- Welcome to Naga City! We made it to the rarely visited Bicol region of the Philippines 🇵🇭
This video is pretty much our first Impressions of Naga City - a place that people told us not to visit with nothing to do.
We had some local Filipino breakfast before heading to Naga City center where we checked out the beautiful Naga cathedral and wandered the small town streets. We had some classic Filipino Street foods and met loads of proper nice locals.
We then got a tricycle back to our local area where we grabbed a halo halo for only 20 pesos!
In the evening we got a tricycle back to Naga City center to check out a night market, there wasn't much going on but we discovered The Philippines greatest used clothes market.
We rounded the day off with some super cheap street food.
On first Impressions Naga City is a really nice place, super chilled out, tasty food, loads of friendly people everywhere. Excited for the next few weeks exploring the Bicol region of The Philippines 🇵🇭

Go to Calaguas Island. Its really good powdery white sand beach. Your gonna like it alot for sure.

You guys are awesome. Love your attitude and outlook whilst travelling. Totally unpretentious, genuine and the best part is, you see food you want to try, you just go for it without any drama. As we say in the Philippines, "hindi maarte" (hindi mah-ar-teh) meaning not overdramatic. Cheers and have fun and you will find so many amazing places that will totally be your vibe. The countryside is just so beautiful and the people are equally nice and genuine. Happy trails. Oh and I think it would be great if you guys can attend the local festivals or Fiestas that happen. So much fun and each has its own charm, adventure and awesome sauce-ness.....yeah amde up that word lol And yes!!!!!! Call out people not throwing their trash in the bins. Totally right you are. Just pure laziness. Yes, there are street cleaners but it ain't all that hard to put your damn garbage in the bins.

Wow, how awesome that you went to Bicol. Have always wanted to go but haven't had the chance yet. Did you go there for the Mayon Volcano eruption? Mayon Volcano is actually Guinness World Records' Most Conical Volcano in the World. You can also go to Caramoan Islands where they shot one season of the Survivor series. Or go to Donsol, Sorsogon where you can swim with whalesharks.
For food, try Bicol Express and Laing. They're the most popular Bicol dishes. :)
Btw, i believe the best view of Mayon Volcano is from Quitinday Hills which kinda looks like the Chocolate Hills of Bohol. So imagine those beautiful green hills with the perfect cone of Mayon Volcano as backdrop!

WOW. I love it...I'm missing my hometown...In September will be the Peñafrancia Festival in Naga City. That's the traditional Bicolano fiesta centered in Naga being the cultural center of Bicol. Mark the dates, from Sept 8 (traditional Procession) to Sep 16 (Fluvial Procession) . It's a very big feast for Bicolanos. Thanks for visiting my hometown, I am now so excited to be back home in September. THanKs Much!

There are 2 big shrines dedicated to Our Lady of Peñfrancia, the old Shrine in Barangay Peñafrancia and the largest church in Bicol the Penafrancia Basilica in Barangay Magsaysay. During the fiesta, the original icon and images of the Lady of Peñafrancia is carried in procession from the Basilica to the old shrine and to the Cathedral, will stay ther in the Cathedral for 9 days - fiesta week.

Man, You've captured the vibe of everywhere but Manila exactly. I literally live in Cavite province and we've got a family ancestral home in the rural south of the country. The moment you leave Manila things are just way more chill and clear weather wise. Manila is similar to a developing-world version of London or New York (where I was born. I'm from a normal area not anywhere near where the toffs live 😂). People in Metro Manila are a bit colder, rushed, stressed generally meh..
Granted Cavite is near enough Manila whereby people are similar to those in Manila, but rural Cebu and the rest of the south (Visayas and Mindanao), especially rural areas, is just! 👍 💯
It's like the difference between the South and North back home, but reversed geographically.
The South here (anywhere south of Metro Manila, and the Calabarzon area) is socially warmer, kinder, more genuine, chilled mentality. The North, is the opposite haha.
If anything, life outside of Metro Manila and its surrounding areas is Classic Philippines. Proper island mentality. Hope you were able to make it to rural Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, Camiguin, Siargao and Mindanao.
You'd get much more of the same vibes.
Mindanao has way spicier food if you'd like curries, stuff like piaparan and Piyanggang are 🌶️ should be safe to travel to now.

Naga is beautiful, passed by it going to Cebu city. Definitely going to explore next time I'm back.
Definitely should the areas around here are well nice.
Naga in Cebu is not this Naga City.. this is in Bicol. Two different places. Naga Cebu is more of an old countryside vibes, while in Naga City in Bicol is more of a chill modern vibes.

I initially thought you'll find laing or pinangat but was surprised with the chicken pastil. That's originally from Maguindanao or from the Maranao region, and the people there also love making spicy foods. If you get the chance, you should try chicken piaparan in Mindanao.

While you’re still in Naga, you can visit Panicuason Hotspring Resort as well as the famous Malabsay Falls both located in Uptown Naga.

As a Native Ibalnon (Bicolano) you should probably know this, but the entire region spanning 6 provinces has probably one of the most diverse dialect pool in the country. Especially in Albay, where the dialect from one city or town varies to another, it even goes down to the Barangay level as " *_Slang_* " , don't get me started on accents. Most folks tend to get recognized where they're from based from their linguistics and tone of voice. Or sometimes by their surnames

Few foreign vloggers went to bicol. I remember two British couple who went to Legaspi and did a camping tour overnight at the foot of Mayon volcano. Hope you tour the whole of bicol. It's beautiful place. Bicol is a spicy province. Everything they cook there is spicy like bicol express.

@@EllisWR but it’s a bit of a drive, mount mayon is crazy.. past albi. There is a place you can tent out on the other mountain… it’s a local place, but safe. Try and find a group to go trekking, somewhere in pardedo is freaking cool..
Pls. Foreigner in Philippine pls dont be so cheap! When you ride public transportation pls think that what you pay is nothing compare to what you get in your own country! Pls tip the driver they are low income just you guys can travel easy. Otherwise what this guys thought of you is very stingy foreigners. They are nice and good in sevice and they deserve a tip from you! Pls don’t be so cheap and stingy!!!!
I'll pay the same as everyone else thanks, or just visit a different country where tourists are respected as equal.
