  • Peloton has always had a great product, but the one glaring weakness for me was lack of a quality scenic ride selection. With the recently scenic ride improvements, has Peloton improved the Peloton Bike or went in the wrong direction?
    Hope this video will be very informative to you…
    Thank you.

    Looks like Peloton did not make the new scenic rides available in Peloton Digital. I will keep an eye on this and see if it changes, but as of right now, do not expect to see these new ride structures in Peloton Digital.

      So will this affect how you rank Stryde if the instructor scenic rides are not available on the app?

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 года назад +1

      Once I realized they were not in Peloton Digital I was super bummed out. This has nothing to do with Stryde and is all Peloton, so I don’t want to fault Stryde. Regardless, you still can’t do them in Stryde. I will keep it a tie for now, but if you really want to do instructor led scenic rides, it could factor into your decision.

    This was one of the big reasons I bought the NT S22i. Their scenic rides and instructors are great! But I figured it was a matter of time for Peloton. Travis, is NT can get their quality issues resolved (I’ve had none) and Peloton (and others maybe) improves their scenics, could be fun to do an updated comparison in 6 mos or so. Just a thought. Really enjoy your channel!

      Bill, I agree! I also chose the NT S22i based on both the scenic rides and the elevation tilt. I have had my bike for about 3 months now with no issues (fingers crossed). The instructor led scenic rides are so immersive! I have done quite a bit of outdoor riding and the tilt feature mimics both your position on the bike based on the road elevation (climbing or descending), and also the pedal difficulty (or power) which makes it feel exactly like you are climbing or descending just like riding in real life. Of course the NT S22i is climate controlled and safer than sharing the road with other vehicles ;-)
      I find myself riding my NT S22i more and my road bike less. Living in Florida with the summer heat is also a plus for the NT S22i :)

    I tried the Big Sur ride with Denis Morton and it was awesome. I’m just disappointed they took out the old rides. They weren’t great, but they made good screensavers on my Roku stick connected to my TV and I was looking forward to “traveling” with those rides while on work calls. The number of locations was a major plus to them. Hoping they bring them back but not expecting them to.

    6:27 - I'm the complete opposite. I don't give a single turkey about instructor lead rides. For scenic rides, I want it to simply simulate me riding the course where I can throw on some tunes and zone out and watch the scenery go by for an hour or more without an instructor fighting for my attention.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  2 года назад

      Most of Peloton’s scenic rides are like this so it could still work. Other bikes have options like this to. I almost wonder if using RUclips and either a solid no screen bike or Stryde might be best.

    We can never have everything we want in one bike. I am planning to buy a bike for a while now, and I was thinking about Peloton, then I saw the scenic riders on Ifit with the instructors, and I fell in love for that. I am using now a normal exercise bike until I figure out which spinning bike to get. But scenic riders with instructors are very important. If I could just stream the ifit on Pelton lol that would be perfect I would give them all my money lol

To each, his own. But, for me, timed rides are the way to go. I do like that they have added more rides. Miss the old ones, especially downtown Chicago. To their credit, the library is expanding. I’m a road cyclist who enjoys endurance riding. Nothing crazy, but generally a minimum of 40 miles up to an occasional 100 miler. Can the Peloton+ or Zwift/RGT/Fulgaz/etc with a smart trainer give me that experience and keep me engaged? I don’t need another expensive dust collector/clothes hanger in my bonus room.
    I’m a little disappointed to learn that scenic rides don’t auto adjust the resistance on the bike+.
    Do these things connect to Wi-Fi and stay updated?

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 года назад

      As a road cyclist, bikes with scenic ride options could be great for you to stay on top of your conditioning and have an indoor option. My guess is Peloton Bike+ will only get better and could become a fantastic option. Problem is, they are just getting started and I don't know how fast they plan to launch new content. Other options includes the S22i and Proform Studio Pro 22 which have great scenic content which a lot of people really enjoy.
      That being said, if there is something that I have learned from comments on my videos... True road riders really prefer smart trainer options. I believe this is because it replicates the road experience they enjoy more. So, I think the question to ask is, are you looking to replicate your road experience or you want an easy jump on and go option. Both could be great options, just depends on what you would enjoy more.
      The connected fitness bikes do require internet. The content\updates\basically everything comes from the internet so you will need that.
      Hope that helps!

      Thanks, that is helpful.
      I’m an android guy but have a healthy respect for the walled IOS garden. Apple has great interoperability between their devices that the walled garden enables. I kinda see Peloton in the same light as Apple. Peloton (like Apple) seems to excel within the confines of their system, but there’s limited cross platform capability, unlike a smart trainer that can use a variety of apps (a la Android).
      So while I could cobble together a smart trainer and various components to provide the data for the metrics (and I love data) and have the freedom to use various apps (peloton digital, Zwift, Fulgaz, etc), Peloton seems to put it all together in one walled garden.
      I’m recovering from a crash that resulted in significant injuries (front tire blew at about 30 mph) and will be off the bicycle for a while. So if I can find a suitable system, I might replace a fair amount of my outside riding if I can be suitably engaged/entertained by the trainer. That may be a tall order, and I might find some of the shorter training classes to satisfy my desire to conquer the road. I dunno.
      The good news is that I don’t have to worry about tires and weather with an indoor trainer. The bad news is that I fear boredom almost as much. I have no interest in hooking my road bike up to a trainer and just watching tv. I have a fluid trainer I used twice and parked it. So whatever I do, will involve a dedicated smart trainer, as best I see my way forward right now.

    Did Peloton Add any more then the 3 guided scenic rides? Seems like it was released and now is stale and likely on the chopping block again?

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  2 года назад +2

      Just checked and they have 4. No idea what is going on here. You would not think they would introduce a new ride type unless they planned to continue to build on it.

      @@Learnwithtravis Thank you, as I researched which one to purchase (your videos very helpful thank you!), I was about to pull trigger on peloton since it added the Scenic rides that I loved that the Nordic track had. However consider its been 7 months and no added rides I'm starting to doubt. Love the content wish you a great 2022!

      while I complained like crazy about it, after looking at some other apps, I realized how old Peloton's were. I am using VirtualActiveRoam, which is $9.99 a month, but I really love it. It has guided rides, and you can change your resistance to work with what they are increasing or deceasing. They also have hikes and runs which also work great with the bike.

    The fact that Peloton doesnt have auto adjust resistance controlled by the app/coach is criminal, especially for outdoor rides, I would never spend that kind of money on exercise equipment that lacks this feature.

    I guess you are trying to stay positive, but your off-handed listing of the removal of the leaderboard suggest that you under-appreciate a significant draw for a major section of the Peloton subscriber base. There were some good additions in the scenic rides function, but removing the competitive motivator wipes out any of the improvements for a lot of riders. To ignore that in your video is a major gap.

      I think we are looking at it from different angles. This was the first time I had seen and and tested instructor led scenic rides on Peloton. For me, this was brand new content meaning they did not take anything away from it... this is how they introduced it. I thought it was a great start and now they have the opportunity to improve it by added functionality from studio rides that has not been implemented on these. Great start and room for improvement.

RUclips has plenty of free ones, and all are a higher quality then what Peloton had.
