I think I have much to learn from this video. I always try to make an overly complicated game, or go for some grand theme or try to make an original and complex game mechanic, and I always fail. I've participated in LD dozens of times, and so far I've only managed to make 2 games. You've reminded me for how small I should aim to make my game, I hope I'll remember this by the time next LD happens!
Simple hack for high score is go go around in circles (just press d). Probabilistically, this reduces your chance of encountering meteor since the car only covers small surface of the sphere relative to random sampling of meteors. The fix would be to make meteor fall within some radius of the car instead of the overall sphere.
