Hope this helps and happy swimming :)
I'm having some trouble understanding this lol. I'm very much a casual swimmer, haven't really practiced any technique. Not since swim school when I was like 5 years old. (Although I really enjoyed swim school as a kid, and made an effort to manage all the challenges to get those little pin rewards, and I got them all.) But as an adult I didn't swim for many years until a few years ago, so I lost a lot of the skills I learned as a child. Now I can only do breast stroke, poorly and slowly. Barely well enough to not drown. So all this talk about technique is very confusing. But I can easily swim a kilometer which I do about once a week. It takes me about an hour to reach that distance. I don't need a lot of pauses, depending on how much effort I put in. If I'm just moving barely fast enough to stay floating, no rest is needed, and if I really put my back into it, I'll need to rest every 100 meters or so. So to keep things interesting I tend to just vary my intensity, basically. But lately I've been trying to improve my technique a little and found a way to be able to better line up my arm strokes with my leg strokes, helping me swim a bit faster. Although I still avoid having my head under water, because I have sensitive eyes and nose and the chlorine kinda stings there. Don't really know how to overcome that because my neck is suffering and my feet keep flopping down to the bottom of the pool, which is a bit annoying. Also I only swim once a week because that's kinda what I have time for, considering I also do muscle building 2-3 days a week at the gym, and then other life activities and chores get in the way as well. So, swimming is what I prefer for cardio, and staying healthy, as running around, biking, treadmills, etc, just aren't my thing. But, whenever my energy levels increase with healthier living habits (it's a work in progress) I'd definitely like to swim more often. I love swimming because it feels kinda like I'm flying, very free and lightweight sensation. It makes me feel one with my body. So it does wonders for my body image, despite what some others may say about the small, tight swim suits. I'm not even really aware of what my body looks like when I'm under the water, nor do I care.
Was up man I got some goals I want to accomplish in a couple of months and would appreciate a workout guide to reach them as quickly as possible, I’d appreciate it if you could help me out thanks
Hi Mohammed! We recommend at least twice per week (check out this article: myswimpro.com/blog/2019/06/26/how-often-should-you-swim/) and starting with freestyle!
You've come to the right place, Douglas! Swimming is a great exercise for people of all ages and abilities, and is even used for rehab! If you're looking for more workout programs, check out the MySwimPro app for personalized Training Plans at myswimpro.com/elite :)
Does anyone have advice to not be embarrassed at the pool? I’m new and my form is bad, one time I saw two life guards laughing at me. I’ve been so nervous going back ever since.
Great job taking the first step to beginning your workout! Maybe you may want to look at it from a different angle. Youre there to practice anyways and youre at the right place for it. Do you really want your workout lifestyle in the future to be dictated by two strangers in the present? What really matters is your dedication and effort and that is worth feeling proud about, enough to overshadow any potential embarrassment you might feel! All the best!
...join a swim club near you or find a group of swimmers and I'm sure you'll improve in a safe and fun environment. You e taken the first step...as you swim more and learn you'll gain in confidence x

MySwimPro oh ok.... I do have the app. Thanks for the prompt reply. I will be planning my return to the pool now that my gym has opened it back up! I definitely want to try the 8week program. Ps. My favorite stroke is backstroke ☺️
i'm currently having a mental breakdown over the requirements for my swimming lessons in 11th grade, so i hope these workouts will help me, cause otherwise i'm lost
It seems the emphasis in these programs is freestyle. Is it recommended for beginners to focus on only or mostly freestyle rather then working on the other strokes as well?
Hi there! We definitely recommend learning freestyle to understand coordination and efficiency in the water. However, breaststroke is another good beginner stroke! It’s all about what works best for you!
Just starting out swimming. Can "swim" in the pool and off the boat etc but never did any formal instruction or lap swimming. The local YMCA is backed up for lessons. Which program do you recommend for me? Thanks in advance

I would like to learn to breathe while swimming can you forward a video of you have one?
I'm having some trouble understanding this lol. I'm very much a casual swimmer, haven't really practiced any technique. Not since swim school when I was like 5 years old. (Although I really enjoyed swim school as a kid, and made an effort to manage all the challenges to get those little pin rewards, and I got them all.)
But as an adult I didn't swim for many years until a few years ago, so I lost a lot of the skills I learned as a child.
I'm not even really aware of what my body looks like when I'm under the water, nor do I care.
can you translate the different meters and how many laps it is, i quit a while ago and i’m just getting back into swimming and i’m a bit rusty😅
Sp'Art'An' Sh'Wmm'Er' here. Beziner -- two of these - eased into - the northern tribes. Swedish of Spartan / American. A good target, is 100 - 200m.
How do I like gain my confidence in the water and how do I convince my parents to allow me to go swimming as like an excercise?
i like a swim
Was up man I got some goals I want to accomplish in a couple of months and would appreciate a workout guide to reach them as quickly as possible, I’d appreciate it if you could help me out thanks
I just wanna ask that, how often should I swim in about a week if I'm a beginner and with what technique should I start?
Hi Mohammed! We recommend at least twice per week (check out this article: myswimpro.com/blog/2019/06/26/how-often-should-you-swim/) and starting with freestyle!

I've been skating for 22 years and wanted to find a workout program that is easier on my body. Especially when I'm injured.
Hello guys im 54 y/o i smoked cigarettes most of my life and started swimming 3 months ago, im in love with swimming but have problems regulating my freestyle breathing, any advice? Does it get any better?

MySwimPro oh ok.... I do have the app. Thanks for the prompt reply. I will be planning my return to the pool now that my gym has opened it back up! I definitely want to try the 8week program. Ps. My favorite stroke is backstroke ☺️
@@acemamchenry1573 Awesome! We hope you enjoy the plan!
i'm currently having a mental breakdown over the requirements for my swimming lessons in 11th grade, so i hope these workouts will help me, cause otherwise i'm lost
Should qe be stretching beforehand
Just started I can only swim like a frog lol
It seems the emphasis in these programs is freestyle. Is it recommended for beginners to focus on only or mostly freestyle rather then working on the other strokes as well?
Hi there! We definitely recommend learning freestyle to understand coordination and efficiency in the water. However, breaststroke is another good beginner stroke! It’s all about what works best for you!
@@FaresKsebati interesting. Thank you for your reply! Is backstroke not considered a beginner stroke?
Just starting out swimming. Can "swim" in the pool and off the boat etc but never did any formal instruction or lap swimming. The local YMCA is backed up for lessons. Which program do you recommend for me? Thanks in advance
Hi Dennis! We recommend the Couch to 1K plan in the MySwimPro app. The Training Plan (and all your workouts!) can be completely customized to your level and preferences! Check it out at myswimpro.com/elite and use the code SOCIAL20 for 20% off :)

I’m scared of going to the deep end and I’m just starting to swim I’m at the very basic of it. How do I get over the deep end and build my confidence in the water?
