When Tim said "No man is an Island", Lee said "What about the 'Isle of Man'?". "Isle of Man" an island between England and Northern Ireland. Not "The Island Man"
If I'm not mistaken, King Boomer has already reacted to the TT Races and should know about the IoM.
@Paul Hitchens I thought he said the Isle of Man
American Megan Dodds only did one series. She was replaced by a Brit, Sally Bretton, who continued to be in all the future series. Series 2 onwards were absolutely hilarious. You need to binge watch all the series....they get funnier every series. 🤣
Agreed. It got better and better
Sally was undoutably the better actress in this show but megan did an admirable job though
I agree Natasha... My all time favourite episodes are the Series 6 episode 9 Christmas Special "The House"... Closely followed by the Series 5 episode 3 "Camping"... 🤣 But every series ultimately has it's own comedy merits... But it most definitely gets better with the start of Series 2. 👌👍
@Paul Hitchens Each to their own mate... But the majority agree that the comedy was much better from the second series onward... When they changed the American actress Megan Dodds for the British actress Sally Bretton... The comedy lines and comebacks had a much smoother rhythm to them with the onscreen chemistry between Sally and Lee. 👌
I preferred Megan Dodds.
The irony of saying that over here we hold Shakespeare as the “be all and end all” of the English language is delicious, because Shakespeare coined that exact phrase in Macbeth - so he’s seeped into American vernacular as much as ours without most of either of us realising it 😂
Great reaction btw! Some people didn’t like this show but I always thought it was hilarious
@Paul Hitchens Indeed. Those subsequent 27 people have "liked" it erroneously...😀
We call them 'crackers'. 'Poppers' is slang for something quite different.
Yeah saying your sister's boyfriend introduced you to poppers, has a very different meaning in the UK haha.
We call them Christmas crackers.
*attempts to do impression of Penny from Miranda show* "Such Fun"
@@mlee6050 hehehe
@@YorkshiremanReacts26 just going to now, I binged reaction to whole goodnight sweetheart show and how last few episodes was, I basically was emotionally destroyed and wanted to be careful what I watch until felt better
NGO greatly improves in s2.
Hello.
It's set in London and Tim Vine actually sang in one of the episodes.
His brother is a well-known interviewer.
If you thought this was funny you should see the rest!
The funniest sitcom l've ever seen.
Jeremy Vine? Never knew that,damn!
The show as far as I'm aware hasn't ended but they don't always do a series every year.
The cast and characters have changed over the years, the only constant being Lee Mack, but that has maybe helped keep it fresh and constantly funny. Some of the later series with Bobby Ball as Lee's father are hilarious.
This is a hilarious show mate, your gonna love it, Cheers to you and the queen
Tim Vine”s Pen behind the ear stand up routine is a great watch and his ventriloquist sketch has me in tears every time.
Erm, poppers are something else (not Chrtistmas crackers) in the UK (poppers are a bottle of inhaled drug sometimes used during sex play- so be careful if you ask for poppers in the UK! ) Good to see your reactions, I've not seen this series for years- Tim and Lee both wrote it so it's a vehicle for their jokes and, of course, their experience as stand up comedians means they deliver the punchlines with great timing. Another sitcom around the same time that was pretty funny was "Men Behaving Badly"- which sort of revolves around a couple of guys who have the maturity of teenagers whilst in their 30s.
It's also quite possible, Alex, that his sister's Brit boyfriend told them about both Xmas Crackers and Party Poppers - and they just put the wrong name to what they are now using . . . ???
@@anoldfogeysfun indeed. Though, like using the word "dogging" to mean verbally attacking, probably best get the UK meanings explained before unintentional rudeness!
@@alexmousley7213 I am one! Well a dog walker ... It the same thing (Peter Kay car share)
yes she is american. megan dodds the actor was born in sacremento. The series actually improves a lot when she leaves after season one. she isnt as good as the character who replaces her.
Megan?
Deff get to s2 its the start of something beautiful
There's 12 seasons they start to get better in season two but they are so funny especially when daisy & bobby ball (Lee's dad) start to come into it
Watch episode 1 of Brass Eye - it's easy to find on RUclips. The show will improve your life.
Disagree
So glad ur reacting to this as I don’t think I’ve seen anyone react to it before. But this is one of my fave shows it’s a proper comfort show for me and lee Mack is hilarious.
Glad u discovered this it's a great series there are 12 seasons a 13th season is in production enjoy
I am really pleased you began watching this. I've watched it from the beginning. In my opinion it gets better as it goes along, i hope you stick with it.
Isle of man is Inbetween England and Ireland, its a small island. 👍
Glad you're giving this a go. Set in London. Dodds is from CA. Series/season one is well worth continuing, but as everyone says it ramps up another gear for season two onwards. 😀
The thought of you sitting around with your family doing poppers at Christmas make me smile. Sounds like a fun time 😉
Ha Ha Ha, just what I was thinking!!! 😃 😀 😄
Queen boomer will love this series
@§töner you sound like fun
@§töner don't watch it then
You & Queen Boomer should watch every episode of Not Going Out, all of the are brilliant, funny & mental!!
I love this show. Please react to more. The first three series are ok, but after that it’s awesome.
It's a brilliant series IMO. The sarcastic nature and double entendre comedy is awesome!
Hahahaha loved this show back in the day. You've picked a real gem to react to 😆😂
Lee was also the main writer for this. An amazing talent.
Finally!! I've been waiting for this!!
Love this show & have watched it since it's first series in 2006. Not every episode is brilliant but better then that, it's consistently good & has so many great moments. One of the only things i actually watch on normal tv channels these days. It's just a light-hearted, funny & enjoyable show.
Lee Mack is awesome and you've barely scratched the genius of this show, season 2 onwards it comes into its own... secondly anyone else only watching this whilst waiting for the King to upload the next instalment of the inbetweeners reaction?
Even if you don't watch every single episode of this, don't miss out on later ones where they just get better and better. The last 2/3 series are absolute writing gold, Lee Mack is a genius.
NGO from s8 onwards is awful.
@@davidz3879 that’s your opinion, I enjoy them
😆 love you saying you do poppers with your family! We call the Christmas items Crackers. Poppers are (legal?) highs you sniff and then laugh. Also used a lot in the gay community.
Have a look for Peep Show ( David Mitchell) and Friday Night Dinner (Will from Inbetweeners) when you get chance. Keep up the good work, Muppet! 😁
We call them “Christmas Crackers” over here. I remember one year pretending to read out the joke but replacing it with the most inappropriate joke I could think of. The look on my sisters face was priceless when she thought that was the actual official joke. 😂🤣😂
Shakespeare shaped the English language, from the standardisation of spelling, vocabulary and common use phrases. this is why he's such an important literary figure
The fact that I (a native Brit) can tell the difference between a typical American accent and a Canadian accent and an American can’t has given me a major ego boost😂
Only taking the piss KB😉 as always love the reactions.
Went to subscribe and realised I already was🤦🏼♂️
Lee Mack writes the sit com, it still going on the television. Tim Vines brother is a television presenter.
They are called Christmas crackers ya muppet 😂 love ya king 😂
oh wow, i've never seen anyone react to this this should be great. I saw an episode of this being filmed somewhere in Hertfordshire years ago, it was a fantastic experience.
It started in 2006 and is still going and is the second longest British sitcom after last of the summer wine 1973 till 2010
No, the second longest is OFAH.
Such under rated show! would love to watch the next episode with you man!
Mate this one is a true rabbit hole. It's the longest running active sitcom and still going and going.
Like you, I'm not a big 'sit-com' fan , many being a lot of 'sit' and not much 'com'.But stumbled across this during season 2 (having never seen season 1 I was a bit confused who the American lady was) and thought it was actually very good. And yes, as others have said, it actually gets better as the seasons progress. Also interesting is the fact that the BBC actually cancelled this after a few seasons but there was such an outcry from fans that the BBC reconsidered and it's still going strong today...and finally 'Keep your mimery at a distance!'.lmfao!..phrase of the day and I may have to borrow it :)
44:07 To be fair, he did have a little help with the last 5 names "Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich", was the name of a British 60s pop group! 😁
Stay with it bud, great muppet moment as well, timing was perfect.
Oh yes - great to see this on your channel. Love this series, especially the first 5 or so. You should check out another British comedy called “Coupling” if you enjoy this one. Also Bottom with Rik Mayall, brilliant- All the best
Yay! An American reacting to something different! Thank you! 🙏🏻
Such a fantastic show. The first series isn't the best but is still damn good compared to the comedy and sitcoms today, series 2 is where it gained pace with the viewers and became a big hit for the BBC. Sadly theres been no news on a series 13 but i'm hopeful. Glad I made the suggestion on the live stream 😂Also the series is based in London
I hope it never ends until Lee has Harry Hill hairstyle
The first season is ok it aired in 2006, but the series doesn't really find it's feet until Sally Breton comes in for series 2.
The series is set in London.
I really hope you continue with this series, it's well worth it.
Loving these reactions! Not sure if you have this on your list, but 'Bottom' is a great series to watch
Not Going Out is a great little comedy show with some brilliant one liners and crazy situations they get into. If you like S1 you will love the show from S2 onwards when Lee (the ultimate slacker) has to share with Tim's sister Lucy. Some very funny episodes.
Just keeps getting better 😂
Lee Mack and Tim Vine used to do a sketch show together was was also very funny
Your the first reactor I've seen react to this show so loving it. It gets better from series 2 onwards peaks about series 4. keep it up please
KB, I am SO glad you discovered NGO, because I think it's one of the best sitcoms ever, right up there with the Inbetweeners and Big Bang.. Series 1 wasn't the best but I liked it, probably because Kate was heavenly! But she left after Series 1. In later episodes you will meet a whole cast of crazy characters, including Tim's sister Lucy (Lee's new landlady), his girlfriend Daisy (craziest of the lot), Tim and Kate's parents and Lee's dad. By the way, this first episode is from 2007 and it's still going on, so you have a lot to catch up on!
What about "The Rag Trade?"....
Don't forget Miranda as the Cleaner
Tim Vine was in the Taskmaster clip you watched too, he was the one in the beige safari suit and pith helmet.
so many great gags in this series
Hello King Boomer the first. Considering that you don't normally enjoy sitcoms, I'm really glad that you enjoyed this sitcom by Lee Mack. All the actors gel really well. Very quick witted. The great thing is that they all seem to get a share of the punch lines. No favouritism. Hope you continue to watch this series. As with all series, the characters grow, and you get to know them more. Which makes it even more enjoyable. 🏴👍
it got even better as the series went on
Not going out first went on TV in 2006 .. & its still been on quite recent.. the American actress was only series 1 I think.. she was replaced by a different actress who was loads better suited .. in the later series he married Lucy & they had 3 children.. the later series were still so funny x
Not Going Out is brilliant and gets even better after season 1
its dogshit until season 2 that American girl sucks
Until it's ruined in s8.
This show gets better and better. Worth sticking with it
A lot of episodes and you are in for a long ride - all of it brilliant and it gets better and better
tim and lee were also in the sketch show together, years before this.
This is hilarious you wont stop watching it!
Lee mack and tim vine were two of the large comedy wrighting staff so expect big laughts over its 12 seasons of run times
Interesting you mention so much about Tim Vine’s narration voice. His brother is a very successful and high profile journalist, news anchor and tv/radio presenter in the UK.
At 8:21 where Tim says "no man is an island", Lee says "What about the Isle Of Man?"
It's an island in the Irish Sea
Tim Vine is so adaptable. I was impressed by him in Taskmaster which I'm sure you've had many recommendations for. Not Going Out just keeps getting better.
Dogging with Shakespeare.. what a great title for a comedy.
Awesome series all the way to end there is twelve series and all good I love watching your reaction to British comedy stand up etc i love your reaction
Season 2 is where it gets a lot better.
Dogging Shakespeare?!
Never heard of that scene before. Maybe I should visit the theatre. I'll take a mask with me 😎
Al Murray, the pub landlord had a short lived sitcom, I think called “Time gentlemen please, co written with Richard Herring (possibly?) which was surprising good
As the series go on it gets better and better
It's not that girl it's another one
Can't have a Xmas dinner with crackers! I'm 42 and still the same, we get crap toys and joke and it's the jokes I love lol 😆
My favourite series of all time, although series one is not the best. Series two onwards is when it’s absolutely hilarious with sally bretton, you could quite easily not waste your time on series one and jump to series two without missing anything. Keep these coming. Much love from 🇬🇧
Your favourite series of all time? Are you ok?
@@andrewmay1299 everyone has a opinion and reasons for liking stuff. Why u got to be a knob about it?
@@andrewmay1299 are you ok my friend as you seemed to have missed the important word in my comment which is ‘my’. This is MY favourite series. What’s yours? You can’t beat jokes every few seconds, comedy is the tonic for life.
@@kianhardwick thank you dude much appreciated, I wouldn’t dream of telling someone they are wrong on their own option on stuff.
@@wetpanther99 exactly mate everyone likes stuff for different reasons and that’s why opinions exists lmao I never understand why people are trying to just dismiss peoples choices for stuff and try to belittle them just over a opinion
Thank you!
It’s one of this Yank’s favorite shows!
:-)
Thank you, loved this ✅
Love the show, it's so funny. Lee is so quick with his one liners he's hilarious. Been a big fan of Tim for many years, seen him on stage a few times and i was even a contestant on his game show Whittle back in 1997. P,ease do some more, love watching your reactions, it's great to see people having a good laugh.
Dogging and Shakespeare now that’s a vision i can’t unsee thanks King Boomer
An excellent comedy. As for the setting, the first batch of series’ were set in the financial district of London, around Canary Wharf where Lee moved into a high rise apartment.
First reactor to react to this I believe. Thank you 👊
“Some people, at least here, they hold Shakespeare as the be all end all of… the English language.”
The irony of that sentence is hilarious 😂. I don’t know if that was intentional, but the phrase “be all end all” is one of the many idioms that originates from William Shakespeare, from Macbeth to be precise.
Very intentional lol
8:20 He said "What about the Isle of Man" 🤣
17:59 We call them "Crackers", Poppers are something entirely different and not really something you would do with your family at Christmas, I think the chemical name is "Amyl Nitrate"
Poppers are called Christmas crackers here in the UK.
Tim Vine was a co writer with Lee Mac for this show
In later series, Geoffrey Whitehead and Bobby Ball as Lucy and Lee's dads, add another dimension to a brilliant comedy.
I love the way this guy cuts in at the exact correct time to spoil 2 punchlines!
This gets better. Lee Mack is just a comedy genius. He wrote this, first aired in 2006 and still running, making it one of the longest running sitcoms in UK TV history. Like a lot of long running series, IMO, it's time was up a few seasons ago
Still only episode 1, where's the rest 😆 please react to more, it gets even better without a doubt.
Not "the island man" - the "Isle Of Man". Glad you enjoyed the joke anyway, it's a bit of a cliched old joke in the UK.
Leered Macks from Blackburn , Lancashire in the North East of England . Northerners do speak quicker than most people .
Would love to see your reactions to more not going out episodes! The programme is still running so there’s lots 🤣
Not Going Out first aired 16 years ago this week.
I luv how you watch, what is mostly, trash TV in the UK... like Game shows (that ive never watched), Not going Out and Inbetweeners etc. You're not missing anything my friend... and i watch mostly american stuff all my life, and yes i've been to the states and canada.
But i will gives this a thumbs up, cuz its not like the later episodes i randomly watched!
It's set in London.
It's 1000 miles an hour humour.
Lee is cast as the thick Northetner .
Love to see more episodes
this episode is from 2006 and the show is still going strong
More of this pls more more more thank you 😊
isle of man ''island man''. loved that
This is definitely a show that got better and better, I'm fairly new too your channel but have you reacted to 'only fools and horses' yet, you'll love it, and you will learn yourself a whole bunch of new favourite words
In the UK we have a lot of great comedies/sitcoms. Often it's the combination of the brilliant comedians and amazing writing.
I would also recommend Black Blooks, The I.T. Crowd, Friday Night Dinner, and Only Fools and Horses.
Funny you should mention Tim Vine having a good voice for voice overs. His brother is Jeremy Vine who is one of the UKs top radio and TV presenters. They both have great annunciation.
