At 62 years old, I have had severe allergies/asthma my entire life. A year ago, I changed my WOE to ketovore/carnivore to lose weight, and amazingly, 99% of my allergy/asthma symptoms went away. I went from taking multiple prescriptiion Reactine, asthma inhalers, nasal sprays, and prescription eye drops daily to needing none of them in less than a month. This has continued now for over a year and, in that time, I have only needed the medications less than half a dozen times. This was such an awesome and unexpected victory for me, aside from losing 75 pounds too!!!

    • @kkulhavy1960

@shahad3463 Always SAD, with very heavy carb addiction. I was diagnosed with multiple allergies, including foods like dairy, bananas, chocolate, citrus when I was 14 and did strict avoidance of those, as well as allergy shots for over 11 years for environmental, some of which improved and many more got worse. Once I cut out everything besides meat for over a month, my allergies cleared right up for the most part. Now I can easily tell, when I eat a small amount of some veg, or sometimes even a spice used, as I will have a reaction within 10 minutes of eating and will take 3-4 hours to go away again, if it is from a food. Most of the environmental have also improved to the point I need no meds on a regular basis as I did for over 45 years.

Wow! This dug up a whole pile of issues that I've never considered! When I was on a carnivore diet, I would experience minor issues when I ate shellfish. But when I started adding things like avocado, cheese, yogurt, kefir, 100% cacao, mushrooms, and nuts I would experience issues like runny nose, gut aches, and occasional diarrhea. I don't add a ton of these things, but now that I think about it, on days when I have multiple items in these categories, I experience the most distress. It has been a mystery to me, but now it all seems to make sense thanks to this information. I guess I'll go back to carnivore, then add these things back in one at a time to see what causes the distress. It may be all of them, but at least now I know what may be causing these issues! I love all of your videos, Kait. Some of the information, like in this video, is new to me, some provides refreshers, and some just keeps me on the right track. I find your information very helpful. I stumbled upon this video. I think I may have a histamine intolerance. I also have issues with insulin resistance. I started Intermittent fasting and keto (but clean keto) months back and started having flushing, rapid heart rate, high BP. Now it seems I have food sensitivity. I can eat something and I get a burning sensation in my chest and the need to go to the bathroom and my heart will go up. I did a bulletproof coffee months ago and my heart rate was up the entire day. I went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. Cardiologist ruled my heart is in great condition. I have digestive issues and have incorporated goat's milk kifer, kimchee, green smoothies, but I notice when I started taking collagen I notice a mucus buildup, even with a bone both protein powder. I eat avocado and spinach every day. So now I have to try a low histamine diet.

Thank you Kait, been waiting for a video on histamines for quite a while, I have seen a few, but none cut it as good as yours, and this video was very well done and wonderful explanation. If you have more on histamines down the track, or more new findings, please let us know. I get a runny nose occasional, been trying to track it down. I can now go back over all my data and have a better idea what to look for, although I mainly only eat different types of meat, cheese, eggs, little else. I thought one part it could be cheese. I eat some cheese occasional. It can't be eggs, I did suspect eggs. I am wondering if burnt steak, or the charred parts slightly burnt but nice could be doing it, the carbon. That is not all the time, either, but will take more notice. Kind regards, Dennis. Oh yes, thanks to information on DAO

My histamine levels were too high for too long and I developed a mast cell reaction with itchy bumps. The only thing that worked for me were the dao pills/histamine block from amazon and going on a low histamine diet. Then the hives & itching finally went away for the most part. I figured out it is also linked to my liver issues and I was low in vitamin C, zinc, vitamin D, & B

I spent years trying g to figure out the connection between my food related symptoms and the food. I finally settled on tyramine being the culprit. I don't know if tyramine is a histamine, but after Journaling for a year I reached the conclusion that most of the same things mentioned here are also high in tyramine AND gets higher the older the food. So, about 15 years ago I started freezing all leftover meats, fish, and beans to stop the growth process. Also, fruits have to be eaten as close to just ripe as possible, as they too trigger symptoms as they overripe. There's more, but this comment box is only so big😊

I was unaware oregano oil acts as an antibiotic in that it wipes out the good & bad bacteria. It took me years to figure out it was a histamine intolerance. But what was also compounding the issues, was I was eating smoothies that had every high histamine food: banana, strawberries, spinach!

I am sick to death of all the allergies, and I used to brag about how they would go away when I'm near a beach or snow (both of which are rare; I'm in west TN). Now, at 64, my nose runs 24/7, and I thought it was because I put cheese on everything, and eat yogurt, ice cream, and (drink) milk. I have never heard any of what you just said, but you named my favorite foods (bananas, walnuts, citrus). This is horrible news, because these are the few foods I am not allergic to (apples make my throat itch and swell). I feel like I cannot eat anything now. I am soooooo tired. 😢

I’ve watched a few videos on here from a few functional medicine M.D.’s. They were speaking of using the five R’s. An elimination diet is in order for yours truly 😢. Chamomile tea helps a lot with the itching as does Marshmallow Leaf tea. The amino acid L-Glutamine is supposed to be very effective. 💊 Histamine intolerance is the body having too much histamine built up.
💊 Reasons for histamine intolerance include inadequate DAO enzyme production, certain medications, GI disorders, and consuming histamine-rich or DAO-blocking foods.
💊 Common symptoms of histamine intolerance include runny nose, headaches, nasal congestion, irregular periods, digestive distress, fatigue, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, high blood pressure, and stomach cramps.
💊 Histamine-rich foods to avoid include fermented foods, aged cheeses, alcohol, smoked foods, dried fruits, canned foods, pork, shellfish, avocados, eggplants, and spinach.
💊 Foods that trigger a histamine response include tomatoes, bananas, wheat, beans, citrus fruits, certain nuts, and food dyes.
💊 Eating fresh foods, incorporating DAO-containing foods or supplements, and reducing histamine buildup can help manage histamine intolerance.
💊 While there is no cure, many people experience significant improvement in symptoms by increasing DAO and reducing histamine levels.

Histamine intolerance is a complex issue.
So i developed this because of an allergen in my room but also because of constant antibiotics.
The antibiotics killed of some of the good bacteria from the colon, this in turn made the bad bacteria to proliferate (which converts histidine to histamine).
Stress didn't help and with elevated histamine absorption you develop leaky gut and maybe Sibo or Sifo.
Avoiding high histamine foods is just a temporary solution, not viable in the long run cuz it will cause deficiency.
THE ONLY WAY IS TO RESTORE THE BALANCE IN THE COLON.
Fixing leaky gut with glutamine and zinc is another big thing.
This is going to take a while but fixing these 2 issues will solve most of the problems and will boost the immune system, which is about 80% in the intestines.
I think people should take a dysbiosis stool test every 2 or 3 years especially if they are sick a lot or have chronic stress.

Kait, would like your opinion on some things. I try to intermittent fast every day, noon to 8PM. I also just watched the "8 drinks" video. Here goes: one of my health issues is intermittent kidney function reduction, so my doc wants me to drink LARGE amounts of water(90 oz per day or more). I do. My question is - can I combine my water with MCT oil, electrolytes & ACV?? Too much? OK? Do not suffer from headaches, exhaustion and/or tiredness. Try to walk 3 miles every day, even rain. I do not want to 'over do' anything. Thanx. Realize this is not the appropriate video, but know you are very busy & unsure how far back you go to check for questions.
