    Everyone talks about the snare, but what brought me here is that irregular kickbeat- I have such a difficult time even tapping my hand to it. It captivates me everytime I hear the song. Really well done man

      Hey man I see you covered 90's based bands like 311 and Fear Factory..
      I was listening to these two songs earlier and thought I'd share with ya.
      Trapt 'Stand up' or Recovery by Funeral For A Friend
      They are newer and might be less heavy (as well as the vocals) for your taste I assume but they pack energy.
      Whad you think for a drum cover?

      @ambidextrousassault  6 лет назад +3

      cryscarrb25 yeah totally, the 90's was my fave. So many bands, i.e. Pantera, Slayer, Sepultura, Soundgarden, Megadeth etc... love them all. But yah, I'll check those 2 songs out for sure.

    Sweet grooves🤘. Also love your kit setup, is there a particular reason for your setup or is it just preference?

    • @ambidextrousassault
      @ambidextrousassault  Год назад +3

      Thank you very much 😀 The kit is a Sonor Deluxe Series III and the set up is sort of a cross between Danny Carey from Tool and Tim Alexander from Primus; two of my fav drummers. I tried to have it symmetrical because of being somewhat ambidextrous in playing style.

    I must know what those two rides are so crisp

    • @ambidextrousassault
      @ambidextrousassault  5 месяцев назад +2

      They are 21" Will Calhoun Signature Series ride cymbals. 🤘

    • @Edibleedifice3
      @Edibleedifice3 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@ambidextrousassault beautiful thank you. They sound a bit different though is that a mic placement move or have you taped one to dampen? The primary ride sounds denser/heavier🤷🏽

    • @ambidextrousassault
      @ambidextrousassault  5 месяцев назад

      Totally, yah. They look identical and have the same weight, but they do sound a little bit different from each other, for sure. I was kinda disappointed about that when I bought them, but it turns out that you came create some pretty cool sounds with the different tones.

    • @Edibleedifice3
      @Edibleedifice3 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@ambidextrousassault exactly. Personally the slight difference was a nice touch I assumed that was intentional. Ok so the same cymbal, but I should think no two are exactly the same I get that. Well thank you sir I’ve been in search of a very specific sounding ride for years you may have helped me find it🤘🏽

    How did you get this snare tone? Please please explain

    • @ambidextrousassault
      @ambidextrousassault  Год назад +1

      On the physical snare drum side of things, using an Evans Ebony snare batter head tuned up pretty damn tight. Good snap to it. Moon gel and dampening control ring on the batter head and some duct tape folded into several ribbons on the tuned resonant skin to deaden the sound to be even more dry. Then audio gear wise, running a shure sm57 mic through a dbx266xl comp/gate allowing the attack to blow through yet shortening the release of decay. Finally about 20%-30% wet Classic Hall reverb with a t.c. electronics m350. Had to tweak the settings for a bit. The 14"x4" snare drum is a Sonor Deluxe Series III; the whole kit is actually.

      @ambidextrousassault  Год назад +1

      Also should mention there is an akg c451b condensor mic on the bottom of the snare as well.

    YESSS!!!! Set sounds incredible, cover was incredible. Was that an old TD-6 pad I saw on the right? Old school.

    • @ambidextrousassault
      @ambidextrousassault  Год назад

      Thank you very much!! 😃 Yes, you are correct! TD-6s; got four of them, two on the left and two on the right, the others are cloaked by the shadows lol. Also have two KD-7s with the Pearl PowerShifters and Axis eKit triggs on the long boards, all running on the Alesis DM5. Plus there's a Roland SPD-6 that's in the back, just out of the FOV, to run samples 😁
