    I spy a Lauten Clarion (or Atlantis?) in the background! I'm excited to see what you think of that one. That's been my go-to vocal mic for years. More related to this video, a friend just lent me a pair of these C80s the other day, so this video was perfect timing for me! I can't wait to try them out for myself!

      Yea that’s a clarion I’ve been stoked on this thing. I actually just got an Eden. Excited to try!
      The Sony is totally different. But still super cool. And stupid cheap. Lol.

    Great demo! I have a somewhat unusual question. I already own the "Slate Digital Virtual Microphone System," which includes the C800G, and I'm quite satisfied with it so far. However, I'm wondering if it's still worth purchasing the actual Sony C80 microphone. As we know, virtual microphone systems rely on frequency matching techniques, which may compromise aspects such as frequency response, polar pattern, off-axis response, and sensitivity. I haven't had the chance to compare it with the big brother, the Sony C800G. Could anyone offer some advice on this? Thanks!

    I like it. But and there is always a giant a$$ butt. If I have $500 to spend on a mic and wanted that c800g sound I get the Slate virtual mic. It has a really great c800g emulation along with a killer 251, u67 and killer c12 emulations at the push of a button. Not to mention you can get more cool emulation for it. But if you know you love the c800g sound and thats all you want.... yeah this does a good job.

    Between the Shure Sm7b and the Sony C80, which is better for recording urban voices?

    • @lizardpeter
      @lizardpeter 11 месяцев назад

      I have the SM7B. Only get it if you are okay with the high noise floor when speaking at a normal volume. It needs so much gain that the noise floor ends up being very audible. I am going to be trying the NT1 5th Gen.

    I´ve been using the C-80 for a couple of months and have been tracking A LOT of songs with it (only vocals tho)
    Pros: Really forward and present, easy to place in a mix, takes processing really good, great for that "modern" sound
    Cons: the low mids can be a little too much sometimes
    The C-80 is a great mic I enjoy spending time with it, works stupid good on female or higher pitched voices since it´s quite low heavy. Looking to buy into a more expensive tube mic next time, eyeing the Lauten Eden for my next buy, probably in a year or two!

      If your guitar is naturally bright this probably wouldn't be a good match. anything in the vein of the c800 is super bright

      Thanks for the response! I actually sought out this mic because I read it’s bright as my guitar is very dark. I ended up figuring out an eq in my interface software that works beautifully now.
