_Halo..._ The decades old poster certainly hadn't avoided time's hand, but compared to the tattered scrapes and soiled strips that remain almost invisible on the wall, this one seemed pristine. It stopped her dead in her tracks. Guns, space, a world of adventure, and one badass lookin' dude in armor ready to get shit done. It lit up almost every part of her brain where excitement lived. "Whoooaa! Joel, who's this guy?! Is this a movie?" "No. It was a video game, actually." He said, feeling a tiny bit of nostalgia upon eyeing the image. Thoughts of downtime with Tommy killing a few spare hours; of Sarah -rolling her eyes at the two of them getting so into a round of deathmatch. "Damn good one I recall. Shooting aliens, shooting each other. It was a lot of dumb violence." He took a moment to look at Ellie, still under the poster's spell. He allowed himself a smirk. "You probably would've loved it." "Fuck, man. I definitely would've!" She sighed. With a suck of her teeth, they both continued on.
was the start of the faster bit at 0:42 keyed to the reveal of Master Chief behind you simply a coincidence, or did you plan that? EIther way, that gave me chills. Also, holy crap, that entire cover was amazing as heck.
Less “epic Sci-Fi journey” and rather, more of a “pre climax Western build up”, (“gathering supplies to save your sister, release the stolen cattle, and blow up that good-for-nothing McGregor’s Family Ranch”, kinda vibe). Well done. I only wished you had the guitar drum on a loop to carry you through to the end.
As someone who was in junior high/highschool when this game came out, and played it a ton with friends during the true good old days of life. This is incredible to hear, it carries the same nostalgia as the original with a new layer of beauty added to an already perfect video game soundtrack. Gives me chills remembering those simple times. Im 36 now and haven't played a console in almost a decade. Cherish the time spent with your friends and without the stress of life. It doesn't last. But it can always be remembered through things of this nature, vividly, and beautifully as well💪🏼🙏

@@pedxing ok, why can I imagine this being the theme for cheif after him and his group of Spartans dropping onto a ring, but getting shot out of the air part way and having their stuff destroyed, making it so their stuff like their AI's, vehicles, food, and ammo unusable from damage to a luggage part of the drop pod, and forcing them to just rely on nothing more then stolen covenant equipment and scraps from the other soldiers who got massacred when the Spartans didn't make it to the drop location in time
I’m sure this meant alot to you, but it means alot to us, the Halo players since we were kids. This is the game me and my best friend played ONLY for years, still to this day I have kept my xbox so we can play it together. Through family issues and college, we always meet up to play.
This almost feels like a moment of quiet respite, as if Master Chief is sitting by a campfire, helmet taken off, taking a moment to recall the moments of the many that had fallen in the midst of a massive battle. As the night skies draw away like the curtains and reveal the morning sun, Master Chief puts his helmet back on understanding that peace is often short-lived when won through the means of battle, and that there will always be a force within the universe that will try to threaten that calm now present within the galaxy… Until the last of the Covenant was obliterated, he would continue fighting until the day he no longer had to, or he had fallen in battle. Not a moment sooner.

Back in high school I wanted to take Guitar Class. At the time I didn't know that the class was only for learning Classical Guitar. Man, one of the best decisions of my life. Not only did I learn to read notes and gain a legitimate understanding of rhythm and tempo, I gained a true appreciation for an entirely new facet of music. Plus our teacher was amazing, the man didn't even know how to actually play guitar, he was learning with us the whole time. But he knew music and how to teach it. We also convinced him to let us join up with the school orchestra to perform a cover of Symphony and Metallica for our Homecoming show one year.
the cool thing is that in renditions such like this, you basically combine the musical melody with the choir melody, which is sung. So this gives it maybe a different vibe but allows you to accentuate different parts, which gives it still a connection to the original but also elevates it above a mere "cover" for lack of better term. I also massively enjoy some metal songs transcribed to orchestra because I am always curious what choices these guys made, so how or rather what guitarline do you transpose to which instruments? Rhythmic ones? wind instruments? just changing that can make a massive change. Obviously, here we only have one guitar, but your instrumentarium or rather your choices, i.e. playing more percussive in parts like here massively influence the vibe you are creating, i.e. here like some commentors elaborated "campfire" vibes. This could have easily been a neo-classical guitar arrangement as well. TLDR: cool rendition of that theme, I liked the musical choices.
This was absolutely beautiful. Thank you youtube for randomly showing this to me. And thank you BeyondTheGuitar for blessing my ears with something I didnt know that I needed
I hope the average viewer realizes just how wild your arrangement is at 1:33. I'm in awe at how well you pulled that off! Congrats, on the whole. This seems like it was a piece written for the classical guitar.
@@cannedbread3125 this is nothing about being pretentious, to the average person without any instrumental knowledge or even a beginner, they probably couldn't fathom the incredible amount of skill required to play that arrangment, I know I wouldn't, I probably would have just thought it was a cool technique, my jaw literally fucking dropped

The decades old poster certainly hadn't avoided time's hand, but compared to the tattered scrapes and soiled strips that remain almost invisible on the wall, this one seemed pristine. It stopped her dead in her tracks. Guns, space, a world of adventure, and one badass lookin' dude in armor ready to get shit done. It lit up almost every part of her brain where excitement lived.
"Whoooaa! Joel, who's this guy?! Is this a movie?"
"No.
It was a lot of dumb violence."
He took a moment to look at Ellie, still under the poster's spell. He allowed himself a smirk. "You probably would've loved it."
"Fuck, man. I definitely would've!" She sighed. With a suck of her teeth, they both continued on.
