    Aside from providing good sport, ratting like this is also a very environmentally sound practice, where I live folks reach for the poison when they get some rats and the poisoned rats are then eaten by owls, hawks and other predators. This has devastated stocks of many small predators. Also it benefits not only the farmers but also the distillers as i drink a good bit of bourbon watching this stuff.

    Hurray Plummer Terriers! I get so chuffed watching these plucky little dogs. It is all just their favorite game to play, I especially like Bella. She's so ferocious! Are the white ones Westies and are they pups? They seem to have the fire but not the experience yet. Good on 'em for effort. Thorn is a warrior! That poor Chook, 😆! You won't ever run out of rats to kill. I heard someone say "killing vermin & this includes foxes as well. Is like removing buckets of water from a stream. As soon as you remove those then others from outlying areas quickly move in to fill the void. Nature abhors a vacuum. She fills empty space quickly, silently & seamlessly."Those Plummers are Craken good hunters. If they're not faster & quicker than the Jack Russells & Paterdales! They're neck & neck with them! Based on just what I've seen from video footage though, they appear more aware, quicker & faster? None the less great hunting dogs!

  • @briansalk3233
    @briansalk3233 7 лет назад +4

    Great video, as always, so thanks. Not surprised that rats live under hay bales. However, again I'm forced to wonder if anyone in the Severn Valley realizes that making your home or farm part trash heap is also very conducive to uninvited guests. If you watch a few of these videos, there is ALWAYS a trash pile that needs to be dug out. It's like everyone has a 10,000 square foot Petri dish in their homes, and then they have to call in the bacteria and mold police to sort things out.

    • @ClearPests
      @ClearPests 7 лет назад +2

      Brian Salk that is the reality of farming... These farms, having visited them are very good, there are a lot worse out there. It's the feed that brings the rats in more than the mess tbh...

    • @Antipodean33
      @Antipodean33 7 лет назад

      Farms are a full time job, you just don't get the time to do everything, especially around certain times of the year when you are collecting grain or it's lambing season etc. Things get put off to after the crop or whatever it is you are farming is all finished with, then, as here, you have a big clean up

    • @mattcullen6109
      @mattcullen6109 7 лет назад

      Antipodean33 thank God. someone with a common sense comment. my grandparents were dairy farmers and barely had time to scratch themselves. easy to criticize if you are not in that position

    • @Antipodean33
      @Antipodean33 7 лет назад

      matt Cullen, unfortunately people who are clueless about farm life and work seem to think it's a 40 hour a week job and on the weekends you can mow your lawns, clean the gutters and put the bins out. And as you would know, dairy farmers work the hardest, early morning starts 7 days a week. I'm a bricklayer by trade but worked on a grain farm for a year and I've never known work so hard, there is always something to be done, it's relentless work and many more hours a week than the typical 40

    • @mattcullen6109
      @mattcullen6109 7 лет назад +2

      Antipodean33 exactly mate,,im a chippy (carpenter) I do about 45 a week. I'd hate to be a farmer. my grandparents used to get up around 4.30 am and finish around 9.30 pm 7 days a week with very little time to rest during the day. its hard thankless work with little reward and we as consumers still whinge about the price of milk. the supermarket screws our farmers constantly
