Ingredients
Spicy Tofu "Crab" Salad
▢ 3/5 (16 oz) package super-firm high-protein tofu
▢ 1/3 cup vegan mayonnaise
▢ 1-3 tablespoons sriracha to preferred spiciness
▢ 1-2 tablespoons soy sauce to preferred saltiness
▢ 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
▢ 2 scallions finely sliced
▢ 2 tablespoons finely shredded carrot
To Assemble Sushi
▢ sushi rice see notes
▢ fresh avocado sliced
▢ fresh cucumber cut into strips
▢ sushi nori
▢ toasted sesame seeds
Options for Serving
▢ soy sauce
▢ wasabi
▢ pickled sushi ginger
Since you made the original video with this recipe I’ve made it twice for friends/family with tempura on the side and it has been a hit! One person who hates tofu was desperate for the recipe after eating the crab salad

I tried the tofu salad in sushi and it was very nice, but the next morning I put leftover salad on a sandwich and that really hit the spot!

This salad and the kewpie mayo recipe are now weekly staples in my kitchen - I've been playing with ingredients a lot and now rarely eat it in sushi form, this is SO GOOD as a sandwich on potato bread or as the protein in a butter lettuce salad. Great with diced sweet peppers and a little maggi seasoning added, smoked paprika treats it well too.

I love putting sliced up inari-age as the protein in sushi and kimbap! One of my favorite fillings, but I have to try this one.

I’ve made this crab salad before too, but with bean curd / baked tofu (trader joes sells sriracha or teriyaki flavoured baked tofu.) I also add vegan fish sauce for that fishy taste!

@@GarudaLegends I feel sorry for you if you assume mental ineptitude whenever you encounter anything you’re unfamiliar with. It only shows your own level of intelligence which is frankly disappointing.
It’s a vegan sauce (kelp, mushrooms, other seasoning) made to mimic the smell and taste of fish sauce, because guess what? Vegans still enjoy the same food as omnivores.
And need I remind you again… you’re commenting on a video about VEGAN sushi. 🤦🏻♀️

I think it would be amazing with shredded or sliced smoked/ baked tofu.
Pre-made Sushi grocery stores have prepared are too dang expensive nowadays, you end up paying about $1.00 per bite/each piece.

The last 3 videos I saw you used tofu and as a vegetarian I’m waiting for you to use something else. Tofu isn’t the only joy meat replacement. Although it’s good. Don’t you get tofu tired?

The maintenance calories for my weight are 1645 if i don't exercise, so if i wanted to lose 1 lb/week I might have to eat less than 1200. For short, sedentary women, 1200 may be enough
Why not just eat a genuine sushi roll? I don't like people who eat vegan for the label. It's not about bragging rights.

Btw sushi, the word, translates to "seasoned rice". Not a single word about what goes inside and what not.
@@adventureexe6032 Yes, you can tell many people are vegan so they can use it as a label to identify themselves. There's no reason to be so strict about diet. To never try any food from other cultures? Like, if a friend invites you to a cookout or party, and you forgot to eat, you'll go hungry? You're doing it for the "I've been vegan for x years" label.
@@mightymoeish some people genuinely cannot consume meat products or it causes their body serious problems. Tabitha Brown is an example. She did not want to be vegan but she did so for her health when she realized that her body could not properly handle meat. But regardless, it’s not your business why people go vegan. It’s not harming you in any way. Idk why you even care
Shredding the tofu is such a game changer. You can also use a Baked Tofu like Teriyaki Baked tofu
