When I was a kid I used to watch cartoons while eating a bowl of cereal. Now that I'm 50yrs old I watch high speed pursuits every morning when drinking my coffee.

In the 2018, Street View had an entrance there for the parking lot. But the latest (2022) has that entrance blocked. Tough luck, driver.
These cops had a dozen opportunities to stop this guy. Pitiful the way they handled this. In fact, it's the Chico street that got him!

I wonder if the owner of the vehicle has a sayso in whether or not it becomes a high speed pursuit. Insurance is great but I'd want my vehicle back in one piece, preferably one undamaged piece.
Regarding the claim of public safety first, no, this is sheer incompetence. Allowing the car to leave the parking lot is just plain stupidity. LA needs to go to other cities and learn how to end these chases quickly and safely.
It's one sh*t show after another in Southern California but what can anyone expect?
Go to Arkansas and see how it is done professionally. There are no two hour chases out there.
Or send some Arkansas cops to LA and see how long they last, and how many pursuits they’re able to bring to an end safely and quickly. I mean, the vast differences between the two areas are more complex and relevant to the way each police department functions than many people may realize.
@jraylyne2331 You don't need to be Albert Einstein to work out that if you remain close enough the use of stop sticks has it's advantages, not to mention the proper blocking of the suspect vehicle especially where public safety is concerned. Again we witness LA police incompetence on an unacceptable level.
even in the end, while "blocking" the suspects car with 4-5 police cars, they let a gap big enough to comfortable escape. i really was surprised why he didn't use this "chance". ok, they opened the doors of their cars, but that's not stopping a suspect usually...

LA cops and their chases are ridiculous. Any other state they block them in and end the chase. In LA they chase for hours and put more people at risk.
That’s what I thought. Every chase I watch there’s so many missed opportunities. But I’m just a nurse and they know way better what to do. I’m just glad we have police when they are good ones.

At first, it wasn't for the sheriff's chopper watching, you would think the news crew was just reporting on some random car without any "lights'n'sirens" following him. The announcers keep saying that the suspect hit the cop suv when in fact, cars cannot, at least yet, slide left or right. The law officer clearly rammed, though likely unintentionally, the side of the Kia Soul. Evidence is the damage to the door.

It's a little of both. That thief's not worried about the damage he creates and neither are the cops, they're going to do what they have to do to stop them. Most of the time it's a total write-off if your car is stolen and there's a police pursuit.

Word to the anchor in the helicopter: When a car is stolen, the owner DOES NOT want it back. When your car is stolen from you, it's now BRANDED and its no longer "YOUR" car. Best thing that can happen is you get a check from the insurance and the car is destroyed by the scumbag that stole it.

See what happens when you get frustrated by a car thief who is not really doing much and you will get him as long as you keep your distance but now it's different when the police have smashed into the side of the car it's a catch 22 situation for the police
I agree with the officers in no persuit. They risk their lives catching these people and the courts just let them go anyway with dismissed charges. Why have any laws to begin with? They are ignored.
