I’m thankful I have all that I need. A phenomenal wife, loving pets, drones, a fantastic violin, a cupboard full of Meds, and a refrigerator loaded with cold beer. Another informative vid, brother.
Subbed - mostly like your manner of directness and to-the-point analysis with reasoning. If I had the time to ever do a YT channel, I would want to present myself exactly the way you do.
Stunning footages! Oh wow. I've heard it quite a lot of times but now that you said it, it must be really true. The Air2S can actually be an alternative to the Pro 2! Cool
How do you feel about the absence of side sensors? P.S The smart controller is bad lol they should make a new one that can compete with high-end smartphones or compels us to switch.
Very strict, specific and well documented comparison of these two drones. You helped me understand the cons and pros of each of those "micro-aircraft". Thank you so much for that. This is valuable information coming from a professional who uses the drone(s) as part of his everyday client-assigned activity that needs to be impeccable in quality. Your comment that the man behind the camera and his knowledge of how to use his equipment counts the most, is so true and correct! Many thanks!
Not to mention that the Mavic 2 Pro has to have mandatory insurance. In Portugal it is mandatory that any drone above 900gr has to have personal accident insurance. And it is not cheap.
Good explanation Ken.Going to Florida in July and bringing my Evo. Is there any problems you had bringing your drones traveling by air. Did your drone and batteries stay with you as carry on? Thanks for the videos. Any quick tips you can give would be much appreciated. Stay safe!!
Thanks for the tip. I am still keeping my m2pro + smart controller this 2021. as you say, i too still get paid handsomely by my clients. To change to air 2S drone is not a must :)
Was an original mini user, waited forever for the pro3 (still don't know if it will ever come) so when this air2s was released (with 1" sensor) I had no hesitation and I love it, such a aweosme drone 👌🏼
Bro, I just subscribed to your channel, and I never subscribe to anyone. Thank you for making such a succinct and informative video. I shoot real estate up here in VA, and I’ve been wondering about this exact thing sonce the freaking Mavic 3 is 5 grand. 😭 Thanks man!
Some good points, the one that resonated with me the most, is that in the end (for all of us who dot get free gear) shoot with what you got and learn how to use it
After watching your videos I returned my recently purchased Evo 2 Pro and bought an Air 2S… I love it! Already ordered my Polar Pro filters to replace the shit that shipped with the drone.
Your straight forward approach is very much appreciated. One thing that you haven't mentioned is the props getting in the field of view - at least I haven't seen a video of yours where you have. Is that just because that is not an issue in 5.4? Or is that just skill in avoiding the conditions that would cause that?
I thought the best way to get a bright screen on my Samsung phone was to manually set it to bright. But it actually gets much brighter if you set it to auto adjust, and manually set it to the brightest. If that makes sense.
Regarding the adjustable aperture, I've heard from other drone experts that the Mavic 2 Pro footage started looking soft and was hard to focus at anything above f/4 anyway. Is that something you'd agree with? If so, it makes the adjustable aperture even less of a comparison factor!
Aloha Ken, Thanks for being you! My son enjoyed listening and doing kitchen dishes. He was surprised to hear somebody talk like his dad. He was more surprised that we know each other. Wait til he sees your vids with Sean...he will wanna hang with ya'll
Love the way you say how it is and you don't give a shit what people think of your opinion 100% again it's the person behind the camera and how you take the time to set up your shot properly I have a mavic air 2 for 6 months now and I'm happy with this drone happy flying and fuckom all mate col from Sydney Australia 👍
Well your comparison review turned out to be really helpful to me. I just ordered a Mavic 2 pro and was on the fence about which kind to get. Especially being the first quad rotor I will have owned. You almost made me change my mind, but we're using them for different reasons. I doubt I'll be going for the commercial license anyways, I just got it as a toy.
Can't get over how much better the Mavic 2 Pro footage looks, the extra stops of dynamic range and hassleblad colour science absolutely melt. DJI missed the target with the Air 2s imo. But to be fair it definitely isn't labelled a pro for a reason, and the price reflects that. Can't wait for the new pro!!
I have to say I'm very confused about the whole Occusync 3.0 thing. According t the specs on the DJi website, the Air 2s drone has Occusysnc 3.0 (with Occusync 2.0 compatibility) but the controller included with the Air 2s is only Occusync 2.0. So surely, when the Air 2s is communicated with the included controller it is using Occusync 2.0? The fact that the controller is Occusync 2.0 is the reason why you can use the same controller with the Air2s, Air 2 and Mini 2 via the latest DJI Fly update. I think the Occusync 3.0 capability really only comes into play if they eventually release a firmware update which makes the Air 2s compatible with the new goggles that came with he FPV. Either that or a possible new Smart Controller that might have Occusync 3.0 that could come out in the future.
In FL. what is the higher ND filter you find yourself using now, with out the adjustable aperture, for video? What do they give as options with the kit? Thanks for the helpful advice. Been contemplating myself to get this, when I still have my M2P and M4P(back up), when the 3 should be available by Sept.
How many cycles do you typically get out of a battery on the Mavic air two? My original Mavic air batteries only seemed to get up to about 45 cycles before they failed. I might not have taken the best care of my batteries either, also leaving them in my car from time to time in between appointments. I experienced some failures while in flight. Unfortunately the last failure might have damaged my gimbal as it came down very quickly from 50 feet or so.
Just upgrading my evo1 for the air2s. Trying to buy from droneworks to support your work. Noticed the sale on the evo2pro at almost the same price as the air2s and very tempted but I want portability fir the reasons you explained. Really like your channel probably watch most videos several times.
@Originaldobo I recently bought the Air 2s and also have the Mavic 2 Pro and was wondering this exact thing... should I sell the pro. thanks for shedding light on this for those of us out here on the fence. and @4:13 & @4:16 is exactly why I'll rock with you and your channel lol the raw realness is what we need to hear as filmmakers and videographers. Thanks!
I have had the DJI Air 2S long enough to compare to my old videos taken with my Mavic 2Pro that I, like you sold. I have to say that I like M 2P videos better. Maybe it's a Hasselblad thing? Of course, I am strictly a Rec flyer.
Ken I’m late to the party but I waited for the Mavic 3 to come out to decide my new drone and it’s the Air2S. Take the time to shoot properly and edit is my next goal. Keep it OG. bro.
For many upgrading from one cellphone to the next, or from one drone to the next in this case is not worth the minor improvements (a little better battery life, a little better camera, etc.). You fly as a professional so you would likely upgrade each time the latest and greatest comes out. I upgraded from to Mavic Pro to the 2. But I find just like from the iPhone 10 to the 12. You get a better camera, but the IOS and general capabilities are almost the same. So why keeping dropping over 1K each time? Just my opinion as an average owner, but I think DJI needs to start making bigger enhancements/leaps to make the upgrades worth it.
I did the same thing; sold my Mavic 2 Pro for an Air 2s, and a HUGE upgrade that Dobo didn't mention is ADS-B Airsense. It's so much more comforting to have your drone identify manned aircraft around you and to be able to maneuver around it. HUGE upgrade I wish he mentioned.
I did the same thing but I purchased the smart controller and the Air 2S. They have worked flawlessly for me as a combination. I am looking forward for someone to come out with some polarized filter sets.
I got a belly protector/wrap around strap for keeping my Air 2S comfy with the blades on in the bag w/o worrying about snapping a blade or anything. Came as a package with some blades and a blade case on amazon. I quite like it, takes some extra time to put in and take out of the bag, but i just feel like its more packaged for transport with it on.
Fully agree with all your reasons. I also got the A2S and it is a really magic quad, camera-wise. To the point that I'm thinking of postponing getting the Mavic 3 when it becomes available in the next coming months until its Platinum or 3Pro equivalents become available, and also until Apple's M2 chip gets introduced.
I certainly regret selling my Mavic Air 2 for the 2S. Could not fly the 2S, gave me an Unable to take off error message that not even DJI could fix. ended up returning it for a refund.
I'm on the fence between the Air 2s and the Pro 2. Currently flying the P4P and I have the same battery issues as you mentioned, and they are killing me. I'll probably buy the Air 2s and if/when the Mavic 3 comes out I will compare the two at that time. Thanks for the good video, glad I found it, it helps a lot.
Great video. I was thinking you’d miss the aperture but for your field it’s not necessary. Seems like the ideal drone for someone on the move a lot. I couldn’t help notice your 3D printer in the background. Were you printing a part for your fpv drone ? I’m so curious lol
I'm facing same issue for my mavic 2 pro , ordered new batteries and got swollen after few months. I don't know what's the problem, I maintain my battery and I use my drone very carefully, didn't expect this from dji and i can't even replace new batteries because there's no dji center in india
I fly everyday approaching 400 flight hours with my pro 2 with no battery issues... but the difference I see is I live is east tn. I've flown on some hot days also. I recharge my batteries with 110volt wall chatgers never In a car. There is my collaboration 😎
I sold my mavic pro 2 for Air 2 and couple of days later Air2S is launched nut i wont upgarde why? 34 min flight time,Sub zero operations capability ,No props in the Video, Better Stabilty, 240 fps slowMo, not a big fan of 5.4k and cheaper to buy and maintain will wait for the mavic air 3 or 3 pro
Awesome video buddy. I got the Air 2 and also the 2S. Thinking of getting smart controller but was hesitant about dropping $750 for something that’s a bit dated. Really appreciate your honest opinion. 👍
I need to upgrade from the original pro. In your opinion air2 or m2p can get either for around the same $$. Keeping in mind the things you listed about the m2p in this video. Thanks Ken.
Hey mate… top video. In the Land of Wonder Down Under fly the M2P… a lot! Made the habit of not running my batteries below 30% Seems to be the trick as even though we run ‘hot’ down here have yet to notice any swelling on my 7 batteries.
Haha 😂 Come on...your analogy was ok...to date whatever drone 😉 is super cool Hey bro, ever since I got the Air2 compared to my MavicPro1, clients have been so happy with the results. Thanks 🙏
Yes all this and one more reason... For me as beeing in europe the europe drones will have to go slowly on C class classification... Hope next dron (whatever will be , perhals MP3) will have C class.
Apologize for the mic, there is 4 3D printers going off in the background 🤣🤣🤣 production doesn’t sleep
Has there not been a smart controller update for air2s now ! I just think watched a video saying it’s great now and fixed
Love my Zip ties 😂 great overview from your point of view 💪🏾 💪🏾
Hey OriginaldoBo real quick question whats better Ma2s or Ma2 for range and pics and videos.
Honestly those made the background slightly more dynamic and visually interesting but the blur meant they did not draw a ton of attention.
I’m thankful I have all that I need. A phenomenal wife, loving pets, drones, a fantastic violin, a cupboard full of Meds, and a refrigerator loaded with cold beer. Another informative vid, brother.
Dude, I’ve always appreciated how real you keep it. Ton of respect for that dude.

Really love the candor and saltiness of your videos! Also, that background is almost distractingly AWESOME!!
Stunning footages! Oh wow. I've heard it quite a lot of times but now that you said it, it must be really true. The Air2S can actually be an alternative to the Pro 2! Cool
Lol them 3D pointers running in the background look cool as shit!!!
Again the tattoo placement ended up being so good. Glad we didn’t do it on the back of the arm.
Best background distraction in the whole video. Good job, S.O.
I’m new to the Drone scene and I like your Commentary on Drones keep doing what you do and saying what you say LOVE IT
Fun fact if you leave these batteries in a hot car your lucky all they did is swell.
How do you feel about the absence of side sensors?
P.S The smart controller is bad lol they should make a new one that can compete with high-end smartphones or compels us to switch.
How do you feel about the Mini 3 pro?
Would you consider this for your Realastate?
Awesome video. Love the rawness and honestly greatly appreciated. The analogy was bang on 😂
Appreciate it !

That last analogy ... LOL
Not to mention that the Mavic 2 Pro has to have mandatory insurance. In Portugal it is mandatory that any drone above 900gr has to have personal accident insurance. And it is not cheap.

Always Original Love the show great work
I sold my Mavic 2 zoom Great upgrade for me should have sold my smart Controller too smh 🤦♂️ It’s not worth a crap right now
Color-grading Colorado, was like *boom* to my eyes :D

finally someone who says it like it is ,i never got the smart controller cling ons .....spot on
Man your audio sounds great! What are you using?
Senheiser MKE600
Do you still have the Autel EVO 2 ? If you do, it would be nice to see more on it.
Thanks.

Nice info as always brother, thank you!!!
I love the video quality and the little bit of reverb in the audio is strange but appealing. On purpose? Idk but it's interesting
prints going on in the background noise reduction trying to remove them
The colorgrade on the Colorado mountain is outstanding :)

What, those printers going off in the background made for a great backdrop set. Thanks for your thoughts and perspective on the Air 2S.
I sorta dig it
Well your comparison review turned out to be really helpful to me.

Keeping it real and what an analogy at the end. Spot on summary.
What’s your opinion of not getting the Air2s, and waiting for the release of the Mavic 3?
