- I have highlighted most of the mods I have made to my 2014 Honda since 2015. I have commented and in some cases inserted pictures. I know I missed something, just ask and I'll reply! BTW 0-60mph at 6+ seconds, beats most cars and with a top speed of 100mph+ (not been there) it's all I need in a bike! Also, after 37 fuel stops, my average MPG is 69, that is about 4 cents a mile, WOW! At 3.27 US gallons of fuel I get over 200 miles per fuel stop, which is time for a pit stop!
First of all, great review; thanks for taking the time to produce and put it up here on RUclips!
I am buying a virtual twin to this bike in 2 days...minus the top-box/trunk.
It's a Red 2018 with the fairing system and Red factory saddlebags, which looks just like new and only has 6,125 miles on it.
Oh, and for most of those miles it was (literally) ridden by a "Little Old Man From Orlando".
😉😉😆😆
I'm 67 but this will be my first motorcycle! I can't wait until I get insurance, complete registration, and finish a training program so I can get my license and hit the road!
Hi Harry! I bought my CTX right after I turned 70. Now at the ripe old age of 76, I am only sorry I didn't buy it sooner! I know you will be thrilled! Jimmy
I too really like my CTX700 but I knew I was going to have to get some good sound out of the muffler for me to thoroughly enjoy it! I didn't want to lose the factory exhaust because I think it looks good and is mounted well, unlike most of the aftermarket pipes for these bikes. So I used some long drill bits/extensions and drilled out the baffle plate that you can see when you look up through the muffler. It sounded a little better but not enough so I then drilled an entirely new hole to the left of the factory hole and IT SOUNDS PERFECT NOW! There are one or two thine plates of metal that you have to drill through to get it opened up all the way through but it doesn't take too long. I couldn't stop smiling after I got it back on the bike and heard it running! It sounds great taking off from a stop and is still on the quiet side at cruising speed, No droning sound either! SO SO SO HAPPY WITH THE WAY IT TURNED OUT!! It's not quiet anymore but not too loud either!
Watching your video made me go out and buy one and I love my bike. I have a 2017 Honda CTX700 DCT.
My bike is now 6 years old and I have never been sorry for one second with my choice, welcme to the club!
I just put a deposit down on a 2014 CTX700N with only 119 miles on it. Can't wait to pick it up on Monday. I will be doing a review on it as well.
A guy who cares about his neighbours deserves a thumbs up.
Hi Mark T: When I was shopping for a cycle and zeroed in on the CTX, there were two repeated issues, sound level and that chrome exhaust appearance. As a result the first thing I did to my new CTX, was buy a Coffman exhaust. I ran the Coffman for a few months, but it was just a bit too loud for my liking. However, during that time I looked into powder coating the chrome unit for $125, but decided to go with a less permanent solution. I discovered a high temp black paint for $7 that matched the lower assembly and engine perfectly. I normally ride with a full helmet so much of the Coffman sound was lost anyway, but not my neighbor. In the end, the blackened OEM unit with the "stealth" sound turned out to be the perfect match for me! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Still have love it and waiting for spring!
Awesome motorcycle. Awesome gas saver . Super reliable and so light easy to handle and beautiful the Clutch one or the DCT automatic
Amen! There are more powerful and faster bikes and all most are way more expensive, but I am guessing none could make me happier than the CTX! Thanks for the comment!
my 2016 dct version arrives next week! i got the full fairing version, only 2k miles on it!
Thanks for your video! I purchased a used 08 Piaggio mp3 250IE and replaces all CVT transmission on it! When I have it all done I going on long trip just me & my bike because I am tired of this 19 and all this doctors!
Sounds like a good plan! The virus has everybody out of sync! Post some videos, I would like to see your bike and progress!
Beautiful bike
hello I have a CTX700N, I saw your video, very nice bike 👍🏼, you put a Puig Universal Touring windshield. I would like to know what the # of the windshield is so I can order one. Thank you
Such an awesome bike my goal is to own one in about 2 years I'm currently 19
It is still one of the least expensive bikes you can buy. Watch the used markets and be patient you'll find one with all the goodies! I have no desire to change my ride!

Why wait?
Only thing missing is the disco ball
Nice video, nice bike. I just bought a CTX 700, where did you get the protective coverings for the tank area, where your foot slides getting on/off the bike?
Thanks,
Bill
No wind coverage on hands. I use full gaunlet lrather gloves, but no grip heat!
Are these motorcycles a single cylinder and double piston?
@@michaelhall5555 Parallel Twin!
Hi i want yo now whats the top speed,
Very nice kitted bike. You really need to put some miles on it, don't baby it..
Hi Jimmy, I just noticed that you have a center kickstand on your CTX. I was just wondering what you did with that when you had the Coffman Exhaust on the bike. I realized that mine rubs a little on the inside of the exhaust. Did you encounter that issue with the Coffman? Thanks for any tips!
Sincerely, Kevin.
They worked together without an issue, although I did switch back to the OEM exhaust for less noise. I didn't like the shiny look and after exploring several options to make the exhaust black I chose to use high temp black paint which was a no the least expensive and a brainer for me. I really like the look as well!
...you seem to like the Puig wind screen. The price is good, so i think i'll order it for my N.
Do you like the seat as well? How tall are you may i ask? I'm 6'1" and the seat kills my tail bone. Thinking of ordering a Corbin. But that might sit me to high, then i may need to change the bars.
my seat has never been and issue. I have read a few times that the 2014 seat was one of the best, but I know a lot of the bikes have upgraded to the Corbin! There is a shorter version of the Corbin and sometimes on the CTX forums they are offered for sale at a slight discount. You just have to be quick, they go fast! BTW I am 5-11!
I bought a Corbin seat for my 2011 KLR 650 and had to use a tire iron to get the holes to line up. I expect better on an accessory that costs more than 500 dollars. Also, Corbins take a long time to break in; don't expect to have a comfortable journey right away.
...got a great buy on that wind screen, by the way, and it does the trick for me.
Jimmy what is the maintenance schedule on the Honda ? Does it take a lot of work, time ?
My next Honda eevnt doesn't occur until I reach 8,000 miles. Since I bought the bike in 2015, I had the oil changed by the dealer, bought a new battery and had my front forks rebuilt. Other than the gadgets I have added, it has been a real treat and an easy maintenance bike, IMO!
Hey Jimmy, how tall are you? wondering if it will fit a 6'1 guy. Many Thanks
I am 5' 10.5 " and I fit perfectly and I still use the original seat! Many have switched to other custom seats, but mine feels great and it knows my butt! You should be fine with stock bike and seat, but there are so many around, I would do a demo ride at the closest Honda dealer and check it out yourself, to be sure!
Hi Jimmy, What clutch lever do you have? One of my biggest issues with my CTX is that the clutch lever is not adjustable.
I bought both levers from Amazon, pretty cheap! They have three adjustable positions and were easy to install! I think I show them in my photo gallery on the CTX forums! www.amazon.com/PRO-KODASKIN-Folding-Extendable-Clutch-2012-2017/dp/B07B7MQXP2/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=CTX700+levers&qid=1560354457&s=gateway&sr=8-3
How do you know the average miles per gallon? Is that your own estimation or the bike reading?
I have documented 40 fillups over the 5,800 miles to get my average miles!
HI Jimmy do you still have the coffma?
Sorry, it was sold to another CTX owner after I used it for a couple months!
Did you sell it?
Nice scooter ☺️.
Just kidding I have a silver/black 2015 cxt700N.
She is about to get new brake pads and ceramic coating! She is still my favorite!
Does this have traction control?
Nope!
