We were 17 then and always had our friends over drinking, getting high and driving around doing dumb shit kids do. For sure the most fun times I've had in this crazy life.
1996, Huntington Beach, never forget the morning in May, I woke up, sat straight up in bed, opened my eyes to look at the tv I had left on the night before and caught the tail end of a news ticker running across the bottom of the screen. All I saw was ...and Sublime, found dead in SF hotel room. I scrambled toward the tv and waited for the ticker to cycle back, all I saw was Bradley....and I smashed the power button on my tv and stood there blaming the television for telling me such heartbreaking news. I was 25 then and not unlike 90% of girls my age in southern California, was IN LOVE with Bradley Nowell. It felt like I lost the love of my life and to this day, like seeing these clips of him performing Boss DJ especially, I love him no less than I did in 1996. I listen to Sublime whenever I listen to music. Everyone knows my choice of music is mandatory Sublime no matter where we are. Bradley, you are so deeply missed. Your loss cut through the hearts of people like me who although we never met in person I still consider you one of my friends. Love and miss you so much, Bradley.
Was just revisiting 40 oz this morning, an album that takes me straight back to the best days of my life, college in the late 90s, I don't think I'm the only one that has a very special place for sublime and Bradley's voice and lyrics.

(Fun & Amazing Facts) He died when his son was 1 or 2 years old and he was sadly only 28 years old but his son Jakob recently joined the band with his uncles from the band and he is now 28 and spitting image of his dads singing and talent. It's so unbelievable that his boy has brought the band back for dad and mom is a huge fan at every concert. I feel so tickled because I grew up on this band and has been my favorite, but sadly have always wished to of had it lasted longer. Check it out he's been like a clone of his dad Bradley. He also has battled drugs and alcohol and nearly overdosed on pills trying to unlife himself. His band was called Jakob's Castle but like I said has now gotten the band back together at the age dad passed. Such a great true story!
His voice serenaded me all throughout my teenage years. God, I love Sublime. Bradley Nowell wasn't just a great singer, he was a great song writer, & straight up musician/artist in general. I wish I can go back and rediscover Sublime all over again. I've only done karaoke once in my life and the song I did was "Seed" by Sublime.

Everyone can track their favorite album to appointing the life and what was going on I was in high school just got my drivers license and 40 ounces of freedom became the soundtrack. It’s one of the few albums you can play from the front to the back and never have to skip the track and enjoy every song.❤
