Honestly, the fact that you can interface with a computer and just trigger the Superior Drummer (or whichever set you have) samples from it is pretty hard to beat. When you hooked it up to your computer it sounded great.
Considering all stock e-kits have crap sounding toms and snares anyway, you're right. Spend less money if possible and buy superior drummer. I'd still say go with the 100 over the 80, but that's really if you want to use a double kick (most people probably don't - it really only appeals to metal drummers).
@@deanmayberry9713 Well, the 100 is also better if getting the actual feel of using the actual kick pedal so I'd still recommend it even if you don't play metal.
@@rogercabo5545 Not sure with superior drummer specifically but many plugins do. You just have to set the open sound, close sound, and hihat pedal press sounds separately and the controller does the rest.
I don't play drums but I never realized that a double bass pedal used both feet. I always figured it was a pedal with two beater and some sort of gear ration to double the hits or something. Neat.
The double bass kick in metal drumming is one of my favorite elements of music. You should check out George Kolias, Pete Sandoval and Flo Mounier for some sick double kick work!

Try this. Use an expression pedal. Pass the output of the drum module to the input of the expression pedal. I do this with the Yamaha DTXpress IV going into the DigiTech RP90. Then, program in timpani. I tuned mine into two different tonalities (Low to High Bb-Eb-F-Bb and C-F-G-C). Then use the expression pedal to pitch bend and you can get pitch bends similar to what you would get on acoustic timpani. If you go in to the parameters of the settings for each pad/sensor, you can use sounds not normally available. Example: I can use each of pad/sensors to be different notes on a piano and play scales, chords, and some basic piano music.) Electronic percussion can seriously rock if the player knows how to set it up properly and has a really good amp. Thanks for the video. You seemed to have a lot of fun with it.
My dad was a drummer for a long time and when I was younger I grew up around a really nice real kit - been feeling the itch to try and get back into the drums and something like this might just be perfect for lil ol re-beginner me without ruining my roommates lives or my checking account lol
It wouldn’t be a proper review without a blast beat. Way to not disappoint. 😂 Also this is actually very helpful. I was a drummer for years but live in an apartment and can’t have an acoustic kit. I was looking at cheap setups to get going again.
thanks for the demo. I'm thinking about getting this set. I want to learn to play drums. I've been playing guitar most of my life. Edit: I just got mine last night. The instructions and packaging are great and I put it together without any problems. I did have a few issues with a few of the drum components not generating any sound when I first plugged it in, but I was able to solve it by reconnecting the component and the main serial connection to the module.
I think that I've found my little boy's first kit. Thank you for doing this fantastic video, isn't budget gear amazing now? I think back to the marginally attractive logs passed off as budget guitars from the 70's and 80's by dubious named far East companies and look at the likes of Donner, Glarry and Harley Benton nowadays and they're galaxies apart. I remember a friend buying his first P bass back in the late 80's. Can't remember the brand but, we were all green back then. I played it and shredded my fingers on the fret ends, so we taped our fingers 🙈 from there onwards. You could drive a London red bus under the action, too. Bloody horrific old thing it was but we were all so happy to have instruments. Nowadays, these budget kits and guitars are making learning so much better for people who want to learn to play. Fuck I'm old...
I pulled the trigger on ordering the DED 100 and a double-bass pedal so I can finally start learning drums. Been wanting to for ages but it took until now, as a 29-year old, to finally commit lol.
No idea why this was in my recomendations, because I have no musical knowledge or talent. But I love music a lot. This video was an entertaining surprise, thanks!
Two things. Firstly. This is the one that did it. This is the video that made me subscribe. Secondly. I love how you don't hit a single rim. You just sit down and start jamming.
I eventually want to upgrade my cheap-o Alesis Nitro kit to something better but it does great for the time being. Especially after doing some upgrades and additions to along with a couple mods. These low end kits definitely are a great way to get into drumming on a budget
A cheap way to go is to upgrade the drum module itself. Years ago I had a alesis dm6 kit, and found a cheap roland td 10 expanded module. From there I slowly scored a mesh pad every time I had extra cash. A Roland module that supports VH hihats is a good upgrade, as the alesis stuff has poor hihat expression, and it's one of the things that really kills the feel of an E kit. These days I just use a td20x module triggering Superior Drummer 3.
Same here, my alesis mesh has been great for getting into drumming (going on a year and a half or so now, no issues with it). But definitely has a real crappy module with hardly any decent sounds. I’ve tried using plugins through daw’s like ezdrummer, to get access to better sounds, but the latency is unbearable. Idk if my issue is not having an audio interface, but I assume it’s the crappy module and will have latency even with an interface, idk. I can still record from my alesis into a daw as long as I’m listening to the audio from the module and not my pc, and you can record 1 track on the module itself to hear back your practice. For the price it’s served it’s purpose no doubt, but a better module could do wonders.
@@Bryanpeacock33 I got the Millennium 850 kit two weeks ago, it's better than the Roland TD27 that sells for $2k.....the 850 kit cost me $670 shipped to my house.

Need to do a bit more research and have been putting it off haha I’m sure I’ll figure it out

Hey 66Samus love your videos. You bring me joy as a begginer on a drum kit. I also noticed that "The art of Partying" by Munipical Waste was recorded on 222 BPM. Love you and your videos. And as always SEX!
It's kinds of close to the set I have. I have the Donner DED-70 and it works like a charm! The only problems I have with it is that I have the snare on the tightest but the pole is loose connecting into the base stand, so the snare always moves when I play, but nothing fixes that other than just putting something down for a second stand! Donner drums are actually really good for how cheap they are. Mine was like, $125 and I've even used the kit in some of my songs!
they do! some things take some time to readjust to when moving back to my acoustic kit (dynamics, looking at you here) but practicing on a v-drum kit with 8" pads has done wonders for my accuracy.

I kinda love the idea of buying one of these Donger sets to augment my big Roland VAD kit with fun splashes and the like. Way, way cheaper than buying Roland cymbals and probably no significant difference in playability for what they'd be used for.
Man, I love your vids and reviews. Idk what the 666 is about. But, you seem like a genuine dude and a kick ass drum player. You and el estapario are my favs. Love the blast beats
man we've come a loooong way when it comes to this stuff being much more affordable. $419 for that second kit you played is so cheap, i bet kids are getting them for christmas now more than ever. lucky.
Every once in a while I think about buying a cheap small kit like this and trying to wing it learning online. I also have parrots so if I get bored of it I'm sure they'll love it 😀 Are kits like these portable enough to fold down and stick in a tight space like a closet? If they are portable how long do they normally take to get back into place after you get the hang of it? Edit: oh ya... Sex!
I had the same concern. You can fold it down pretty easily. You can also disconnect the main bar that connects the 2 stand posts and pack it down even further. One thing I am noticing is to take extra care when connecting and disconnecting the wires. It seems that the wiring unit could get damaged if you don't handle it with care. It's not cheap but you've got 9 components that need to generate sound going into one unit. I'm sure the connection wire harness can be replaced however. I'm trying to check if they make replacement parts but I don't see any on the website. I'll probably email them and see what they do.
When I was 8 I always wanted a drum set. I was *ecstatic* that Christmas morning when I got that exact drum set. I was so ready to blast beat on those. Took me practice but I finally did it.
I tried to get this, was out of stock, managed to get the Donner ded100 kit and a double pedal. You have inspired me to finally try and learn drums and it's a nice way for me to connect with my estranged older brother who already is intermediate on his own e drum kit. Better late than never, wish me luck.!!
Not too many people in the Yukon have e drums, I played the bass guitar 25 years ago when I was in BC, can't read music but going to give it a go. I may have to send you some farts as a thank you for the inspiration!
Fuxk man, I have slow feet, my right foot wants to mirror my right hand and I am uncoordinated as fuck haha. This is going to take a while. I have been only practicing 2 hours a day with doing things like alternating double rolls and quad rolls, 8th notes with each foot, building muscle memory and stuff like that slowly, speed may come but it will be a while at these first stages. People think a simple 120bpm rock beat is easy, it looks easy untill you go to tell your limbs to play it.
"Can't beat".......No pun intended, the electronic drum kits today; I bought the Roland V Pro electronic drum kit 24 years ago and it was state of the art for the time. It actually still stands up today on sound and quality although it's dated on interfacing with computers, and other technology in the past 25 years. Yes, these Donner electronic kits are perfect for beginners or a seasoned drummer to practice and record ideas with!
Love watching this stuff especially as I’m getting a Carlsbro cs d400 for my birthday and I can’t stand the wait, so watching this stuff makes it more exciting to get an electric drum set
I like to think you keep all your electronic kits in a closet that closely resembles a jungle with frames as trees and cords as vines, with the happiest bahee swinging around
I'm impressed ... That seems like a helluva lot of kit for the same cost as a decent snare drum -- Fact that theres a 'Ledge' playing it and making it look easy ... still .. DAYUM!
Man, the double kicker costs as much as the rest of the kit. Hahahaha, as a disabled vet a double kick is outa my price range... but its always an honor to see someone with your talent going to town. Great videos and please keep them coming.
You should combine all the electronic drum sets and make one massive electric drum kit!

Yep, My digital drum addiction began w/ one of these cheap kits. It's awesome to see more options.
I really wish stuff like this was around when I first started
The double strokes on the bass drum at 12:30 are beautiful.
I kinda love the idea of buying one of these Donger sets to augment my big Roland VAD kit with fun splashes and the like. Way, way cheaper than buying Roland cymbals and probably no significant difference in playability for what they'd be used for.
Buy 2 and have a double Donger
@@fatlittleparasite 😅😅😅😅
You'll have a BIG ROLAND DONGER!!! lol...sounds like a porn star name!!!! Lol
Man, I love your vids and reviews. Idk what the 666 is about. But, you seem like a genuine dude and a kick ass drum player. You and el estapario are my favs. Love the blast beats
man we've come a loooong way when it comes to this stuff being much more affordable. $419 for that second kit you played is so cheap, i bet kids are getting them for christmas now more than ever. lucky.
I'm a bassist but love music in general, great channel i like your stuff here, excellent 👌🏾 🥁
thank you dude!!
Would be great for someone that wants to try drumming out and see if they can advance, or just as a practice kit.
exactly!
12:20 "Thanx for Nothing". Love your channel, keep it coming!
Sex!
yes you can fold the rack :) only takes a few mins
I had the same concern. You can fold it down pretty easily. You can also disconnect the main bar that connects the 2 stand posts and pack it down even further. One thing I am noticing is to take extra care when connecting and disconnecting the wires. It seems that the wiring unit could get damaged if you don't handle it with care. It's not cheap but you've got 9 components that need to generate sound going into one unit. I'm sure the connection wire harness can be replaced however. I'm trying to check if they make replacement parts but I don't see any on the website. I'll probably email them and see what they do.
I got the DED-200 5 drum, 4 cymbal kit awhile back and I enjoy it alot when it's late & I can't jam on my regular kit. 👍🤘
wow la segunda bateria es mucho mejor hasta en estilo, sos un maestro!! me gustan tus videos! saludos De Argentina
thank you!!
I just picked up the 100. It's fun to see you in the Amazon video for it.
Other RUclipsr's montage music: calm, peaceful
This guy's montage music: ROCKKKKK
Your energy is so appealing. I love you
Awesome dude, another excellent review thanks for sharing.

thank you so much!!
Dude!!!! Yours is my FAVORITE SHOW ON RUclips!!!!!! seriously!
😮 wow man thank you!!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving bro! Thanks for this channel!
thank YOU!!
Better late than never, wish me luck.!!
haha hell yeah dude!! best of luck and have lots of fun!! :)
What kind of double pedal did you get?? I'm looking to get one
I was waiting for a blast beat with the jazz. lol Grats on the 1/2 mil followers!
I’ve never head bumped so hard while using the bathroom before. Good shit! Also nice drumming. I’m excited to be getting my first electric kit soon!
500k subs and counting. 'Bout damn time! Love ya Samus.
Love watching this stuff especially as I’m getting a Carlsbro cs d400 for my birthday and I can’t stand the wait, so watching this stuff makes it more exciting to get an electric drum set
Dude you ROCKED it. This was fun to watch.
I like to think you keep all your electronic kits in a closet that closely resembles a jungle with frames as trees and cords as vines, with the happiest bahee swinging around
When you used the flames to switch kits, that's when I hit subscribe.
playing toxicity on drum set 8 sounds perfect
i got the ded100 bc of this video , its amazing , thanks for the review
the cowbell realisation is the edit of the century
Awesome video. Just got mine for Christmas and ready to jam.
Dude! Awesome video and great suprise with the Laid to rest lick at the end man good stuff!
I'm impressed ... That seems like a helluva lot of kit for the same cost as a decent snare drum -- Fact that theres a 'Ledge' playing it and making it look easy ... still .. DAYUM!
Thorough, helpful, and I love the review style/humour. Weird Al meets George Harrison vibes! Can tell you're just having fun. Subscribed!
thank you so much!!
@@66Samus hello, what is cheapest double pedals?))
@Drunk Drummer I like the Pearl P922 amzn.to/3gCU0yH
@@66Samus thanks, more farts in video))
I like Donner, I have their B1 Bass Synth and I love it. These kits looks like good values.
I ordered the 2nd kit yesterday. Stoked, can't wait to start messing with it!
I am excited I just bought the Donnor ded80 I bought it for 199 I love this set for the price I think its perfect for beginners
Man, the double kicker costs as much as the rest of the kit. Hahahaha, as a disabled vet a double kick is outa my price range... but its always an honor to see someone with your talent going to town. Great videos and please keep them coming.
"Can you see it?" had me in tears i love the silly drum man
11:12 made me feel like I was going to a buy a car at the dealership in Gran Turismo, and then I stay for longer cause the music is good
Mr. Krabs walking sound effect at 5:40
3:48 that fart lasted longer than it should have. I love it
Great drummer - total respect
Cousin IT thrashing a electric drum kit for under 300 bucks… it’s good to be alive!!!
Hats off brother! You are amazing! Great video!
haha thank you dude!!
as someone with cheapskate parents who wants to start drumming, this looks like a pretty good starting point. thanks for the review!
