  • The landing warship, named Caesar Kunikov, was struck by the Ukrainian Naval Drone MAGURA V5 also called sea drones off the annexed Crimean Peninsula near Yalta
We will also be looking at the basic engineering behind Sea Baby and one of their missions so stay tuned and don’t miss a beat.
This Russian landing ship, known as Caesar Kunikov belongs to the Ropucha-I-class segment of amphibious ships.
These vessels are crucial for swiftly transporting assault troops to land during military operations.
Originally designed for beach landings, they boast the capacity to carry up to 450 tons of cargo.
Featuring both bow and stern doors, they facilitate the seamless loading and unloading of vehicles.
The vehicle deck spans an impressive 630 square meters which translates to around (6,800 square Feet stretching the entire length of the hull.
This extensive space enables the embarkation of up to 25 armored personnel carriers.

As a builder of large RC low center of gravity boats/drones/hellos iv Run/seen these at speed and without a heavy ballast/payload these are thrown around in any open water even with the advantage of operating these by eyesight its a bumpy ride & being controlled by GPS or only the 3 onboard cameras in anything more than a swell will be no walk in the park so the only option "bigger is indeed better" as with any RC

The video is great from an engineering perspective. From a military perspective, let me add a few things off the top of my head:
1- The attack was carried out in coordination and there is footage of the event.
2- The ports have nets to counter the naval drones, so a plan had to be mustered.
3- A explosion happened in a location close to the russian naval base just before sunset, so they sent this ship, which has radar and AA gun to scout the area outside of the port, the idea was to have early warning if another weapon or aircraft was on their way. The Ukranians probably studied the movements of the russian fleet and expected this reaction.
4- The first drone to hit the ship has a thermal camera where you could see dusk happening. It tailgated the ship and hit it in the rudder.
5- With the mobility impaired, a second drone hit it again in the rudder, completely inmobilising the ship and turning it into a sitting duck
6- Another drone/explosion happened in the middle of the ship, I couldn't find footage of this explosion.
7- Another drone hit the ship in the same spot as the previous one, the damage can be seen before impact. At this point, the crew had probably started evacuation.
8- Further thermal footage can be seen of the ship sinking straight down, this means there were even more naval drones lurking and filming, a minimum of 5 naval drones carried out this attack plus whatever caused the initial explosion inland.
Hope it helps, maybe a video idea for a part 2 😉
****Edit: the escenario I described is the sinking of the ship Ivanovets***

it should be fairly simple based on the video provided to time the bob rate of the "drone" and calculate from that the displacement mass yielding an approximation of the size for the potential warhead....with out even bothering to do so it is obvious that the motorized surfboard in question can not mass much over 300 lbs 100 or so of which will be the drone battery pack motor and controls leaving 200 lbs of payload for a warhead...and you claim that this is what sank a warship? two of them now in as many weeks? yeah sure they did.

I these videos are great, and this is one that gives lots of details. However, I did see one detail that was missed. On the original drone, there are three angled fins that run across the top of the vessel. These fins serve a specific purpose. They are needed because of the high speed of the vessel and the large payload located forward of the center. If rough seas are encountered, they prevent the vessel from being forced under the water and becoming a submarine. If the vessel encounters a large wave, the water pushes against the angled fins. This force causes the bow of the vessel to rise out of the water rapidly.
    Keep up the great work.

Once the hull is breached it is difficult to control flooding. That is why the cruiser "Moskva" took much more damage before going down, she was armored and designed to control flooding.

Nice presentation, but I am sceptical about the bomb triggering model showed here. With such shape profile and impact fuses on the the very top - the angle tolerance to trigger the fuses would be very narrow. If the drone crashed at target with small derogation from perpendicularity it could destroy frontal side, without triggering the explosion. So I think that triggering system is different than shown or there are many backup systems, including also accelerometers.

Caesar Kunikov did not have any means of defense, including the ship's AK630 minigun. @@NePokirni Footage of maritime drone attack published
Ukraine, to the Russian large landing ship "Caesar Kunikov", project 775, which we previously talked about. The attack at 6.15 am almost abeam Yalta was carried out by a Ukrainian unit called
Group 13 equipped with maritime drones
MAGURA V5, we previously reported about it and drones. It is unknown what purpose the landing ship Caesar Kunikov had, but at the moment, not a single ship in the world can repel a massive attack by sea drones. Putting this ship out to sea was quite a risky endeavor; unlike other ships of Project 775, it does not have AK-630 artillery mounts and has nothing to repel an attack with. Judging by the video, the ship tilted and capsized on one of its sides.
According to Ukrainian media, the ship
"Caesar Kunikov" sank, Russian media do not confirm this. Ты видимо сам это придумал, так как на этом классе даже ак725 не было- стрела может быть, но она надводные цели не может сбивать.

So, what about using two smaller ships at each side of a big ship like this, which are carrying a super solid net, a bit like those on a tennis field, but here as long as the big ship: one little ship cruising at the bow of the ship, one parallel to the stern, and in between them the long net: of course a seadrone could first hit the small ship, but that would immediately send an alarm. The other thing that would be possible would be to aim in between the small and the big ships, but there would be more eyes on the look out, since both the folks on the small ships and the big ship would be on the look out. It would not stop all attacks but it would make it more difficult. However, no idea if the small ships with such a long net could keep up the same speed as the big one. But well, I"m sure creative engineers can come up with some solution to decrease the chances of big ships being such sitting ducks for mosquito boats....
