Im late in seeing this video, but I LOVE the fact that you describe what your hair is like when in need of a trim! Your hair is gorgeous!
I also get dryness, increased shedding/breakage and the ends are more prone to knots. This happens for me every 3-4 months. Dusting ( 1/4 in) the ends every 3-4 months really helps prevents this issue. A TRIM ( 1/2 inch or more) is necessary once or twice a year ( and would replace the dusting for that month).
I literally just did this because I need my ends trimmed so bad but Salons are closed! I didnt know it was a name for it: “curl dusting”! 😹😹

You know, I was told she needed to blow it out, but not straightening it.. she tried to cut it in it natural state and when I tell you it was a hot mess and sooo uneven i was a little in my feelings, and that's when I went to the natural stylist and she blew it out and trimmed it to make it even. What should I do?.. I have a lot of shrinkage to.
I prefer trimming on either blown out hair or straightened hair (I rarely straighten it so I always get a more precise cut when I do). I find less gets cut on blown out hair than curly hair because of shrinkage.
