Myself I never dated within my tribe (You ask fir their clan and they are related) so I ended up dating a guy from a different tribe. 😂 People think Natives eat the same food, speak the same but no it's different. What's funny is, as much as 'latinos' love to talk about our similarities, there are a lot of differences between us as well. Dating outside ones culture is one thing, but cover the topic of dating OTHER Latin people from other parts of Latin America. Some groups aren't that accepting or open minded to other groups, even within the Latin community. Overall, even when you ARE Latin, there are still cultural differences to consider, because we don't all function the same.

I once dated a Korean American guy and we learned a lot about each other’s cultures. I currently live in South Korea and I’ve realized that there are a couple of foods that are similar to Dominican food but with a different name. Like for example, con con (crust of the rice) is eaten here as a snack whereas in DR it’s eaten with a meal. And there’s something here that’s kind of like moro (rice mixed with beans) but it has no flavor haha

Or constantly say to the guys why can't you find a nice Spanish girl? Or she's too dark can't you date a light skin black girl?

But we talk often about each others cultures and educate each other in that respect. At the end of the day both our cultures have more similarities than differences, and the beauty of it is that love transcends everything. It's also worth nothing that since we are both from minority races we have way more alike than not, so that also made it easier to understand each other.

I'm not Latina... I have no Hispanic heritage whatsoever and I'm pasty white. However I speak fluent Spanish and have integrated myself into the Hispanic community ever since I was 14. I speak the language, I wear the clothing, my favorite food to cook is Mexican food, and I participate in a few of the traditions. Only thing that's awkward when I'm with other Latinos at parties for example... I can't dance. But for real when I'm ready to start dating again in a few years... I hope that Latinos don't shy away from dating me. I will have NO problem speaking Spanish with your mom :)

Okay, listen, I need to share this because I'm pretty sure this is the cutest thing. So, I'm brazilian and I'm currently dating an amazing asian-american girl. Latinos and asians have a lot in common, especially food wise, but since we come from different countries the cultural shock can sometimes be hard. Recently tho, she said she wants to learn my language and she even went to a brazilian supermarket in California to try some of my food on her own. I have the sweetest girlfriend EVER.

It’s definitely an adjustment but idk-I feel like it’s kinda exciting to introduce your significant other to your culture, your language, and it’s even more exciting when they ask questions about it bc it means their interested in getting to know you more then they Alr may know you. I’m currently dating another Puerto Rican like myself, however before them I would usually attract only African American men. It was fun honestly when they would ask what a word meant or what I just said to them, explaining the foods we eat, about the island, etc.

I’m Cuban American... meaning my family is Cuban but I’m born in America... and I am married to an Indian from Trinidad. Needless to say, our household is interesting. We are raising a beautiful little boy together and we celebrate both noche buena and Diwali, drink both batido de mamey and mango lassi, sometimes eat arroz con frijoles and other times eat Chana masala with basmati rice and sometimes watch bollywood movies! I’ve also converted to vegetarianism as a result of his family’s culture and traditions! The unique blend of cultures our family has is beautiful, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world 😊💕
