Surfboard is a super useful rescue tool out to about 400 feet from shore. We have one for water rescue in the lakes in our district and can get to someone much faster with it than using the boat.
I grew up there. I think I saw my brother's house on the hill. SLO county Sheriff used to have (in the 90s) a custom 4 door bronco (made by centerion on an F350 chassis) just for the summer runs on Pismo Beach.
I went to Pismo and San Luis Obis last year! I saw a lot of mobile homes which reminds me there's a mobile home lot next to my house and fire trucks go down my street to get there!
0:35 I remember growing up, back when I was a kid. Alot of my local ambulances here in Tennessee had the Strobe/Halogen rotator Whelen Advantage Model version of those Rota-Beams Lightbars.
The drift was cool, nice 4x4 ambulance as well. How long were you in the area to get all these clips..most the time I vacation I'm lucky to see one unit go by.
Given the nature of the environment and terrain of my part of the west, seeing 4 x 4 and 6 x 6 fire apparatuses is nothing new. what was new, to me was seeing a 4 x 4 ambulance! That was neat.
Awesome footage. As a kid growing up near Fresno this bring backs so many child hood family memories with people no longer with me. We used to go vacation at least once or twice a year at pismo and walk around 5 cities outlets and arroyo grand. Would always stop at the apple farm in San Luis on the way back home
Worked for Pismo Beach when it was still a Vol. Dept. way before CDF/ Cal Fire- We had some cool equipment, including jet skis and a '71 Toyota Landcruiser Jeep for Lifeguarding...
Great catches...Surfboard on Type 3, 4X4 Ambulance, Code 3 Motor Officer, State Park Ranger drifting. Thanks for sharing your vacation pictures, looks like you picked great weather too.
Looks like at least one day they had some strong winds though. I've searched throughout my ICS typing materials and find no mention of surfboards anywhere. I would suggest adding an "S" to the end of any engine so equipped. It would seem as though some Cleveland NF, Los Padres NF and the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (USFS administered) need surfboards on their rigs. Angeles NF patrol rigs and engines have full length backboards so why not? The Los Padres NF Pacific Valley Station would have "Engine 317S" and "Patrol 17S." There is already USFS national direction that all reserve engines get an "R" following the number, so there is precedence. 😉
E64 is up there on the list of confusing units in the county. They always rotate the rig out with its "twin" 2017 Spartan, or the old KME. This unit is the 2013 Spartan, which the county bought along with ME15. Usually whatever is rotated out is E63, and there's also another old engine (the last I saw of it was in 2017) that apparently serves as E263, and kept in a field.
Funny about that area, 1. Five Cities are actually 3 cities (Pismo Beach, Grover Beach and Arroyo Grande) and a Community Service District (Oceano). Shell Beach is a neighborhood of Pismo Beach. 2. Five Cities Fire Authority only covers Grover Beach, Arroyo Grande, and Oceano. Pismo Beach did not want to go in on it, but contracted with CalFire. But they roll on each others calls due to mutual aid agreements.
1. I miss having a job where i can blast along in a modified 4x4. 2. Half that lightbar is off, and i wonder if thats a vehicle that has a "blue switch" If so, im pretty sure they could have configured it better, like that first truck.
This one could have been a seasonal lifeguard. Full time Cal State Lifeguards are Peace Officers. They go to the same academy as the park rangers. Seasonal ones are not. Only peace officers in California may run blue lights.
Because traffic is supposed to yield to the right. Not for long. County air pollution control district had forced State Parks to shut down off road vehicle to the dunes within 2 or 3 years. Cause is dust being kicked up and being blown onshore onto the Nipomo Mesa. They have already said the next step is to close down all vehicle access to the beach.
Holy crap if this was on your vacation you must have had the most boring vacation in history. Last vacation I had all I did was fish for six days in the mountains of California, I didn't even hear a siren. So sorry for you if you think this is fun.
Born and raised there plus started my career there with CAL FIRE now retired, great footage.
The first type 3 I have ever seen with a surfboard👏
Me too, but that's because I live in North Dakota. Not too many beaches here.!
@@p71collector 😂😂😂
That type 3 is stationed at the Shell Beach Station, CAL FIRE provides fire protection for the city of Pismo Beach.

9:19 man that drift was insane. Nice!
wow you lied to me, small slide not really a drift :(
Yea nah that wasn't exactly a "insane drift" that was weak.
Well, at least it was a drift not really a big one.

4:12 . That white pickup license plate . So wholesome
I just love it
0:00 Quite the police “baja” truck
At 4:38, the green truck was a Fish and Wildlife Game Warden. Probably checking fishing licenses for the surf fishers.
The lifeguards at the end were smiling and I would also! That drift was amazing

This video is golden.. keep on with these videos! BTW that RAM drifting at the end was incredibily cool.
1st time I've seen a surfboard on a Calfire type 3 engine. 2:19
*Rescue board (rescue prone paddleboard).
Incredible catch of many cool rigs! Thanks!
The drift was cool, nice 4x4 ambulance as well.

Worked for Pismo Beach when it was still a Vol. Dept. way before CDF/ Cal Fire- We had some cool equipment, including jet skis and a '71 Toyota Landcruiser Jeep for Lifeguarding...
1:17 that tower sounds damn good
Indeed
I laughed when I saw that tundra with the "I cool" license plate
A lifted ambulance with a bull bumper and all terrains, I've seen it all now lol

My grandfather used to live roughly 17 miles from San Luis Obispo in nearby Arroyo Grande
You gotta love the plate on the older tacoma at 4:17!

I was surprised when I realized you were recording in my hometown area.

Man I miss pismo, such a great area
I watched this video just to find the red steady burn light 😂😂
Actually really dig the simulated rotator pattern on SLO BC2
Whelen rotabeam is weird but I dig it
I love the drift at the end
I am surprised you haven't came to the river fire in colfax it's 26'000 acres big
It’s time for a Baja build on that F250 would have been the in half the time
So what happened on the beach and was it a successful rescue/response ?
1. I miss having a job where i can blast along in a modified 4x4.
2. Half that lightbar is off, and i wonder if thats a vehicle that has a "blue switch" If so, im pretty sure they could have configured it better, like that first truck.

What happened on the beach to need so many emergency crews

Dat lightbar on dat ambo tho!!
Love SLO!!!
nice drift to whoever was driving the last ram of the lifeguard
9:18 when she says shes home alone
Lmao
That first truck is sick as fuck! I love that!!
Lots Of Winds
That drift was smooth! nice catches!
Perfect catches
I know why they have them; it makes perfect sense. But it's still amusing to see surfboards on fire apparatus.
Sirons going from all directions today. What the heck was going on. Almost an hour straight probably staged drill🤔
Nice video of slo
I use to live in San Luis Obispo. It was awesome seeing this brings back memories
Amazing video!
Cool video.
Miss living in San Luis opisbo and los Osos
I pressed subscribe using my nose ☺️
What are they responding to
What was it about some beach bunny break a nail?
Great catches !
Saved the best for last.
Why are there so many civilian cars parked on the beach? Can't people walk for 100m?
Can someone explain the move at 7:12 ? Why was the opposite lane of traffic chosen?
Because traffic is supposed to yield to the right. When there is traffic that is staying there, and they actually have somewhere to move, you pass on the left because it never fails that at the last second they will try to get to the right.

5:59 Nice love woop
8:18 was probably chasing a speeder.
Great Clips!! what do you use to film?
Cars on the beach?
wow

Modern day Nightcrawler starring Jake Gyllenhaal only with better cameras
surf board on calfire unit is that normal?
Nope
What exactly happened
What exactly happened??
What happened?
8:24 and I thought Jeremy Dewitt was on live
What’s a code 3?
It’s a code mean that they can respond with lights and siren
Wat happened
Oh a Tesla
State Parks are buying some cheap lightbars. On two trucks, only half were working.
Might be a seasonal lifeguard. They are not allowed to run blue lights because they are not peace officers.
Sweet😃
Jesus saves
California has the worst emergency vehicles ever
Are you awake or sleeping. This is your money being used to respond to nothing..
wtf are you talking about?
