The audience crapped on Hole, I remember people throwing bottles at Courtney. She replied No thanks I have some. Drew Barrymore was there too. Sponge guy went on a rant about what evil truly is, that its the Happy Meal burger that will explode in your chest 25 years later. Other than that Soul Asylum was great as the Ramones too. White Zombie spidey got ripped up as well.

Then, at 1:21 that little laugh when he brings the guitar back in...man, this dude is just up there, shirtless and careless, being his full, true and complete self, there is no self-consciousness or facade...no aires or pretending, no attempt to convince, impress or win over anyone. He is just doing what he loves to do. He makes it look so damn easy because for him, it WAS that easy. That's how talented he was. Even with no discipline, no self-regard, he fulfilled his destiny on his own terms. No matter what you think of their music, that has to be applauded. And just as he was about to unlocked the future of his dreams, a future in which he was a rich, famous, hugely popular rock star, he accidentally kills himself. He had done all the work, paid all the dues, shared all the gifts then he didn't even get to reap the rewards. Didn't get to grow old with Troy. Didn't get to watch his band become one of the most popular draws of the 1990's, didn't get to watch Jakob grow up, didn't get to see himself on MTV or hear himself on the radio, blasting out of passing cars and floating out of nearby restaurants. Never got to experience what it would have been like to be the prodigal son of Long Beach, a bona fide hometown hero. There are very few people who have lived life more authentically, more true to their own talents and desires and vices. It's a tragedy of Shakespearean proportions. He never got to reflect on or realize the true scope of his influence. And I don't mean to say that he didn't enjoy his ride. Dude probably partied more in his 28 years than most people do in two lifetimes. He never had some bullshit office job. Never had to ask himself if he was squandering his gifts. Never had to look back on the 'glory days' (because for him, they never ended). Never had to wonder what might have been. But in his honor, we must wonder such things. And so we do.
Thank you! everyone gushes about Bradley (and they should, dude was practically made of soul), but Eric (not Bud, he was the bassist) really set the vibe of every song. He knew the difference between a reggae beat and a punk beat and a hip hop beat and a ska beat and a blues beat and even a hippie beat, and he knew how to play them all perfectly. So fucking underrated. Also, Bud was a mad demon on bass. Goddamn. The whole band just oozed talent and soul.
I have dug every Gwen phase, but thisis the one I miss the most, by FAAAAAAAAAARRRR! Saw her this year in Cbus, Dont Talk had recently released, No Doubt and Goo Goo Dolls were supporting Bush. What a show.

Same dude I was 6 yrs old and I had never heard of this type of music. I actually heard of No Doubt first when I was like 11 my moms bf had a dvd with all No Doubt music videos and me and my lil bro watched it over and over. My fav ones were actually the early No Doubt with the ska influence. Then in middle school I heard of Sublime but it wasn’t til now as an adult that I know the whole story. I really am disappointed at the direction the music industry went because even when I was 15 I was going to see pretty good bands live. People with actual talent and passion and the crowd was always so much fun. All the concerts I’ve been to in recent years the crowd was so... dead relative to how it was back in the day. 😢 The last really impressive show I went to was Foxy Shazam! Probably 7 years ago. I miss fun cool experimental bands like that and Sublime. All the bands nowadays are so emo and depressing.

Sublime was my all time favorite band, even more while I was in high school from 96-00. In 2001 I got a job, and an older coworker told me he knew Bradley. I didn;t beleive him. Next day he shows up to work with a Polaroid picture with him, Eric, Bradley and Bud posing like friends having a good ole time. When he saw the reaction I had to that picture, knowing that Bradley held that photo, he decided to give it to me.
I remember learning about this song 16 years ago (still well after it was released) because I listened to their whole acoustic album that contained this song without Gwen. Then, I found this live version on RUclips, and it totally changed my perception of Gwen Stefani. I still come back to this in 2023 like I did in 2007
Sometimes I think back to these times, and I wonder how many more amazing songs Bradley and Sublime could have created if he didn't tragically die. Sublime and Nirvana both. They could have made some more amazing music for us....
