  • In this video I talk about some of the more Advanced Settings I like to use on the Minelab Equinox 800 for hunting in parks and fields.
I look at setting up Tone Breaks, Tone Break Pitch and Tone Break Volume.
I also look at Iron Bias Settings, and Accept/Reject settings that may help users of this detector when starting out.
Visit Luke Steven's video on Tone Breaks for more information on this topic. Thanks Luke for the inspiration!

Great instructional vid…clear, concise and to the point! One of the best explanations yet. I already understood it but have a buddy who just doesn’t get it..this should do the trick. If not, no one can help him! LOL

Just learned more about my 800 in the last 12 minutes, than I have in the last year. Thanks so much for sharing. Looking forward to giving this a run at my local park. The gold coins should really stand out now.

@@coilsandcoinsdetecting I went back again to the same location, and got another $7, but also found a really nice ladies sterling silver ring, with what looks like a diamond in the centre. I will need to get it confirmed by a jeweller. Either way, it is still an awesome find. You have not only given me some good settings, but also inspiration. Thanks :)

That’s a fantastic and very informative Video! Well explained & without unnecessary nonsense.
Bought my Equinox 800 last year and used it yesterday for the first time after a ton of research and reading 3/4 of the manual.
I did not come across all this, but after detected for almost 8 hours straight, I figured how to set the machine to get more or less accurate feedback. So this Video will help making it even better, so THANK YOU very much!
But there’s one thing I’d like to know… why does everyone recommend leaving the Beach setting from -09 to 40?
I came across a ton of tin-foil, bottle-caps, screw-caps and such waste that I ended up deleting all frequencies until 15. After that, every beep was a success.
Not as if I would have found a lot, but 7 coins it was, so being it the first day, I think that’s pretty good :)

Thanks for watching, and for your kind words. With Beach Modes, fine gold chains and small gold earrings can have a target ID in the 1-8 range, so I usually discriminate out everything below 0, and leave everything else open. Having said that, you will have to dig A LOT of rubbish before you ever find that one chain or earring! It’s a personal choice, and some days (depending on the beach and how much time I have), I’ll discriminate everything below 15 too. Best of luck!

@@coilsandcoinsdetecting Hey man, thanks a lot, I appreciate you taking the time, I started to figure that out by watching more of your videos and looking up some other. Seems like my understanding was a little off. The amount of bottle caps und foils at beaches is incredible (at least here). But hey, that's my part of making this world a cleaner one. ^^ Happy detecting

In 6 months using beach mode with coiltek 14 inch I never had to ground balance, I just go between beach 1 and 2 depending on soil moisture as per minelab recommendations

@@coilsandcoinsdetecting I only have two issues with the machine, backlight wrong colour and minelab vdi numbers are too tightly grouped compared to other brands of machine’s. For Field 1 and 2, the default Target Tone setting is set to 2 Tones. You need to go into this setting and change it to 5 Tones, and then you can use the Advanced settings as per the video with 5 different tone breaks. Good luck!

    • @coilsandcoinsdetecting
      @coilsandcoinsdetecting  2 года назад +2

Hi Kathleen - thanks for your comment. When I'm hunting, I'm constantly turning All Metal on/off so I can hear what's around my target more clearly, so the tone breaks work well for that. I'm also regularly changing my discrimination settings, depending on my location, and what I'm searching for (i.e. coins, relics, everything etc). With tone breaks already pre-set, when I include/exclude certain Target IDs they are automatically applied.

These settings work well in Australia, mainly because our most common current coins ($1 & $2) have Target IDs of 21 & 22, and our older predecimal coins ring up between 20-30. You may need to adjust these settings slightly for the US - let me know how it goes, and good luck!
