    Off the subject, I'd like to thank you for helping people who struggle with questions and your guidance to being the best pilot you can possibly be.
    Your whole "3 packs a day" has inspired me (and I'm sure many others) to do my best to get at least that much flight time in a day.
    The end result is, at least for myself, an experienced LOS pilot who was nurvous to loose hundreds of dollars learning to fly FPV in fear it would be gone forever... Lost to that troll hiding in the trees waiting to steel my quad when I loose control, to becoming a confident FPV pilot who only flew auto level, and progressed to Herizon mode, and now confident that it's time for full acro mode.
    You are appreciated.

This is especially true, if you buy the Zees 1S board w/Crossfire and Pro32 Nano pre-soldered to it. It simply attaching the motors(large pads) and the camera(use the Caddex Ant lite). It really is the easiest 1S build IMO. MaddProps Bob!

    Savagebee is an epic backyard ripper for first time toothpick flier. Babytooth rules. As Joshua said weight is important, Mr. Shutterbug has a super lightweight version for weight weenies. I use BT2.0 and 450mah and it’s lighter. Swapped FC on my Savagebee to Bob’s Zeez with BT2.0, glued in Ant lite cam like Babytooth and used CRSF nano and now it rules! Thank you Bob for refining what started with brushed motors way back when. This class rules because of his research and hard work!

Couple that with recent advancements in metamaterial flat lenses and we can reduce the weight and size of cameras whilst increasing image quality too.

  • @amen_ra6926

    My Kabab Babytooth is so smooth and buttery. it just floats around. I didn't find building it all that fiddley. Well, with the exception of de-pinning the R-XSR to conserve weight. I went with the TBS nano 32 VTx. I used tri-blade props because there were no bi-blades at the time. It's very quiet. The pads on the Zeez FC are easily accessible and with a small tip, soldering was not all that challenging. Although I would not recommend it for a first-time builder.

    • @travisSimon365
      @travisSimon365 3 года назад +1

      @@thetubemeister82 I disagree - value is very subjective, depending upon context. I have built quads, and continue to do so for my 'main flyer', but for everything else I prefer pre-built because I just don't have the time to screw around. That is absolutely not the case for everyone, but that is my point. This isn't really in my interest zone, but (possibly because of that), I absolutely would prefer a BNF. But, for my freestyle quad, yeah, I'll build my own. My point is . . . people value their time differently for different projects.

    • @thetubemeister82
      @thetubemeister82 3 года назад +1

      @@travisSimon365 yes, good points. In this case though, with the comparison focused on these two quads, I just wouldn’t be able to find enough value that puts the SavageBee in front. Building the Babytooth doesn’t look either difficult or particularly time consuming. If a couple of things were different on the SavageBee (better camera, better battery connector, etc.) then it would be a great option to save the hassle of building.

  • @ProjectMockingbird
    @ProjectMockingbird 3 года назад +4

    So, a couple of things that I can pass on about the SavageBee. ONE - Rapidfire 1 hates NBD VTX's. Switch to RF2 and you'll be much much much happier with reception. Image quality-wise, it's easy to swap out the better BFPV C01 Pro camera as they share the same port. TWO- They are now shipping with the BBrain Brushless v1 that's 1 and 2s capable and has a 100mw VTX. And you can put any RX you want on it. THREE- go to 48khz on the SavageBee and you'll be rewarded with almost as much punch and much better flight times. FOUR - Instead of XT30, going to the BT2.0 with the awesome TW 333's or "pretty okay" BFPV latest batch 450's will help a ton to make up that difference you are seeing in that XT30.
    But yes, the 1s micro scene is an old one, but has been reinvigorated by these new products. I'll be doing a special PMB version of the SavageBee hopefully soon, and if not, I do have "The 22" that I flew all summer that's smaller, lighter, and in testing people have said it flies better than a 1s 3", and I tend to agree. Little front yard rippers are pretty freaking fun and make it hard to go back to indoor whoop racing :P

They seem to always be out of stock, so I ended up finding a few other roughly similar parts. It's an amazingly fun little quad, and it's super quiet so I can actually fly it at the park!
    Also, they definitely are very durable. Part of it is that if they fall from a great height, the prop disc area effectively acts like a parachute. I had mine fall off a ledge at about 50 feet and it didn't even have a scratch on it.

    Ladies & Gents, this is the future of our hobby, after the new restrictions kick in. I have followed KababFPV's R&D on toothpicks for so long that I decided to build one myself. I am in such charm with this class/type of drone, with it's low cost, flying capabilities&overall performance, low inertia in crashes, neighbour friendlyness, that I am probably not going back to 5 inches anymore. After having a horrible fire on my last 6S high end rig which nearly set everything to smoke, I left the field with frustration & sorrow... After scratching my head in which direction to go with the power source 1S? 2S? or 3S? I have decided to go bonkers and grab the 3S Packs & low KV motors, because it is always safer to go with low KV and from then jump to lower voltage if needed. The High KV + high voltage + throttle cap way is a NO GO! DON'T DO IT! IT ONLY LOOKS TEMPTING, BUT YOU RISK BLOWING YOUR ESC'S, OR SMOKING YOUR MOTORS!!! This happend to me 3 times - 2 burned ESC's + almost one whole quad incl. 6S battery. Then suddenly a kindly Brushless Motors Engineer messaged me explaining the whole phenomenon/bad influence of a High KV + High Voltage + Throttle cap combo for nearly 3 hours and opened my eyes for good... This is a terrible decision! Trust me, don't do it - be smarter than me and other who smoked their quads due to it! Maybe someone will make a video about it in the near future, I myself don't feel the confidence in my knowledge to pass the lesson over to the community, an Engineer should step out and warn everybody, in the meantime please keep your hands off it... Coming back to the toothpicks - I just want to thank you KababFPV for your tremendous work you have put into popularising this class of drones and giving hope to everybody into the future of our hobby (I didn't write "invented" :p). Let's face it, people have proofed it can be possible to build an AUW sub 250g 5inch, you can make it AOKFLY, but the first obstacle you crash into on high speed will decide if it has any sense... My guess is - probably not... Maybe it won't be a dying breed like X-Class but the old 5inchers will probably be put to the side and get overshadowed by the new kids on the block - the 3" youngbloods :)

    The savagebee doesn't make much sense IMO. It needs the xt30 upgrade, but if you do that then the quad has entered the speed/power class where the built-in SPI receiver is not good enough. Then once you've done those upgrades, both the camera and VTX need to be upgraded too (a camera that blurry is only passable on a cheap 65mm whoop IMO). But at that point it's a completely different quad, so why buy the savagebee?

    The Babytooth flies amazing. Which makes it easy for other companies to base their versions off of. Its like you cant go wrong with that setup.

    My babytooth actually flys phenomenally well with a 650 4s, it smooths it out a bit, motors aren't even warm to the touch after flying, gobs of power, and absurdly long flight times.

    Be mindful of the issues in the early days of putting XT30's on these AIO's. A lot had flaky 5v regs and would blow from the higher current spike coming down the line unless you add a capacitor too. (Not saying the newbeedrone board is flaky but it's something to be mindful of)

    I built a baby tooth class quad with the sanchez air frame , an open source available for download at Thingiverse. Mine is 38g dry and my favorite quad. It is the perfect quad for backyards. Fast , light , quiet , need I go on ?

    Flew the savagebee but I preferred the way a 2S 2inch quad flys.( Emax TH race) It feels a bit more flingable if that a word, it flys more like my racing drones. I don't need that extra token a 3inch has as a 2inch can do 50mph anyways and is plenty for tight prox flying.

    Savagebee eating batteries like candy, very quiet, didnt even notice until JB said it. The babytooth was also pretty quite. They both seem pretty nice. Pretty rough on batteries though. I agree on upgrading to an xt30!

    Bob's naming scheme.
    First Toothpick, 2s 1103 65mm props.
    months had passed.
    second Toothpick 3, 3s 1204/1303 gf3018/16

    third Toothpick 1s 3" aka Babytooth. i think Babytooth sounds better than a lengthy 1s 3" toothpick name.

      I think 1s offers a fair bit more safety since the props are moving at lower rpms. I'll sacrifice that for power, ill bring out the whoop if I'm flying close to people

    I'm very pissed about NewBeeDrone. My first order from them was a brushed acrobee and it had some weird thing with the OSD. It was very blury and colorful. Than they said they will send me a new FC and all was fine with this thing.
    Then a few weeks later I ordered a BeeBrainBrushless V2(Whoop), the SavageBee kit and a Flysky BeeCeiver for a friend. (SavageBee) I builded it and went out to test it. On the first battery all was fine and I was very impressed about this thing, but on the second battery the VTX just shut off for a few seconds and I had a complete black screen and crashed hard into the concrete (I just flew over concrete because I normally don't crash) And from the crash the freaking 50$ motors were broken.... (BBLV2 Whoop) First I noticed that the C clips on all of the four motors were on the wrong place and the motor bells had a lot of space to move and a lot of wobble. Than on the first flight I noticed that the SPI receiver is broken because when I flew into the next room I had a failsafe. I only can fly this thing in the same room or I get failsafes. Outside it was even worse I only can fly 5-10m before it failsafes...
    Then I soldered the Flysky receiver into the quad of my friend and it did not powered up. I tried it on another FC but still the same.
    I recorded all the issues, uploaded a video and send it to NewBeeDrone. But they just answered me about the SavageBee a few days later after I asked if they please could answer me and just about the SavageBee issue and said that they will send me a new FC when they have the V2 FCs back in stock and ignored all the other issues. I waited a few days and e-mailed them again if they please could answer me about the other issues, but nothing. A few days later I asked again but still the same. Then I wrote to them if they not answer me I will write a PayPal ticket. Half an hour later they answered me on all the mails and said that they will send me all that stuff. I asked them if they could send me new SavageBee motors because the just broke because of the broken FC that I got from them. And again no answer for days and I asked again... Still no answer. I said again I will go for the PayPal ticket if they don't answer me. Half an hour later they said they will check if they can send me new motors.
    I am from Germany and I even have to pay 20$ shipping for every order and 50€ taxes in Germany for a 150$ order but that was okay for me because I love how the NewBeeDrone stuff fly.
    I can't believe that I have to threaten them with a PayPal ticket before I get answer from them...... And they say they try to have the best customer support. Even the Banggood support is much better than the NBD support
    I´m so pissed about them....
    Edit: And I'm sorry for the horrible english :/
