Jagged little pill is one of the best albums of all time! It's crazy to think she wrote these songs in less than 30 minutes each at just 19 years old. To me, Alanis is in my Mount Rushmore of top musicians of all time!

@@gobbleswells2883 she went on Howard Stern recently & said that song was NOT about Dave Coulier like so many people believe it was. She would'nt give the name of who it was truly about, but she was able to eliminate a lot of the choices people though it might be about.

@@arielmedrano8098. Yeah, it's one of the extremely rare albums where each & every song is amazing, yet, she still had to fight in order to make this album. Her label wanted more "radio pop type music" being that she was apart of Canadian's version of Disney/Nickelodeon type of shows as a kid. She wanted to distance herself from that child like image & create music about real issues. At only 19, the fact that she was able to reinvent herself & create one of the best albums of all time is absolutely amazing!

    • @gobbleswells2883
      @gobbleswells2883 2 года назад +3

@@derekwilson6407 She was apart of the Nickelodeon scene as well?? I don't recall that. Maybe the Canadian version? Is that a real thing? 😂 jk But makes me question who "You ought know" was about then...That perv, Dan Schneider? Things that make you go hmmm But yeah, this album was awesome. Every song was a banger and also, it was a staple of both growing up in the 90's & my childhood...

I'm so grateful to have directed this music video for Alanis all those years back. The concept was her idea and Liz Gazzano (the producer) and Sterling Storm (the art director) and I all made it happen. It was difficult, but a joy. And Alanis was amazing to work with. An inspired young artists to say the least. Thank you Alanis for such a great song.

Tremayne Tyler Lorde was 17 when she dropped her fantastic debut album, as was Billie Eilish when hers dropped earlier this year.
My sneaking suspicion is that there’s far more young talent out there than we’d realize, if only the major labels had more faith for something that pushes boundaries, rather than their tendency to settle for middlingly, mediocre music that all sounds so damned cookie-cutter-esque (due to so much of it being produced by the same few people).
In the more classic vein, I think that most, if not all, of U2 were still teens when they released their fantastic debut album Boy; and, weren’t the Beatles barely 20 when they first started playing clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg?

I’ve never heard a song that perfectly captures how I feel as a black guy in America sometimes.
And this woman wrote this song before she was even 21 years old. The beautiful thing about radio in the 90’s was that a song like this could make it to the airwaves and make an impact with staying power.
I’m thankful because my black ass wouldn’t have heard it otherwise. I was around 7 years old when this came out; Heard it less than maybe 10 times.
Here I am 30 years later and this resonates with me more than I even thought it would.

Trust in Jesus, Hell is real and eternal! This is what the Bible says about it..
"The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Matthew 13: 41-42
Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven "I am the way, the truth, and the life no one comes to the father but by me." John 14:6 Ask God to reveal this to you- He will!
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 ADMIT THAT YOU'RE A SINNER. We've all broken God's laws and ten commandments.. "Thou shalt not lie, steal, covet, dishonor parents, take God's name in vain.."(Exodus 20) We do not have righteousness on our own to get to heaven, "God made him (Jesus) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." 2 Cor. 5:21 Godly sorrow leads to genuine repentance for sinning against the righteous God and there is a change of heart, we change our mind and God changes our hearts and regenerates us from the inside out. God is deadly serious about sin, when we genuinely repent we hate sin just as God hates it, and we turn away from it.
"But God commended His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOUR SINS, WAS BURIED, AND THAT GOD RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD. This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was. He saves us from sin and hell and brings us into a relationship with him. We become God's children. We are saved from hell, eternal death.
"For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13 CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD. Every single person who ever lived since Adam will bend their knee and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings.
Read the Bible, Walk with the Lord and give your life to Him!

I'm broke but I'm happy, I'm poor but I'm kind
I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah
I'm high but I'm grounded, I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed
I'm lost but I'm hopeful, baby
What it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be fine, fine, fine
'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a high five
I feel drunk but I'm sober, I'm young and I'm underpaid
I'm tired but I'm working, yeah
I care but I'm restless, I'm here but I'm really gone
I'm wrong and I'm sorry baby
What it all comes down to
Is that everything is going to be quite alright
'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is flicking a cigarette
What it all comes down to
Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet
'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a peace sign
I'm free but I'm focused, I'm green but I'm wise
I'm hard but I'm friendly, baby
I'm sad but I'm laughing, I'm brave but I'm chicken shit
I'm sick but I'm pretty baby
And what it all boils down to
Is that no one's really got it figured out just yet
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is playing the piano
And what it all comes down to, my friends, yeah
Is that everything is just fine fine fine
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is hailing a taxi cab

Life is one long slide into old age and irrelevance. Money can slow your descent but ultimately, once past your physical peak, nature has no use for you. In the wild the older you are the less likely you are to survive. Depressing perhaps, but on the other hand accept that as the natural order and it becomes sober reality.
