What’s awesome about your videos is you’re not just showing off your beautiful collection, you legit show people how to take care of these gorgeous spiders on their own with great care and detail. You’re awesome and thanks for putting up these videos👍❤️
Oooo... nice tip on the industrial-grade gloves; I had no idea those were a thing. I've been using basic lab gloves and they're really too thin for rehousing and such, coconut fiber inevitably punctures them.
@@justinfenningsdorf3741 I looked around online and wasn't able to find any comparable gloves in x-small/small sizes. It's frustrating, but not unusual. I'll be sure to check the next time I'm picking up auto supplies though. Thanks!
Hey! Head light is a good idea. I hold a small mag light in my mouth when I'm working around. Lol! The red light feature is great. Thanks for the tips as I am a beginner keeper.
I don't have any spiders yet. I'm in research phase before I start my tarantula collection and this was hugely helpful to start thinking about what I need in my spider care tool kit.
I can vouch for the headlamp - I've got one with a white focus LED, red LED, and diffuse white LED. Just toggles through the options with the power button. Helps with night filming as well.
This is the Best spider channel ever !! Also like to add that my Arizona blonde only gets fiji bottled water in her dish ...cuz shes spoiled with only the best of the best
I also really like pipettes. That way I can place water drops where I want them easily for slings that are to small for water dishes. Perfect for my C. versicolor sling. Just place a drop near the net and she comes out to drink 🙂
Great video and tools for tarantulas. One thing I do if I get haired is tape. It helps get the hairs out. I do the same thing with fiberglass. But gloves is a must. Especially when cleaning. But again great video and tools. Thanks for sharing
Thanks! I have tried tape, letting hot wax harden and the peel off, Hydrocortisone cream, benadryl, even went to the doctor and got a prescription strength hydrocortisone cream. It takes the edge off for sure and helps...but nothing works as well as not getting the hairs on the skin in the first place. lol
Thank you for the education you've shared to us. I always watch your videos and it gives me an idea on how to properly care TS! Thank you the TARANTULA COLLECTIVE❤
Have you looked into a green or different colors for your led head lamp? I heard that tarantulas like most spiders react to colored laser lights. We know we shouldn’t point Lasers in T eyes! I have a green pointer on a hand help lamp that I like to illuminate but I need to be very mindful of where I point it. I was liking the headlamp and wanted to keep the color since it seems to work well. I need my hands free with some good glove coverage. This was a good video. I needed to here some of this advice. My Indian ornament T raised up on me and showed me her fangs for the first time ever while I was watering the substrate with a bottle that was meant to mimicking rain(light drizzle). I back off to give space immediately. I feed latter and this morning she greeted me with a fang cleaning of thanks. I am definitely taking your watering and other advice. Thanks
I came from IG- in Jason and blaze the beardies. I'm a super new T mama as well. I have a salmon pink on the way tues. and tmro I'm hitting up my reptile shop for at least 2 Ts to start up my collection.
“Tarantulaing” lmao. This channel is going to grow bigger and bigger I’m so excited :) gloves are a good touch. You’re really good in front of a camera 👍🏻 The words roll like gravel 👌🏻
+1 on gloves. I hate the hairs. I get the little bumps too and they're always in the crease between my fingers. I hadn't thought of the headlamp with the red light.
Hey I saw your cat in the room, I know your a safe dude, but for all your viewers, somehow back in the day my cat launched all the way to my closet top shelf, knocked down my oldest Ts enclosure and sadly my T died from bursted abdomen. Just a word of caution with other pets or kids.
I’m still waiting for my first hair encounter. I’m allergic to most types of tree and keep/breed chickens so usually all spring (chick season) I have horrible hand rashes from the pine shavings so I’m used to suffering for my art, so to speak. I’m hoping I don’t have the terrible stinging nettle level reaction some people do, but I’m betting I will. I use a laboratory “squirt” bottle for watering and I LOVE it! I can have excellent control of the stream and even hold the bottle damn near upside down.
Lab squirt bottle...nice suggestion...i will have to look into that..thanks for the tip! Be sure to use gloves and even wear long sleeves...and you wont have to worry about that first hair encounter. Especially if you are sensitive..it isnt much fun :)
I'm really enjoying your tips, instructions and information. I do have a question about small grow light bulbs to keep my (glass aquarium) housings warm and for lighting...is this a good idea, or should I just use a regular or LED light? Also, I have a Costa Rican zebra stripe knee and I haven't found a video specific for that species; or have I looked hard enough? Again, I'm really enjoying and learning a lot about my three T's that I've recently acquired. Thanks so much!
Would a turkey baster work as an inexpensive alternative to the misting bottle? I have tons of vials for containing water, but your point about not getting your hand in the enclosure when it can be avoided makes a ton of sense.
Who doesnt use a mister?! Great for watering roots of plants. The strong spray cleans out water dishes. And perfect for saturating one side of the tank.
@@tarantulacollective I've been watching your videos non stop. Most professional in the game. I use to have up to 80Ts but got out of the hobby for the last 6 years only keeping a balfouri from a sac I had. I'm being pulled back in. Starting a communal soon. Also picking up a pulchra, couple gbb, robustum, and anything else that catches my eye. Thanks for the content!
You don't actually want to mist the inside and the tarantula you want to jet spray water to one side on the enclosure or fill up the water bowl ,basically don't actually spray the tarantula
I thought you said nothing heavy in enclosures. I've seen you and Kat use aquarium decoration in your enclosures. Very dangerous especially if they fall on it and it collapses a burrow. It can happen while you're sleeping.
I'm curious what you're reffering to. Bc I don't put any heavy "aquarium decor" in my enclosures that could possibly fall and cause any damage. I do use light weight decorations that resemble rocks and other things that maybe you're mistaken for something that "looks heavy" but actually isn't heavy.
The water I keep in there usually doesnt last very long. I usually fill it up 2 or 3 times when I water all the T's and it is empty by the time I am done. I use repti safe or other water dechlorinators, but i wouldnt leave water in there for more than a few days in case it starts stagnating. I always prefer to use fresh water, but it is sealed and presurized like bottled water, so it could be fine for longer i would think...though I am not sure about that.

Did you ever end up getting any?
This was great. So many things that should have been common sense - gloves and a red head light. A lot of great tips I didn't expect. Thanks!
Loved the video man!! Great tools I'm running out to get boxes of gloves and a headlight.

good basic info i needed to know
I got my first hand full of hairs a couple months ago definitely not fun i totally need those gloves thanks for the tip.
they are a REAL lifesaver!
The headlamp! Oh, goodie! One more gadget I can get! Love it!
Really good video man 👍🏻 very handy tools for beginner tarantula keepers 🕷
Very educational! I knew 3 of these but hadn't thought og gloves or a headlamp.

High five and like for the btc shirt. Not financial advice but if I were a tarantula keeper I would buy a sh*t load of XRP. Ching.
Want to know what you use now when you fill up water bowls or make the substrate wet. That it looks like a spray gun or something ????

Hi what do you use for drinking water in your terrenum thank you for your help 😁!

I notice a lot of your terrariums are lit up, how long do you keep the Ts under light? On a timer to simulate Daylight Cycles?

Just from observation alone seems a rectangle or square cup would work better. Maybe not?
What about safety goggles?

Can tarantula open a fish tank lid? 10 gallon tank
yes. an adult tarantula can easily push up a lid on a 10 gallon tank escape. they sell lid clips though for very cheap that lock them into place.
