Alert is also a good choice get an even bigger bonus to initiative so by the time you get to 17 level it is possible to go first and still be pretty high in the initiative possibly even 2nd depending on how everyone else rolls
Reliable Talent is great for Proficiency in Initiative. Its so very specific and awesome. Centaur Thieves climbing is pretty fun too. Conjuration Wizard is a great pick.
The rock gnome's Tinker feature doesn't make magical toys, they're mundane. You're probably getting their feature confused with the artificer's Magical Tinkering feature which does make magical objects.
I think war wizard would have been a good dip too. With the +2/+4 to AC/saves, advantage on initiative/initiative bonus you'll be much more likely to make the save/good initiative/prevent some hits. The save bonus is great when you have evasion and this rogue wizard is most likely not going to be casting that many spell anyway.
I definitely don't disagree with this choice. It really depends on which aspect of Thief you want to focus on. For me, because I don't get Thief's Reflexes until the very end, I would rather have something that benefits my level 3 stuff for the long run
@@DapperSnapperGaming While the initiative bonus helps the lvl 17 feature, having good initiative helps any rogue even if they haven't reached their lvl 17 class feature. Also like I said the +2/+4 to AC/saves benefits you throughout the lvls. But the conjuration aspect was something useful I hadn't thought off yet, although a rather minor benefit. Conjuration wizard gets 2 features and 1 of them is mildly useful, war wizard gets 2 features and both are decently useful.
Having built out both I can agree that it is difficult to choose. Bladesinger, Conjuration, and war all work so well with the swissarmy knife style of the thief@woutvanostaden1299

I could see bugbear as a fun pick, provided that you have your initiave secured and found a way for multille attacks.
