I had forgotten this song. Now is stuck in my head. I want to go back to Vegas again but I don't want to leave. Who is listening to this gem the last day of January 2024
Me. On February 2nd 2024😊
I’ve been listening to it since the late 90’s, back when I fully didn’t grasp what the song was about! Now it’s 2/6/24!
I had forgotten it too until I heard it in the grocery store this morning and was like, that’s a great song😂
"I'm standing in the middle of the desert waiting for my ship to come in" - that's good writing right there
Yeah, that's my favorite line. And I love how she delivers it.
And the following line too: “But now no joker, no jack, no king
Can take this losing hand and, and make it win.”
2:28
"I'm standing in the middle of the desert waiting for my ship to come in"
Aren't we all?
Still Waitng. Be here soon for sure. Gotta go long sometaim.
😂😂😂
Perfect song about the city I live in for 10 years🎰
"I'm banging' on my TV set...and I check the odds and I place my bet..."
I've always loved that line so much! I feel like I've definitely had that feeling even though I've never had any desire to go into an actual casino. I suppose a lot of things in life are "bets" made out of desperation.
Gosh yeah, it is an analogy for many stops in my life!!
Miss the 90s
This music video is very well done. I love that Elvis always land gracefully.
"Such a muddy line between The things you want And the things you have to do" Epic Lyrics !
Love Sheryl
That line can give you The Feels, cause if you're over 30, you can so RELATE to that very line
One of Sheryl Crow's best.
Sheryl Crow is 10 steps ahead of everyone.
Lived in Pennsylvania truck driver, used to haul ass to barstow or vegas specially in winter loved it out there, hang out to go to los Angeles loved those days mid eighties, fun times
I’m from PA but never been to Barstow, but I’ve always loved that line. Just the place name ‘Barstow’ sounds so cool.
Greatest Sheryl Crow song, without a doubt.
"I'm standing in the middle of the desert, waiting for my ship to come in."
One of the greatest lyrics ever written.
Amen to that. My Mom (rest in peace) thought it was an awesome line, too.
Welcome to Vegas
@AJB3 who?
guess ill google it?
Reminds me so much of Van Morrison. We leave everything and anything one way or another.
Can remember hearing this on alternative music radio in ‘93, but when All I Wanna Do hit big, this was forgotten.
So dark and beautiful. Haunting, almost scary. Alone, spent, surviving. The pain. Lots of us trying to leave our 'Las Vegas' 'Nowhere is far enough away.'
This song is so underrated. Its so good man
It's extrodinary.
The first single from _Tuesday Night Music Club_ to go platinum.
"Now no Joker, No Jack, No King can take this loser hand and make it win....." such an awesome line....
Great song please check out Sheryl Crow - Tuesday Night Music Club Album Review on my channel
It is so timeless! I like it so much.
YES.
Hell yea!
Totally agree!❤
Took I -15 out of San Diego, heading to LV, always stopped in Barstow. One of the most fun rides in America. This song is one of her best, Strippers like it too. LOL
Hi Randy
This song makes me want to move to Las Vegas, just so I can eventually leave.
Anywhere can become Las Vegas.
U-Haul time, brotherman.
After your broke and hungry
exactly
Literally doing it!
Haunting, catchy.....and makes me want to give up everything and hike off into the desert.......
I am glad that Sheryl Crow is getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023!! She should have been in there a lot earlier!
I didn't know any of that but I agree!
Doesn't it take 25 years from your debut to get in?
She wasn't eligible alot earlier dummy
i left the love of my life today. And this song just keeps playing in my head as I drove off. I think that was a sign that maybe I'll be okay.
PROBABLY THE BEST THING YOU EVER DID.

If he's the love of your life, why'd you leave him? (Most illogical.)
Keep the faith Veronica. You're gonna be okay. Much love sweetie.
sometimes we have to love ourselves first.
I left the 702 in 2009
I looked back while this song played.. I cried leaving.. my kids born there life as I knew it. I left for Chicago.. crazy right ? I live in Florida and living good 😌
Best decision of my life xo
Hi Tracey
Love her since my childhood. She's like the Female version of Tom Petty.
Yes
Nailed it
Sara Holleran 💯💯💯
@@saraholleran5765 damn! You are so right Sara!
That's absolutely who she is. In an age that has passed Tom Petty by.
As for being someone who lives in Vegas, this song is amazing.
Another great 90s tune 😊
This beautiful song by Sheryl Crow always remind me of the classic film Leaving Las Vegas with Elisabeth Shue and Nicholas Clay in the leading roles.🤩😍🥰❤️🔥
That very last killer line as the song fades out … changes the whole perspective. "Not this time". Pure poetry.
"Not this time" because he died
yep. not this time. cause I'm gonna live
@@DSAK55 who died?
That's actually an incorrect take, sorry. The "not this time" is referring to not coming back. So put together in full, it would read as the following and not change the perspective at all:
"Leaving Las Vegas and I won't be back. No, no, no, I won't be back. Not this time."
You can hear it yourself starting at 4:00
@@pedrososap en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_O%27Brien_(novelist)
Whoever conceived and directed this video is an absolute genius.
The director is Howie Felderpants.
Yes
2.9 m. views is an insult to this epic songwriting & cool....
one of my favorite songs of the 90s...some of her best lyrics...i find it's her best song....really underplayed....and I dont understand.... "Such a muddy line between the things you want....and the things you have to do.... " "It's been the best part of my losing streak...."
It’s “Spent the best part of my losing streak in an Army Jeep”
The fact that she could pass for a lounge lizard makes the song much better. :)
Standing in the.midfle of the desert waiting for my ship to come in". A great line.
I remember the very 1st time I heard this on the radio 22 years ago.
Instant Sheryl Crow fan.
There is just no one else quite like her...
...And this video... A surreal and absurdly gorgeous dreamscape...
Leaving Las Vegas never gets old.
"A surreal and absurdly gorgeous dreamscape". Perfect description!
Vin Scelsa's show "Idiot's Delight", I remember it clearly. I heard that infectious rhythm. I said "Wow, that's _greeat_ !" Then the purring vocal kicked in. "I _have_ to know who this is!?!" Vin said her name after it played. I scribbled it down. "Cheryl Crowe" [sic] . Took me a while until I found out the correct spelling, before Internet, ya know. Then I saw the video, and I was hooked. My new favorite singer, and my crush ever since! (And, yes, she's held up!)
+George Trapp Sheryl Crow pretty much just stole the song "Leaving Las Vegas" among other songs such as "All I Wanna Do" and "Strong Enough" from Kevin Gilbert and got away with it since no one but the fellow band mates believed Gilbert.
If you love the lyrics and how those Sheryl Crow songs were composed, then you'd REALLY love to hear more of Kevin Gilbert's work. Hell Kevin Gilbert performed a song called "Miss Broadway" in which he sings about Sheryl Crow stealing his songs. Also the song "Ballad of Jenny Ledge" which was about Sheryl Crow leaving Gilbert for an Elvis Impersonator (yes this actually happened).
@@RamsTheNameCom Nice to see another Gilbert fan!
However small correction: Ballad of Jenny Ledge wasn't about Sheryl Crow, since it was written before they were even together. It was about the girlfriend before. It's a Toy Matinee song, so Kevin even performed that live with Sheryl at the keyboard and backing vocals. That's how they met and she got "discovered", she responded to a newspaper ad about a live keyboardist needed.
But on the other hand, I'm very sure Kevin Gilbert's other song, "The Best of Everything" is about Sheryl too.
"Dear St. Valentine, you've really set me up this time
It seems you've filled my heart up with a girl that's on the climb
And I am just a ladder rung to where she wants to be"
@@RamsTheNameComcan you please explain how she “stole” this song, All I Wanna Do, and Strong Enough from him? Why would he let her do that? He was alive for, what, another 3 years after this album came out. Did he show proof that this was his 100% his work (as a songwriter)? Is there proof today? I’d love to hear more whenever you get a chance. Thanks.
Love the bass guitar riff in this song
The whole backbone of the song is the distinctive bass riff. Take that away and there's practically no song left.
2023 STILL A CLASSIC🔥🔥🔥🔥
I really, really miss 1993.
It speaks for itself
You ain't kidding... wake me when it's over
I miss 1983.

Wait ... its 94 already?
90s songs are so much better than the shit on radio nowadays.
Wait 30 years, you're going to see young people saying that about their own music.
@@fastjeff6It’s hard to believe music could get any worse than the current state it’s in.
I so absolutely agree 😊
This classic song reminds me of my childhood. Don't hear songs like these anymore.
Back in 99, I was hospitalized for drug detox and depression. We had music therapy and a stack of CDs, have played this song from the group and got one of the guys to start dancing. Glad I ccould help somebody feel better.
This song just doesn't get old to me. I love the it!!!!
One of her greatest. Storytellers are such a gift.
great song please check out Sheryl Crow - Tuesday Night Music Club Album Review on my channel
This is the song that happened to come on as I was getting to office on my last day of work. Amazing!
Girl, I should left when you did😂...it took too much. Bittersweet memories..hearing this song:)
This is something I miss the most these days: real female singers.
Your videos should be remasterized. This one and "Strong Enough" are pure gold.
Update: So happy they've remastered her videos. :)
Sheryl Crow ruled the 90s.
LOVE that you hear that Steve Miller "The Joker" bassline thrown in there. Very clever hook and incredible song that is a pop masterpiece!
I had an opportunity to move out of Las Vegas Valley in 2017, and was debating to do so. I turned on the car radio, and as God as my witness, this was playing.
I now live in Upstate New York.
Sheryl is never out of date, I love her songs !
She is amazing so she's leaving Las Vegas today.🎉❤
I still remember catching this video when it was brand-new on MTV back in 1994, long before Sheryl became a big star and the song became a hit. I remember loving it the first time that I saw it, so I kept repeating her name over in my head so that I wouldn't forget it! Within a few weeks my local radio station jumped on the song, and it became a medium-sized hit. I've been a big fan of Sheryl ever since! Of course, the massive "All I Wanna Do" followed, and the rest is history!
F'in 93-94 were some great years for me. Too much fun. really.
Cant believe this is 25 years old.
Rick James 26 now lol
For real!!
Timeless classic true work of art .....TJ Publishing Inc
I know mr James please don't even mention it.
It's 27 now hehe
I live in Vegas and LOVE this song!!?
This is clearly her best song. Great Rock N' Roll for sure!
This song is absolute garbage. The vocals sound like a crow being strangled wishing it would be dead already
Not clearly. But good
Strong enough to be my man a great one too
Not precisely rock and roll, more of folk-tinged country pop
It’s a great one but she has many, many great ones.
heard this about 1000 times working in a supermarket ,, played over and over ,,the only song on that tape i can listen too is this ,,,
I remember in 1999, I lived there with family and was dating a wonderful man. We'd been going out for several months, I told him I loved him but , he never said it back until the day I left Las Vegas, the disc jockeys I was friends with played the song for me and dedicated it to me the day I was about to climb aboard the airplane and come home. I was a cocktail waitress at the Glitter Gulch on Freemont 😢. I miss my 20s sometimes 😢
I am not a Sheryl Crow fan by any stretch of the imagination, however, this whole album was pretty much gold. I remember when it came out, I couldn't get enough of this track. It's so cliche', but damn, do I miss the 90's!
I understand totally.
Miss them too man. Amazing music.
@Snatcher Claus Great song please check out Sheryl Crow - Tuesday Night Music Club Album Review on my channel
I don't get why they don't have this on the radio but there are not many good songs the radio today
This album is amazing, yeah
Great song and she looks beautiful in this video 😉
Hi Joan
I moved to Vegas coincidentally in '94. This song captures the problems and vibes of that town in that time so well. Left in 2010. Loved and hated my time there. I miss it, but don't wanna go back
You should write a song.
The video says it all, always imagining being Elvis or one of those dancers!
I left in '93 for the Navy.
1994 ladies and gentleman, excellent year, memories
I celebrated my 21st Birthday tossing my cake off Hoover Dam when there was only one security guard posted on the Nevada side and one on the Arizona side...... so many good times. ...Glitter Gulch.... The Runnin' Rebels.....The Omnimax...Sams Town....The Hop....buffets anywhere at 3am....Red Rock....I could go on but I had the Best times in Vegas from 1987-1991.... things were much different! I left Las Vegas when it all started to change for the worse.... the 80s in Vegas were some of the best times of my life!
Sun setting in the rearview mirror behind the mountains, song cranked after a couple of days of absolute fun!! TY Vegas, but I have to leave now.
I play this song everytime I leave las vegas, convinced it's for good. But I still always come back.
Sheryl Crow at her best.
1999 Went to Las Vegas to work a job with company was my first time/trip their & stayed about mouth at the age of 21. Long story short when I was leaving Las Vegas driving to my next job this song just happens to be playing on the radio. Wow this was one of my favorite work trips I can remember.
This song makes me want to go wherever Sheryl Crow is at !
Great song - this woman's talent is superb
This song makes me want the 1990’s all over again
Yeah the good old days for sure compared to now imo.
Song brings back of memories of Gordon and the 90’s….ahhhhhh
I just left Vegas....for good, 2 weeks ago. That song should be played on every departing flight at LAS. LOL.
I'm already listening to this while leaving Las Vegas...never ever ever coming back. For good!!!!
lemonadehippie 78 take me with you 😫
lemonadehippie 78 thank you for leaving my city😊
...yet the song continues & you hadn’t left yet. ....like my question says did she? Was she ever there? ...is she really Jen?
The truth is out there....I’ll find it...or die trying.....
FreeKick Noob you can have it.
I did the same thing at the end of ‘17. Happy to be out of that town
flipping awesome Sheryl !!.. that's 25 years ago and still so damn great to lislten to... such a groovy tune, good video and great message!
I'm in Las Vegas right now visiting. Been here for a week. I actually don't want to leave. But enjoyed it thoroughly
They play this song at the airport departure level. Just to rub it in.
I remember in 2000, I was 16, and we moved from Houston Texas to Las Vegas. I hated it everyday I was alive to experience it. When I was 22 I joined the navy and this song planed on the airplane radio…..
Definitely one of the best videos of all time!! Yet alone the song 😊👍 it gives me all kinds of emotions that I'm not asking for... And I like it! 😊
Right?! Such a great video! From music video’s golden age, early-mid 90s, the soft, thoughtful, intentional lighting, the saturated colors, the black and white - but with this one also the wonderfully strange and whimsical flying Elvises, those chorus girls with their amazing bodies, and the middle aged black jack dealers with their cat eye glasses, marching like absurdist paratroopers on the highway. Oh, my goodness, such a great video!
The dancers have such pretty bodies. They look chiseled 🌈
Just left Vegas yesterday. Listening to this and having a drink and missing Vegas.
Hi Nicole
It took me 10 years but from day one in Vegas this was my theme song!
Countdown for us leaving Vegas end of May great tune been a fun town for 30 plus years ... thanks for the tunes '
This brings back the best memories ... I miss the days when music had meaning
underrated
Fun riding into Vegas with this song blasting
After all these years, this remains the coolest video I have ever seen.
This will forever be my song lol classiccccc
Leaving Washington🎶🎶
Sheryl's music is described as heartland rock, blues, folk, country, rock, the best way i can describe her music is sort of Cottage core, she is a hot
Cottage core styled chick
She’s pure classic rock, as evidenced by the industry company she keeps. I mean that in the best way.
After living in Vegas for a couple of years this song hits different when I left.
If anyone listing to this song has experienced the strip and downtown Vegas, I am sure you can relate to the lyrics. The best time I had was when I went, and when I left. Drunk 24/7 Rich then Broke with two days of Gambling. Flew back to Austin Texas and didn't have enough funds to get my car from the long term parking at the Airport. I think everyone should experience Vegas at least once. I have Made 4 trips and actually made it home with extra cash twice. Progressive Royal Flush on Jacks or Better. Came home with+++ Cash & IRS Form. Yes, If you win big, You receive an IRS form to file with your tax return. But I don't recommend going if you don't have the money to loose. Odds are against you. But tons of fun If you have extra cash to spend on a Vacation.
This is definitely one of her best songs. Doesnt get enough credit as the other more popular ones, but this one just has a haunting, deep feel to it. Takes me right back to being 5 years old. And the video is simple and cliche, but it was done well.
You remember this at 5?
How in the fuck could you have a relationship with this song at FIVE years old?
@@mistermax3034 Yup. I have a good memory. When I would come home from daycare, I remember it always used to play on the music channel up here in Canada, MuchMusic.
@@michaelfolino8414 I was a different kind of kid, lol. An old soul.
Yep, Sheryl KILLED.
The groove. The groove.
Miss crow is no joke in her performance
To this day i still heart this woman and her awesome music
