I think she’s simply saying that it’s not a main issue of Scripture/salvation, nor is it one that’s clearly outlined as to how we should respond. But I do know that showing grace and respect are as nonnegotiable as truth. It can be difficult to empathize with sin struggles different from your own, but we’re all equally alienated from God without Christ, and there isn’t any sin He’s surprised by. Sexuality and gender struggles are hard enough without being made to feel like you’re crazy - or beyond grace. Seeing that you’re a pastor, your comment concerns me about your heart posture towards trans people. I hope you can remember that they’re just as much sinners, and just as much image-bearers, as anyone else.
@@cruWITHaU I’m just saying it’s concerning when our version of empathizing is calling someone what they’re not. That’s all. You’re assuming I think those people are worse sinners, or aren’t made in God’s image. I never said anything that would hint at that. What I said is they are NOT the gender they’re claiming to be, so to *go along with* their sin by affirming it is an ungodly and unloving way of handling the situation. (& I’m not a pastor)
@@cruWITHaU And I'm saying, since when do we ever measure our faithfulness by asking if what we're saying is offensive or not. We shouldn't be more offensive than Scripture, but when it comes to sexuality, the Bible is horrifically offensive to LGBT++ sympathies.
No, people with medical delusions should not be argued with, it does not benefit them. Trans people are not experiencing medical delusions though, they are transitioning, often biochemically. The fact that you have a different conception of gender does not mean that another person is delusional.
Rachel Gilson is right that people who are struggling with their sexuality need to be received lovingly by other Christians. We are all sinners saved by grace, and for someone who is not struggling in this way to look down on someone who is is all wrong.
@@davidrg1570she isn’t condoning it more than she condoning telling white liars. Oh yea I remember how thou shall not lie was one of the commandments but not homosexuality. It’s funny how it’s plain as day but you know, there’s always that one sin that makes other people feel better about their ego
I have never in my life treated a homosexual with anything but kindness, because of CHRIST. However, I would be less than loving if I were not prepared to be truthful and tell them that their lifestyle, (born that way, or not), is considered as sin to GOD, according to the scriptures, and that CHRIST wants to save them out of it, otherwise, they are in danger, as ALL OF US ARE, who are born with a sin nature, and drawn to addictive sins such as homosexuality, adultery, pedophilia, womanizing, etc. This would be the same treatment that I would show to anyone caught up in any addictive sin!
@@caryt59 Your attitude is a very good one. The only point of disagreement I would have - and it's not a big one - is that I would use the term 'practising homosexual' for someone with homosexual orientation who acts out their desires instead of 'homosexual'. The reason for this is that there are many homosexual people, such as the woman in this video, who don't act out their desires.
Using a "preferred pronoun" is lying. I would very gently let that person know that my allegiance is to GOD first. I would tell them that I mean no animosity toward them, but I cannot take part in giving credence to their sin issue. I would also expect that they would understand that, just as they want to me to understand what they want, and we should try to get along under that understanding. It is not up to a Christian to lower our Biblical standard, even for someone struggling with their sexual sin.
Forget the pronouns, just call them by their names - or dear or honey for that matter. Wow, it is quite unfair and unkind not to be truthful/honest with a person like this (or how abour saying "human" to them). If they are offended, that is being too sensitive/touchy. Many times in my life I've beem called the wrong name (or my sister's name even), so is that offensive? No.
Christians caused allot of abuse and pain to me. Whether by Christians who bullied us or non-christians who bullied us as children. Being an LGBTQ individual made me so hated growing up. By other kids, by my parents, by Christians. I didn't choose to be this way. I liked other boys since as early as I could remember. I found love, acceptance, protection in a man and that was torn apart, ripped to pieces by my Christian parents, that caused us both to spiral into depression. It's constant suffering for me because of the abuse and hate of Christians. That's what Christians can't answer. Many conflicting opinions and Christians who contradict. Without knowing what it's like to be attracted to the same sex, just as naturally as you are attracted to women, to be shunned, to be abused, to be bullied, to be verbally, physically and emotionally harassed, you know nothing. Atleast you can get married and relieve your s_xual needs, what about those in the LGBTQ? Are we just here to suffer? Why did God do this to so many people then?
There are people who are attracted to adulterous sex, which the Bible clearly speaks against. Some of them claim to have been "born that way". I believe what you call "abuse" is what Christians call rejection of your sin, but they don't hate you, if they are true believer in JESUS! If you behave in a rebellious way when you encounter some Christians, sometimes you yourself bring on a negative reaction, because you don't want to hear an otherwise loving message that includes the fact that GOD calls homosexuality, sin! Neither do I believe that actual Christians have "bullied" you! If anyone has, then they were most likely not Christians at all, and you simply assumed they were, so now you blame all of Christianity for your plight, and use it as an excuse not to seek the transformation that only CHRIST can bring.
@@caryt59 maybe you have no idea what it's like. Atleast those people can get married. People like me have To deny ourselves of a partner someone to grow old with and take care of us just as we'd take care of them through sickness and hard times. Which I now do daily after choosing to follow Jesus. Perhaps those people who bullied and ridiculed me weren't true Christians, but I've learned to just focus on Jesus who loves me. And that's enough. Learning about loving Christians like John Wesley, Martin Luther changed everything for me.
What does the Bible mean when it says the only unpardonable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit? Oh yeah that’s right, the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is something that has nothing to do with sexual sin. Also, it’s a sin for a man and a woman to have sexual relations outside of the marriage bed. Last time I checked adultery was a ten commandment which means A MARRIED MAN OR WOMAN THAT CHEATS ON THEIR WIFE. At least gay people aren’t cheating on their spouse
@@Psawyer555 So this is your logic: "If a married man or woman cheats on his or her spouse, then it is okay for others to commit other sins?" I never said that it is okay for a married couple to cheat. Do you know how to make a logical argument?
@@artemusbowdler7508 I sure do know how to be logical. I thought you & I were just naming sins? And as for the Bible saying we are a new creation, nobody is denying that it says that. And as for marginalized people, I’m white so I’m not really marginalized
@@Psawyer555 Sin is sin--no excuses. When the Bible says an activity is sin, then it is sin, and Christians should avoid it. Love does not make sin acceptable. How do you know this to be true: "At least gay people aren’t cheating on their spouse." Have you interviewed every gay person?
@@artemusbowdler7508 obviously no I haven’t and that’s just irrelevant to what I was originally saying. ALL sin is the same. So I was just SAYING that an adulterer meaning a man cheating on his wife OR a woman cheating on her husband, have broken a 10th commandment but gay people have just sinned according to Roman’s 1, 1st Corinthians 6:9 and Leviticus 18(applies to males specifically in this passage) idk what more you want. Yes I know it’s ALL a sin. Do you ever lust after women?
P. S. Christ says NOTHING about same sex attraction. If it were that important to Him, you’d think He’d have singled it out. What He DID single out, many times, is making a big public show of our faith, of self righteousness, and of worrying about the speck in other’s eyes while ours bears a plank.
Yes he didn’t mention attraction which means saying you find someone cute in the face but it does mention prohibited sexual activity. But that’s all it mentions but it also prohibits heterosexual sexual activity outside of the marriage bed but I remember how that flies over a lot of Christian’s heads because that actually hurts their feelings a lot because they wanna be with a hot guy or girl before marriage since it’s normal and helps their ego.
This is an ignorant statement. Christ didn't specifically mention pederasty - does that mean it's ok? He didn't specifically talk about sex with goats - is that ok? Christ repeatedly affirmed the Old Testament, which is clear on the sin of sodomy. He also commissioned apostles (His students) with the Word, which is abundantly clear about the sin of sodomy.
@@davidrg1570 Yeah, he came to fulfill it. The Law is defunct, scripture says that several times, about specific issues and in general. Even if trying to import Levitical Law were a valid claim, you're not practicing it either so you're in no position to talk.

P. P. S. I can’t help but notice that you folks always pick scripture from the epistles to quote - never anything from the gospels, from Christ. It’s always St. Paul you quote. It’s almost as if you worship St. Paul instead of Our Lord.
Paul was commanded by Jesus Christ and God, "Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the *commandment of God our Savior, and of Christ Jesus, who is our hope,* --As I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines, --But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, --But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching,” 1 Timothy 1:1, 3, 5-6, 8-10 NASB1995 Jesus spoke and inspired what Paul said as a commandment. “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,” 1 Corinthians 6:9 NASB1995 Jesus personally said: “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; and they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” Mark 10:6-9 KJV And probably something to note is that God IS Jesus. So I'm pretty sure when The Lord Infallibly inspired all of His ordained scripture, Jesus Christ His Son would be fine with it... To be an active homosexuality is a sin, and you cannot be an active homosexual and be a Christian at the same time, as it is written in the Bible many times, for a commandment of all time, and not just for a culturally relevant time: Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Leviticus 18:22 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Jude 1:7 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Romans 1:26-27 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. Leviticus 20:13 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Matthew 19:4-5 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Genesis 1:27 “Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. 1 Corinthians 7:2 knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; 1 Timothy 1:9-10 And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel. 1 Kings 14:24

But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who calls himself a Christian who is sexually immoral, or greedy, or an idolater, or verbally abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person. For what do I have to do with judging those outside? Are you not to judge those inside? But God will judge those outside. Remove the evil person from among you." 1Co 5:1-13
Really helpful video. Thanks immensely
What if I felt like and identified as an orangutan? Is that a conscience issue? Is it ok for some to call me an orangutan and others not to, based on their own preference?
I really love this, I think about it often and I just love how she put it's all together.
Thank you Rachel
Rachel Gilson is right that people who are struggling with their sexuality need to be received lovingly by other Christians.
We are all sinners saved by grace, and for someone who is not struggling in this way to look down on someone who is is all wrong.
But not condoned in their sin either
@@davidrg1570 Of course.
Thank you Rachel!
Love this - really helpful Q&A video
What does the Bible mean when it says we are a new creation? Or is that passage not for marginalized and protected classes of people?
Rachel Gilson is one of the smartest people I heard how she explained this issue .
P. S. Christ says NOTHING about same sex attraction. If it were that important to Him, you’d think He’d have singled it out. What He DID single out, many times, is making a big public show of our faith, of self righteousness, and of worrying about the speck in other’s eyes while ours bears a plank.
Jesus "I did not come to abolish the law". This argument of yours is weak
@@Psawyer555
That's not true either I'm afraid.
Nowhere in scripture does it prohibit sex outside of marriage for Straight or Queer people.
Using preferred pronouns is hateful.

Only if you consider the wounds to your ego to be greater than the relationship.
This is the most absurd video I’ve ever seen. As a Christian….this is so unbiblical.
To me it’s absurd to expect a person to only be into heterosexuality and a married. People are allowed to be single. If someone cannot bring themselves to like the opposite sex, they can be single. Oh wait I forgot, you believe they should try to research ways to like the opposite sex as if there’s an easy fix for that. I forgot that hun

See, I don’t think we live in a fallen world. I think we’re a fallen RACE, a fallen SPECIES. The world is perfect. It’s us who are fallen.
It’s an egotistical and human-centric view to call the world fallen. Which makes sense. Because we’re fallen. 😊
Then why do other species die? Why is the world violent and unpredictable?
P. P. S. I can’t help but notice that you folks always pick scripture from the epistles to quote - never anything from the gospels, from Christ. It’s always St. Paul you quote. It’s almost as if you worship St. Paul instead of Our Lord.
Paul was commanded by Jesus Christ and God,
"Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the *commandment of God our Savior, and of Christ Jesus, who is our hope,*
--As I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines,
--But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion,
--But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching,”
1 Timothy 1:1, 3, 5-6, 8-10 NASB1995
Jesus spoke and inspired what Paul said as a commandment.
“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,”
1 Corinthians 6:9 NASB1995
Jesus personally said: “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; and they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”
Mark 10:6-9 KJV
And probably something to note is that God IS Jesus. So I'm pretty sure when The Lord Infallibly inspired all of His ordained scripture, Jesus Christ His Son would be fine with it...
To be an active homosexuality is a sin, and you cannot be an active homosexual and be a Christian at the same time, as it is written in the Bible many times, for a commandment of all time, and not just for a culturally relevant time:
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Leviticus 18:22
Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Jude 1:7
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Romans 1:26-27
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Leviticus 20:13
And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
Matthew 19:4-5
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Genesis 1:27
“Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
1 Corinthians 7:2
knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
1 Timothy 1:9-10
And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
1 Kings 14:24
