I get the tarantula into a funnel and gently prod it until it goes into the paper towel tube. Sometimes, they go in quite willingly, because the paper towel tube seems like a safe refuge in comparison to the funnel.

I've been watching this channel among many others like Clint's Reptiles, Snake Discovery, Tarantula Kat, etc. I currently have 2 tarantulas and 3 different snakes. One thing that I don't think you mentioned about the shipping options, if I remember correctly Fedex is the only one that you can legally ship tarantulas/venomous animals with, so its probably a red flag if a seller offers any other company.
omg I have to add, when I got my first two T's I wasn't expecting to get addicted so I though that getting one of those larger pressure sprayers would be unnecessary for me. I ended up getting a little spray bottle that you have to squeeze repeatedly to dispense water and that was such a huge mistake xD the thing barely was enough to fill the two water dishes and by the end my hand was cramping from having to squeeze so many damn times.
I now have a proper pressure sprayer and its a life saver, so to any new keeper reading this don't make this mistake, even if you only have a few T's getting a larger pressure sprayer is absolutely necessary! (unrelated to the video sorry, I just remembered this when you mentioned to have your water sprayer handy)

    • @amicaaranearum
      @amicaaranearum 3 года назад

Sort of. Technically, it is also against FedEx policy to ship venomous animals or non-venomous animals unless you're a business shipping to a business. However, this is not *illegal* -- just against company policy.
I summarized the legality of various U.S. shipping options here: arachnoboards.com/threads/law-on-shipping-live-invertebrates.291310/

Favourite/only dealer for me is Tarantula Canada. I am indebted to them for getting me a 1.5" Female B. hamorii. My dream tarantula back in 2011. She came in a small vial. I unpacked her as gently as possible. Now, she is a glorious 4.5-5" beauty. Use common sense. Setup the enclosure BEFORE you get the animal, be patient on the initial transfer and you'll have a pet to enjoy for (hopefully) many years. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)

Super useful information. Love the list of reputable sellers.
Another note I would like to add, a lot of times you can have a package held at a location other then a hub. There is usually a list of FedEx pickup locations you can pick from. For me I have mine sent to a Walgreens near me. Its a temperature controlled environment and it makes it an easy pickup for me since I'm usually at work on days of my deliveries and I can't be home. My nearest FedEx location won't let me have packages held there for some reason

All of the slings arrived safe and healthy and I have had no issues with them at all. And their responses via e-mail are usually same or next day. Very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. Also for fast and defensive species even for slings I'd usually rehouse within another enclosure or the bath tub because u never know even a 2cm obt or cobalt blue can give you a run for your money and for nervous or first time owners it's not worth a speedy sling escaping and you having to tell parents or family I personally like the security of another tub or the bath just to minimize escapes and and the stress of looking for a needle in a haystack chances are the sling is gone forever at sling size and you'll never find it

Dude no way... one of my last videos showed me unbox and rehouse... then rehouse again a LP. Because I chose an enclosure too big at first. Luckily, I have many options. Lol

I am really interested in purchasing western black widow spider to add to my collections... I hope I could purchase some from you or to who you highly recommend who breeds black widow spider as a pet/collection. Thank you for your time and looking forward to hear from you. Jojo

    Hey Richard!
I hope you’re ready to be hit right in the feels 😂!
I just found your channel maybe a week and a half ago and just wow Richard, WOW!! Easily my new favourite Tarantula Channel and I follow 9 Tarantula Channels including yours! Really your only opponent in my opinion is Tarantula Haven, I do enjoy the other ones though!
Just so you know, I do follow both your channels and your Instagram!
I’m a high school student who has a passion for reptiles and arachnids.
I hope to be involved with the them one day, I actually want to breed reptiles one day, it’s been my dream for years!
I really hope you see this message Richard! If you have a minute, could you maybe reply?
    Much love from Canada Richard!
I honestly don’t know what to say about your channel, it’s amazing, one of the best I’ve seen in a long long time! The quality, your sense of humour, I could go on and on and on Richard but I’ll end it here!
    Really hope you reply!

You deserved every word in my first comment Richard, like I said you are probably my favourite RUclipsr, funny thing is I found you through Tarantula Haven ( somewhat).
