You should make a tier list of which FF5 job challenges are from easiest to hardest when you eventually finish this series.
Get outta my head Charles!!!
@@BacklogBuster All White Mages is probably gonna be a nightmare.
It is especially since in order to BREAK the Fire Ice Bolt rods AS items you need to be in a JOB CLASS that CAN use them and while White mage can't use them KNIGHT can't either in order to kill the 6 BOMB bosses in this video ALL AT once else they will revive each Other with LIFE 2 until they run out of MP.
@@termitesc.aardwolf3644 dont white mages get access to holy? which is the strongest spell in the game?
i said this before, but, IF, the challenge allowed to equip other class abilities, white mage+ bare handed is REALLY good.
Yes but its a WORLD 3 only spell ie must beat BOTH of the Forking Tower bosses first.
I am straight up addicted to these FF5 runs and I absolutely love the narrative style! I've even had to go back and watch some of the videos on games I don't know anybody about just because these are so good! Thanks Wes!
I never knew that "Phoenix Up" Gobblegum from COD Zombies was a Final Fantasy reference until now for "Phoenix Down".
Oh shit, these are coming out FAST! I wasn't expecting one so soon after the other, really cool!
Here's an alternate Omniscient strat any class should be able to do: Equip reflect rings as usual, then attack yourself using the Mage Masher, a knife anyone (except Monk) can use. They have a % chance to cast Mute, which will then get reflected - this wears off quick but gives you a brief window in which you can strike at Omniscient with your partner without getting countered.
About that the MUTE effect via the Mage Masher counts as a PHYSICAL hit so hitting yourself with reflect rings would only cause it you KILL you since the Mage master still DOES Physical hit damage BEFORE using Mute and Mute I believe can NOT be reflected using that weapon since it only uses the spell when you ATTACK with it and NOT via the ITEM command.
@@veghesther3204 That's certainly a valid concern, but the Mage Masher is not a very strong weapon. A couple high potions can patch up the damage before it kills you.
But at the same time I believe when you ATTACK with weapons that cause spells via the fight command those spells aren't even Reflectable IN The first place.
@@veghesther3204 I haven't played enough of the pixel remaster to know. They can be reflected in the gba, I've done that before.
@@veghesther3204 Traditionally, actually, they can be reflected; this is a core strat of old single character class challenges. I do not know if it has changed for the Pixel Remaster.
I've never killed the bombs without the Bard's stop song.
About that normally for that BOSS against 6 of them just 1 USE of Gil toss with at least 100,000 UNSPENT gil kills ALL 6 of them at once else thrown water/lighting/fire skills Ninja class is the fastest way to kill them all at once the Black/Blue/Time Mages + Summoner can break the fire ice bolt rods to use the lv 3 spells against all 6 at once.
Knight has NO way to kill them and when they DO use Self Destruct your party MUST have more then 1500 HP to survive the explosion for when that boss DOES use it.
_Technically_ there's no real advantage to not running ever vs running a whole heck of a lot. It's 'better' to run a whole lot.
But screw that, I'm here for no running. Everyone has to try it once. And if not this challenge, then when?
That was a fun run. Both unga bunga for most of the game and a nail-biting seat-of-your-pants victory against NeoExdeath.
I had no idea the Defender could block magic, that was a fabulous tanky combo with the Aegis.
Thanks for the video!
he will probably run all fights for the chicken blade(i think that's what's called). for thief run.
Lots of good gear + doublehand should mean not much trouble, maybe at the end though. Let's see. I'm so down for 22 ff5 videos btw
Well, at least 4 Knights are less painful to do than Monks.
Also, exclusive in PR version, you can "recover" Brave Blade's attack power if you previously ran a few times in battle by doing more consecutive battles without running.
This series is great! Keep them coming!
loving the series , keep up the good work bud
How about going all AFK?
*Can you complete FF5 using Berserkers*
that's a pretty common challenge, alongside white mage only.
Love this video, dude
When you get to Mystic knight, you can use the mute spellblade to mute Omnisence!
Yes but the odds of that are SO low its NOT worth it and if it FAILS to mute that boss it will STILL use Return.
Mute spell has odds. Mute knife has odds, mute spell blade is 100% unless they rebalanced in the PR.
I wasn't sure since normally I never use BOTH the spell or the Spell blade version of Mute on anything but I never equip the Mute Knife normally against it even with 2x Black Mages or Summoners against it.
I think its frowned apon beating a panda with a 2 handed sword
Fanatic run, can't wait for red mage
4:27 I laughed when you complained about being arrested and about you thinking this was America. While saying out in a great lakes / Canadian fashion.
Its NORTH AMERICA BABY
Subbed! I pray you complete all jobs!
just watched the monk video for the first time, waiting to see if you had more videos and here it is! videos are great man
Thanks. This is going to be an ongoing project for the foreseeable future. I'll try and get them out at a reasonable rate but I will be doing other videos in between just to keep things interesting.
Looking forward to the four berserkers run
About that I believe that's nearly IMPOSSIBLE theirs at least 1 boss end game that practically takes NO damage FROM physical hits UNLESS its FROM Thrown Shuriken and that boss IS a required one and Magic Side of the Forking Tower though optional Berserkers can NOT be used against it.
@@BacklogBuster in your own pace brother, i love the idea especially when you get to the more niche jobs
even though monk is really bad later in the game, its still my favorite classs in 5. i specially like to give its bare handed to the party white mage and black mage/summoner. as it allow them to deal decent damage.
Kudos to you for trying this
I see what you did there with the Girugamesh comment.
Glad u found out how good knight and 2 handed is.
Knight is one of my favorite Jobs in FFV! I'm so glad you got to see it's true strength. Awesome video! Things felt a little more manageable than the Monk playthrough.
Maybe I'm misremebering but can't you use the various Rods as Items to cast spells?
Man, I'm really looking forward to the Berserker and Mystic Knight playthroughs!
Okay, honestly I'm looking forward to every single playthrough, lol. I'm curious which Jobs the game cannot actually be beaten with. Are you including Mime and Freelancer in this series?
i used to really dislike knights, as i was a monk fan. but since i replayed the game, i did see how amazing 2-hand is. what sucks is the rest of its "unlockable" abilities. they are pretty much trash.
Equip shields has its uses with some party set ups and boss strategies. @marcosdheleno equip swords is useless, but sometimes you need to put someone to sleep. The knight is a solid job with lots of damage potential and synergy.
The only real issue is that it's a simple job. You either attack a ton for massive damage, or you take a ton of hits or mitigate damage with shields/equipment.
Very good job.
Defender. The sword that parries death and tidal waves.
On Neo Exdeath you can save the magic lamp Odin until the woman is the last part left. The woman is generally the least dangerous part and if used this way it skips the meteor phase entirely.
Ive always Wondered if it was possible to apply all jobs to a single character, since you can permanently learn skills of classes.
Yes. Called the freelancer
Peak dropped
Fun series
FYI: You can re-equip weapons and shields in combat for free.
Useful if you find yourself surprised by an elemental absorb
This is redundant now as I think it can only be used by knights, but in the Pixel Remaster, the blood sword counts as magic damage and can deal with Omniscient without triggering the counter. Accuracy sucks, but it's proobably gotta be faster than draining MP. If you do a freelancer run, might come in handy. (Can confirm that worked on an earlier version anyway, I know they patched PR but i don't think they'd change it. Bone mail to deal with drain, reflect ring, Omniscient can do nothing to you)
It's been too many years since I've played FF5, but I swear I remember Gilgamesh vanish in to a dimensional portal with Nechrophobe...is my memory playing tricks on me?
He gets sucked into the void by Exdeath in his castle. He blows up Necrophobe.
@@BacklogBuster That makes sense, thanks for refreshing my memory!
in this episode of 4 warriors of light against the world
The crusade
Grind Grind Grind baby xD
Doesn't Self-Destruct deal damage based on the user's own HP? Couldn't you whittle the bombs down, THEN have them explode for pitiful damage and save Phoenix Downs?
You forgot to take out shinryu (monster/boss in a chest)
Super Bosses are outside the scope of the challenge.
that and 4x Monks likely won't be able to really do ANY damage to it at all and 4x Knights good luck surviving its attacks even AT LV 98 the only reason you can't USE a LV 99 party on Shinryu is because its lv 3 flare will always do 9999 damage and you can't REFLECT it since you still MUST use Coral Rings to survive Tidal Wave else that move ALONE can do OVER 8000 damage and not even my lv 56 party even comes CLOSE to having 8000+ max HP.
@@BacklogBuster ok
Quick question because I saw you having issues with Excalibur against enemies absorbing light elemental attacks, in previous versions of FFV you could switch weapons in battle by going into the Item menu and hitting Up to access the equipped weapons, here you could swap between weapons in your inventory, is this option not available in the Pixel Remaster?
It is
CheatEngine can speedhack the pixel remasters over 75x speed with 1 button and virtually no setup if you wanted to do the Fork Tower without changing jobs
When was this recorded? It’s still using the default font instead of the pixel font (unless you just like the default one)
Last year in Feb I think. I have like a terabytes worth of playthroughs to go through. I think I change to the (superior) pixel font at like Red Mage.
Possible that im incorrect but according to the wiki, Omniscient isnt immune to silence. So any class that can use the Mage Masher should be aɓle to beat him with only physical attacks?
Silence lasts for like 1 round vs. Omniscient. You'd need to get insanely lucky and have silence go off back to back until he died.
Hahaha in the anthology version omniscient would punch for max damage when silenced
Commentus Maximus
You think you'll just do one Freelancer run and then continue from save states for the all the advanced jobs?
There are no advance jobs in the Pixel Remaster.
GJ
Dragoons don't always lose
Did the PR undo the Chicken Knife's damage calculation? If they didn't Chicken Knife would have actually done more damage than Braveblade due to double dipping into stats for damage calcs, at the cost of running 25-90% of the time....
Don't know but the Knight and Freelancer are the only ones who can even use the Brave Blade. The chicken knife will get used for every other job.
@@BacklogBuster I see so you figured you might as well let the brave blade actually shine instead of letting it collect dust.
I'll never use the Brave Blade at all just RUNNING AWAY even ONCE before you get it makes it worthless.
@@veghesther3204 I think they actually fixed that part in the pixel remaster at least. Before if you ran away once it permanently lost attack, but now it lets you regain attack by doing more battles.
Yes but when you run away like 50+ times JUST to Get 1 Stinyray to show up to force it to use Mighty Guard its still not worth getting the Brave Blade at all the Chicken Knife STILL DOES more damage even in the Pixel version..
wait will you do the gba's jobs? or is that just a freelance run?
No, I have zero interest in the GBA version. Besides, the GBA jobs are all post-game anyways arent they?
Kind of 3 of them are only usable FOR the FINAL dungeon since they only unlock AFTER you own all 12 SEALED weapons the useless Necromancer for the 4th one IS post game since it requires to get the other 3 GBA only jobs AND kill Neo X death at least once.
But of the 3 jobs that aren't Necromancer Oracle by ITSELF IS PURE CRAP despite having the highest magic stat for 9999 damage Bahamuts.
Knights are really strong but so boring to play.
I wonder if you can do a Red Mages only challenge 😎
The job that peaks at Karnak? Yeah I can do it.
Its crazy how you pronounce it MON-k and not MUN-k
Why not use freelancer to beat the game first and set save states at each crystal so you don't have to repeat using freelancer over and over again?
if *every* start was exactly the same it would get super boring. I'm going to group them up for sure (like upcoming Samurai/Dancer/Dragoon, and later Ranger/Bard) but youu gotta mix things up to keep it interesting.
HMMM ITS ALMOST LIKE USING THE BEST WEAPONS AND THE BEST ARMOR WITH 2 HANDS IS OP
YEAH?
What's your point? The challenge isn't "initial equipment" or something. He's using the tools that the game gives him.
About that the class can't HEAL itself normally you could use the Blood/Drain sword to do that only FF5 does NOT have a HP drain weapon.
man, looking at how fun equipment is in FFV makes me really scratch my head why they went with the blandest equipment in FFXVI. i guess its that idiotic "ssiv equipment is trash and people love xiv" mentality. at least ffvii remake/rebirth went ham on making weapons interesting.
Gear and Jobs is what FF really needs to go back to for real. FF7's colored marbles can come too.
@@BacklogBuster lets just be honest, ff7 balls, are just espers done right.
for all my love for FFVI, i cant help but think the gameplay really lose its charm once you can turn everyone into spell casters with espers.
VII on the other hand really managed to take that idea, and turn it into something REALLY GOOD.
I know it's a ton of work, but it would be really cool to see you try to find the best duo job set up. (Only playing a job to get the skills and then sticking with those skills on another job)
I feel like there are a ton of great combos
