I miss all the local carinderia, hole in the wall type of places. Just pick whatever you want and go for it. Btw, "tanglad" is lemon grass. "Ginataan/ginataang" anything just means there's coconut cream. "Ubod mg niyog" is the heart of a coconut
    Manok is chicken.
    Baboy is pork
    Baka is beef
    Isda is fish
    Pusit or calamares is squid.
Man need to go back home. I'm way overdue. Each regional dishes is just so yummy and I need to travel around my home country more. Cheers guys and happy trails. Dammit-why am I watching this at 1:30am because I'm drooling you guys. 😅

Best bang for you buck and most of these places are an institution in the towns they're in. Also, the "laing" is made from taro leaves which needs to be cooked down so well because it's actually poisonous....when eaten raw but yeah, it gets cooked the bejeebus out of it. I miss fresh lumpia too. You will hear them being called lumpiang sariwa-fresh lumpia. Also, sago is tapioca pearls

Wow I just subscribe to your channel a while ago and suggested our province Bicol since you want to try something spicy. Didn't know you already went in Bicol. I am surprised to see that you ordered laing, usually foreigners don't like laing because of its look. Here in Bicol most of our foods are cooked with coconut milk and spices. If ever you want to go back in Bicol I suggest that you also try our pork sisig, Manok sa gata (it is a chicken recipe with coconut milk sometimes they put spices but sometimes they don't), spicy Ice cream (I think this is only available in malls because it is hard to find in local kainan. Bulalo is also a great food and it's very tasty. You can try dynamite, it is a turon (I don't know what's turon in English) with chilli inside. Try to find adobo with gata (coconut milk) it's tastier than the normal adobo. If ever both of you come to Naga City again try to visit the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral. I suggest that if ever you want to come again to Bicol do it in the 3rd Sunday of September since we celebrate peñafrancia festival. You can enjoy watching the parades from different schools, different bands, sometimes there's a free concert and free foods. Each house prepares foods that they can offer and accommodate their guess open arms especially those strong devotee of Nuestra Señora De Peña Francia.
Sorry I think I over share haha it just that the Bicol vlogs makes me really excited. As a bicolana it really melts my heart.
I am surprised to see their Bicol express with less chilli but I am glad that you both enjoyed it. I am also touched to see that you finished the laing.
I ain't skipping the ads for you guys may your travels will be safe and enjoyable. Both of you are giving me a natural vibe. I am really glad that both of you liked our foods in Bicol 🤧.

Im bicolano american white and i live in a very rural area there. If you want an even purer form of bicol food try tinutungan which is smoked coconut milk made by burning the coconut meat before squeezing it for milk. That right there is a flavor bomb. I usually eat adobo in smoked coconut milk with tons of chilies and potatoes since i have irish blood in me.

Glad you loved the food! You can't go wrong with coconut milk (gata) and chillies :)
The dessert you had is also a snack, or what we call "merienda", whch you can have by itself. The complete name is Ginataang Bilo-bilo or Ginataang Halo-halo. I make that too sometimes. The balls are made of glutinous rice flour mixed with water which creates a think paste. You take a little bit and roll it between your palms one by one. So it takes time to make. We also add Saba bananas and jackfruit. And no, it doesn't have condensed milk. Just sugar.
I honestly didn't know about that baby shark dish! Interesting. And those doggies are so cute. Lala is so needy, lol.
Not skipping ads for you guys. :)

Anyway, really glad when i see foreigners liking our food coz truth is, PH food always gets a bad rep from some foreign vloggers when they simply don't know where to get good (and affordable) PH food. Though these eateries can also be hard to find in some areas. Best to ask locals if you can't find one coz they're not always listed on the internet. :)

I'll be back in the Philippines in 8 weeks, can't wait. This food looked amazing and so fkn cheap, the girl was a sweetheart looking after you and it's great that they do the small tasting portions. We actually eat a fair bit of shark in Australia, it is used as an option for battered fish and chips. It is called "flake" and it's great for kids to eat more seafood as there are no bones and it tastes bloody nice, or "well good".

That Fresh Lumpia Ubod is good eaten with freshly chopped garlic topping. And that "oily" Laing is because of the coconut milk cooked until it releases it's oil. The last food, the dessert, is called GINATAAN (cooked in coconut milk) HALO-HALO (which mean assorted, not the Mix Mix Halo-Halo) with Banana (SABA variety), Taro, Sweet Potato or Camote, small Mochi Balls, (with or without) Jackfruit.
