Its so interesting to read Stewarts Diaries as I was growing up in England listening to the music he was involved in and around.I could listen to him all day.
re: old acts playing new material: I saw X the other night in SF and sure, they played favorite old songs and very much kicked ass. But they also played some of their new stuff from 2020's "Alphabetland", and those songs blended right in with the old stuff. John Doe hinted that they have another new album in the works as well. Not bad for for some old punks!
I was afraid to introduce myself to Stewart in 1983 at Rudyards after they played Houston. Always regretted it as I later learned how fabulous he is as a drummer and a person
Seems every interview he reveals more history. Interesting to hear specifically why the High Pitch snare drum came to be. It was a little more to do than simply the sound "cuts through" as we've been told for years
I am sharing with musician friends of mine. We don't all agree on music, but we do love The Police.
No drummer quite like Stewart Copeland. He is the guy right at the intersection of punk and reggae grooves.
...cornflakes... I'm so glad I found this. This man is so smart & funny.
That was fun AND interesting😃
👍

Really great enticing conversation. I was happy to hear more from Stewart than his normal talking points🤘
Great episode with one of the greats! So cool having him break down the connection between all the ska of the early 80's !

But… who is attacking ska?
Yea, cranked snares are where it's at. Way more responsive & dynamic.
Damn, just casually nabbing up a top 10 drummer.
