A 1976 BBC production featuring my Grandfather John Owen (Jac y Bugail) and Erwyd Howells. It was uploaded from a very well watched video tape so please don't expect HD quality. Enjoy :)
thanks for the lovely comments. I'm glad that you've enjoyed the film and I feel very lucky to have this record of my Grandfather which I can pass down to future generations ☺
That was a brilliant program. It had me glued. I enjoyed the characters, the farming and the language. I spoke to a shepherd last time I was up there. He was training a dog. Thanks for sharing.
Great viewing, my late brother was one of the catchers in the shearing shed, I usually went up there in shearing time but didn't go that yr, I went to Australia for 25 yrs & came back to Aberystwyth in 2005 when my brother died, been trying for yrs to get this footage, & it was only by researching Erwyd Howells that I stumbled upon it. Great memories 👌
@@mariem1701 I have saved it on my RUclips account, thank you so much for the film. My brother & I used to work weekends & holidays for Christopher Evans peeling stakes etc, we were about 13 & 14 when we first started, good money for us in those days, then at Xmas we would go turkey plucking for Mr Raw Rees at Llandre, happy days, not a care in the world 👍👍
Thanks for showing. A very interesting film. Hilarious watching the man cut the tag out of the ear, imagine what that would do to the record book today.
You allways see sheep but rarely a Shepard there a lot more to raising sheep than just putting them in a field to graze I never realized it's such a harsh job respect to the Shepard and farmers it's not easy as you think
Ffilm gwych iawn. Roeddem ni yn ffermio ym Mhontarfynach ar ben Cwm Rheidol - ac mi roedd fy nhadcu yn siwr yn adnabod Jac y Bugail ac yn sicr Erwyd Howells. Diolch yn fawr.
Amazing life and hard

Come to any extensive sheep farm in the world, and you'll see the timeless repetition of this cycle of hard work, attention and devotion.
