I’m so glad Suzanne Reinstein’s beautiful work will live on in her books. Thank you Mary for this review and the elegant section on the gift of a handwritten letter with a lovely wax seal. 💕💕💕
I almost didn't watch this video because of the radioactive green on the walls and the ceiling. Was I ever surprised, I really liked this designer's style. Thank you, Mary for all your hard work. My husband and I just moved into a new house, and I didn't know where to start with decorating... But this channel has given me boatloads of useful knowledge. Have a wonderful day 💐
I recently added 2 new books to my large collection of home decorating books ~ after I saw your review of them. Thank you for bringing these to us each week and wishing it was twice a week. 😊
Ms Rheinstein had a classy touch. Her style reflected elegance and special warmth in all her decorations. She was a very giving person. Thank you for today's book review and for showing us your very special collection of seals.
Thank you for yet another beautiful video on a decorator I was not familiar with, and a thoughtful tribute to Suzanne Rhinstein, whose life was devoted to the comfort & beauty of fine interior design, I particularly like some of her color combinations. I especially enjoyed the latter part of the video about the hot wax seals---still used today by some, as well as in the days of the Middle Ages! I have always loved how elegant, and so very personal, a letter with a wax seal and an ornamental initial can be. It is such a regal way of leaving an elegant impression! Letter writing has almost become extinct in an age where time passes so quickly---yet sometimes simple things, that add such deep meaning to Life, get ignored! I am reminded of all the letters and cards that I have kept close to my heart for so many years; I remember my mother's beautiful penmanship and her special writing instrument that no one was allowed to handle. I so appreciate your sense of meaningful connections to Life, Mary---that is the special element included that I so enjoy when I watch your videos! Love & Light!
What a sweet message! I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. I also remember the "special pen'' my dad used. Fortunately, I now have it. My father was the one with the beautiful penmanship in our family. I remember when penmanship was graded and placed on the report card. In the majority of public schools they don't even teach cursive anymore. When I was made aware of this I had many letters and notes from my dad that I showed my son (in order to motivate him to let me teach him cursive). It worked! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Her design style was truly impeccable almost with a nod to the French would it's beautiful symmetry an understatement her awareness of the natural use of light reminds me of bunny Mellon and her design principles this woman is obviously someone who I will study as a designer and Florist myself I am happy to have found her and I wish her Godspeed
Sad for the world to lose such a multitalented designer. Fortunate that her legacy lives on in her wonderful books she left for us. Her ability to create timeless beauty was extraordinary. I especially loved her bold, exuberant, green lacquered ceilings and walls. Sealing wax is such great fun! Yes, I use it. In our fast paced world of quick emails, any person who receives a hand written note and an envelope sealed with wax should feel honored. It is wonderful to revive forgotten practices of old that add class and elegance. As always, your video was a delight, thx.
Thank you Mary for another exquisite book! I enjoyed it very much and think I'm going to purchase this one. I enjoy the wax stamps and appreciate receiving mail with that on there. I purchased one myself a couple years ago and that I enjoy using it. Looking forward to the next book.
Mary thanks for the information on the wax seals, especially the part about the popes and how the ceremoniously attend to the seal after death. We used wax seals on our 25th wedding anniversary invites ( 28 years ago). I remember the many comments about how special that was to receive an envelope with a seal. Do you know if they can still be used for mailing? So many changes at the post office. Thanks for a wonderful & beautiful book review. She was a special lady.
I enjoyed reading your comment. I do know the postal service will accept wax sealed envelopes as I have sent some recently. I think that’s great that you had a wax seal for your 25th wedding anniversary celebration. So, if my math is correct you were married in 1970? That’s the year my aunt and uncle were married. My aunt wanted Dionne Warwick to come and sing for the occasion, but no such luck! Thanks for watching.
Restrained elegance, indeed. I enjoyed every page you showed us and will add this book to my wish list. Thank you for a great review Mary! I also enjoyed your wax seal information and tutorial. 🤗 Side note: I ordered the "return to pretty " book thanks to your review and I started a little wish list for our bedroom make over. Thank you so much for your reviews and inspiration! By the way, I also gifted the book to a friend who also needed little inspiration!😊 Have a wonderful weekend Mary!
You have a wonderful weekend as well! I was quite smitten with "Return to Pretty" and the simple beauty in each room. I was inspired to update a guest room in pink and blue. It looks simple, but the list that goes along with the update says otherwise. 😜
Hello Mary, Thank you for another great book review. I enjoyed following along with you as I look through the pages seeking out how fabric and carpets were used in Suzanne's designs. I was so saddened to hear Suzanne passed away shortly after this book was published. I imagine her to be a lovely person, and I definitely agree with her belief of "home". I love the idea of sealing wax however never thought of using it. I usually place a sticker of some kind on the back of my greeting cards and sealing wax would be unique in today's hectic life! I'm going to look for it! Have a wonderful day. Hugs! :)
What a sad but also beautiful story. Having some worldly possessions stored away to have them burn up can be quite devastating but it also reminds me of a passage in the Bible about coveting our possessions only to have them stolen or eaten by moths. In this case fire took them away. So her idea to move on is EXACTLY what one should do for none of it is truly ours but only in loan.
Beautifully designed and presented review gorgeous rooms thoughtful commentary on who knew the Popes only get one signet ring and they destroy it when His Holiness dies Seals on rings are worn these day's people m8ght not notice the intricacies of the designs but they have huge sentiment for the owners
I was shocked to read that the Pope's ring was destroyed (melted down) and there was an entire ceremony that went along with it. I do have an appreciation for signet rings, especially ones I find at estate sales.
Thanx for posting, till next week🥰
Loved your very interesting lesson an the wax seals. Thank you
I love how your jewelry reflect the colours in the books, how lovely.. Always look forward to your books, thank you 💕
I'm so glad you like the books. Yes- I had to break out the emerald green. That cover was very inspiring. 😁
Beautiful and very informative / interesting portion about wax seals ❤
Thanks for watching. 💗
Matching jewelry to the book's cover wasn't lost on me. Such a thoughtful detail.
That emerald green cover was inspiring. I'm not bold enough to paint an entire room like that, but I will definitely "paint" with jewelry! 😁
@@thetartantopiary I've heard it referred to as "Color Drenching." Makes for a great book cover.
Such a great unique channel 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Thank you!
Thank you Mary, a beautiful tribute to Suzanne.

Yes, I'm glad Suzanne was able to see her third book published. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing this very special book. I really enjoyed your lovely stamp collection and elegant writing desk. 🌷

Thank you for another lovely, peaceful video. Such a wonderful memorial to her beautiful design. The sealing wax, letter writing …. So nice to see.
Thanks for watching, Mary! 💗

~What a wonderful sole! Her work just spilled beauty out like water in every project! ~A life well lived.
💫 Love this!
I agree with your beautiful analogy. 💗

What a beautiful book. Thank you for the seals and the information...I agree nothing can replace a handwritten note/letter.
I just received this book yesterday. Looking forward to getting into it as well as your review. Always learn more here.
Thank you for that- I think you'll enjoy the book.

Thank you for the review of this beautiful book. I just love your videos.
I am so glad. I appreciate you taking a moment to let me know!
Such a lovely and beautifully featured designer, you capture the essence of the design with such a unique and thoughtful presentation, thank you!
I love your Victorian bangle bracelet! I have a collection. It looked lovely in your video with your watch and green beaded bracelet.
Thank you very much. A few of my bracelets are estate pieces, but the one in this video one was made by Julie Vos. I love her jewelry.
Oh thank you for showing the wax seal truly a treat
Suzanne's beautiful interiors resonated with me. (I guess I'm leaning classic/traditional.) I loved the moody green bedroom. 🌿
Thank you for another lovely video. The wax seals brought back memories from my childhood. I lived in seven countries while growing up. 😊

Thank for such a beautiful book, a mixture of beauty and sadness.
I love the music that you select for your videos.
Please don’t forget my offer.

The "i" in her last name is a long "i". Not an e sound.
