I think in single elim I would have err’ed towards high rolling, even if the mono red lane was free. The red cards were strong enough to splash for them and monored is usually not a deck that X:0’s
Watching all of the team and pod drafts really highlights the inequity/issues with league drafts -- especially jarring in matches like your first match vs the academy deck, where you are sitting with failed academy pieces in your board (that was clearly not open) Pod play is just so much better than leagues in every way... ... Except for being able to jam matches quickly. (Lets not even go into the ridiculousness of best of 1 being the primary mode of play on Arena) No takeaway here that I can think of -- but just highlights why pod play is soooooo much better
I love the fact that you added a regular draft at the end of the single elim loss. Sometimes i see the timer for the video is 40-60 minutes and know going in that its going to be an early loss which takes some of the fun out of it.
Vintage cube is very complex. I wish I could have a shot to the "V. Cube Worlds". LSV haven't got into the 64 cube YET, after many tries, and he is one of the most dedicated players to V. Cube. Dude... these are really high stakes. And it got even harder right? It was 3-0 and now it's 4-0.
@lsv I'm late to commenting here, but I just wanna thank you for SPOILER ALERT including a trophy in a double header. Usually, double headers are two train wrecks, glad I stood this one through, last deck was such a marvelous brew
I’m so confused as to why you didn’t take beach? I thought that bc it works well with Lurrus and Time walk too well. Didn’t pass any of the cards that work with it pack 1 Edit: wheeling breach plus balance is so hot better player alert LSV is too good
MANN, i LOVEE bazar in my Lurrus decks!? why no consideration pack 3, pick 7, Draft 2 ?! (took Thalia instead of Daze, and bazar was just sitting there) Does he ever play bazar in his Lurrus decks anyone? Has he ever said his views of it in Lurrus!? THANKS!
"Emperor of Bones and the Two Tokens" feels like a weird cover band of some sort 😂 I really liked your second deck - I love seeing Breach used more as a value card than combo one. Very fun
Red was obviously open but that was the saddest pivot after the most hyped start. Passing time spiral, mishra's workshop, mana drain, basalt monolith combo etc. etc. 😢 I don't know that it wasn't 'correct' but artifacts just seemed like it had a way higher ceiling for both power and fun at that point in the draft.
I think generally he commits to an archetype way too hard as opposed to just jamming good cards. There is nothing saying you can't run academy as a value piece instead of only running it if you go crazy with it.
Why is little Karn in cubes? I've never cast it, or seen it cast, and it seems to endlessly going around tables. Is there a deck it thrives in? Feels like if we were including niche Karns, Big Karn is the more satisfying play.
@@Mitch_Feral I love Karn as a super potent threat in artifact decks, and it goes off real hard with kitten. So basically, anytime when playing it and -2 twice is the plan. That being said, it's just not an early pickup, but it also rarely wheels - so it's hard to get it in the right place in packs
@@kujabuja Ah, gotcha - yeah, I've rarely seen Kitten end up in a great spot, either, since I came back to the game. Those activator type cards are strange. Thanks for the thoughtful answer, that helps clarify things.
I wonder what the person who cut artifacts in pack one opened. I feel like tinker and academy are the only reason I'd go into the deck. Saw the workshop later, too. Painful.
I was surprised he didn't take Spirebluff. At that point in the draft I still assumed the deck would end up being blue artifacts + a few red cards. But Wheel is a more powerful card, and whatever intuition he had that artifacts wasn't open ended up being right.
I would need like a graph or something. I understand that some drafts gives you token to enter another event I would call them Level 1 event, then Level 2 event, etc. Oh well! I’ll get over it 😅
in that game against blue/white academy, it's not that I think playing wheel was bad, it's that keeping wheel to the DRC scry was not great if you were gonna be afraid to play wheel anyway right?
Keeping the one lander with Karakas deck 1 match 2 was so greedy, justifiably punished. You didn't just need to draw one mountain, you needed multiple lands in just a few turns to make it work. Odds were against.
I would love someone to ask a question to LR about his stance on mulligans in VCube. It seems at least one game every day is feast or famine after keeping insane keeps like this, or his no lander the following day, or the 5 green cards + 2 Islands the following day. Surely the decks/cards are powerful enough to fight back after a mulligan?
"Is this a Lurrus-Academy deck?" is probably the most LSV sentence I've ever heard.
Some shockingly responsible drafting from LSV.
Seriously I would have been picking the 3-mana Basalt Monolith to boost my artifact count for Academy lmao
Such a breath of fresh air. I don't hate fun centric drafting but the variety this provides is greatly appreciated.

@@LethalPigeon7 conversely i was so mad during that draft. "no you could-- come on there's-- you could've--"

I agree with everything you said
pod play always better. makes both drafting and playing more interesting
"See this is why you put Dracosaur in your deck, if they don't have an answer..."
*opponent Swords it
"Oh."
🤣🤣🤣

but it's in the title so don't you still know just the same
I come for the Tolarian Academy's. The kind of respect LSV has for that card cannot be overstated
I can't believe how invested I am in Luis getting to play cube worlds. Go, LSV!
@1:33:00 you also could have taken the robber attacked with all then used ajani to make a token and ping him for 3.
1:33:40 I believe bringing back Roberto would have done it as well, no? Ajani for 6 to the dome.
Why at 25:00 not play Gut and attack with shaman to sac the treasure and get a skeleton going?
The old LSV would have taken Academy, you've changed man!

Lsv did make it to the secound draft on yhis channel

Time Walk and two Moxes
Cube is back - love it!

Tbf breach has gotten pretty narrow so it does wheel more than it used to
@@dougisacat yeah I just assumed there is some nerd like me coping to open the other two pieces
Great content
12:29 feel like dark ritual would’ve been awesome. You already have 3 free black sources and 3 awesome dragons to ritual out and scarlett
I'm so sad that the 2nd draft wasn't a feeder draft. When you were winning round 3 I was cheering.. then it ended....
55:45 no consideration for oust?

Mono red just really needed some acceleration to stay ahead.

Lurrus is so back baby.
I’m pretty positive ajani ult was bugged while this was recorded and would’ve made you sac all your stuff if they let it resolve… ty mtgo

hired claw in vintage?
D1P3P1, Phlage was the pick here
Not playing tarn with drc seems crazy.
Feeder league is me playing cube and feeding them wins
Im so sad you missed on zuran orb
You heavily underrate Anje’s Ravager because you’re not used to playing it
Indeed its extremely busted.. recall every turn and if not they will have to use a removal on it.

No no no lurrus no no
no respect for anges ravager, the draw 3 every turn is sooooooo good, you run away with the game so fast
