I reckon it would be a bit easier to keep the rats down. If he tided up the farm yard a bit. So much junk around and the cow shed was shit high haha! Trouble is, finding the time when your a farmer.
Ive got 2 Lakeland terriers a miniature schnauzer and a Rotwiler/Doberman cross. and I recently picked up a Mink. use them all for ratting at the local farms. Never realized how much fun all of them had until I saw these 2 videos. one farm I did a favor for had cows, pigs and a small group of chickens. the pigs feet and some of the cows feet were tall torn up by rats and mice and he had shot all of them before I got there. a lot of people don't realize that doing something like this is a Majorly important job around farms. I do it for free as a favor just because I believe something so small shouldn't make a living so difficult. If you're a farmer and you got a rat problem it can do serious damage to your livestock and crops.
Reminds me of my little jack russel:-) she was a little hunter! Everyone called her an assassin lol she passed few months ago right before her 16th birthday. Let dogs do what they love! She loved the rush and hunt. Running down the little holes to get the little rodents she could. She would have done it it everyday until she passed. Happy dogs, happy life and they will live a long time. Lettem have fun an use there animal instincts. Dont keep them stuck up in the house. Theyll love you soo much for it.
I can't believe the rubbish and shit that these farmers collect on their farms, it's no wonder we have a rat problem, but in saying that', the dogs would not have their fun, so it's great to see these dogs doing a real good clean up, keep the vids coming.
well done and huge thankyou for helping keeping the rat numbers down with the dogs. and the dogs got so much fun out of it too. Thanks for the video, very entertaining with these skilled dogs and men. :)
I've seen half a dozen of these videos. Does anyone in Severn Valley understand the concept of using a trashcan or dumpster? It's an endless landscape of trash piles.
Fantastic dogs. Do you believe that the abundance of rats has anything to do with the fact that you seem to live on an extremely untidy (shitty) farm. Farming does not necessarily mean that you have to drop packaging materials, plastic and other debris on the ground and leave it there. A tidy and neat farm is also much more efficient. Plus it is so much more rewarding to work on. Just a thought...
is there some cultural taboo in the UK against cleaning up the premises? always look more like the local garbage dump than a farm (and I have lived & worked on working farms, decades ago, in Canada).
Well done lads looks like you got a boat load great to see plumbers doing the job they were bred for.....tell he.man to get back to the gym if he wants to shift a big lump of bricks like that...lol good vid we'll done
Some fine dogs! Pleasure to watch them do what they love and were bred to do! Great job working hard mates. What other breeds you use for ratting? Do you find Pummels to be the best? Keep up the good work!
I love watching your dogs work! If I was younger I would start up a business like this! How much do you earn from a job? Are you paid by the rat or per day? Awesome dogs!!

I don't know why but I could watch this all day, those dogs must be thirsty taking in mouthfuls of dirt going after those rats!

I'd much rather this than the indiscriminate use of poisons. It's a dog's natural instinct and behaviour. And they love doing it.
And poison affects other wildlife.

Perhaps if the property owners cleaned up once in awhile they wouldn't need ratters. But the ratters are doing a great thing overall for humanity.
