In your same order. 1) Leatherman Mut with the same tool kit accessories because I always carry. 2) Any baseball cap will do, I am not that big of a Nancy. 3) Garmin Fenix 6. Thrunite W1 Flashlight. 4) Spyderco Para Signature, CPM S110V. 5) Danner boots not sure what kind, they do not make them anymore, so I keep sending them to their Cobbler shop to be remade. 6) Mountain Smith Tour with straps. All purchased because of your channel. Love them all. Thank you for EVERYTHING you do.
Might suggest the rovyvon E5u as you can run it off a AAA battery as well as an internal battery and the pocket clip lets you attach it to your hat and use it like a head lamp
I’m literally living in a tent in the desert/mountains as part of a year off-grid experience, and I can’t say I’ve spent anywhere near the amount of time considering my EDC.
@@troypiggins Yeah, you can get satellite internet just about anywhere now. “Off-grid” just refers to not being on city power and water, I use solar panels and such.
Hey man great channel watching from Australia. I had to do the very thing you are talking about in this episode, I had my edc bag stolen from my car by a scumbag and other things including tools but loosing the bag and the contents was the thing I was shattered about the most, I had built the bag up over a number of years and was almost perfect for my needs. But I enjoyed rebuilding again to be honest I changed a few things even the bag itself.
I really appreciate these types of videos from you. There are so many gear reviews to wade through, this was a nice clarifying set of them. Plus, I need a new keychain light.
Great topic. Sends me into panic stations. I have waaay too many knives, 90 fixed and similar number folding. Can’t choose which ones I could give up despite reality telling me I really, truly only NEED a handful!!!!
Great video! I think you should make a part 2 and complete the list with other articles of clothing, med equipment, fire starting, water filter and containment, etc….maybe not all “EDC” to some people but enough to be completely self reliant.
That's why I keep a list of my gear on my online storage site. That way if I lose everything I can logon from somewhere to get some idea where to start from - also good in case insurance wants to know what you had. If needed you can also upload photos. Have a great day.
Very timely topic and exercise. At the top of my list would be my Wave+ with bit kit and bit extender, Streamlight Stylus Pro, Gerber EAB Lite, and Icon Flex Head ratchet and bit set from Harbor Freight.
Ok, first off..I won't do clothing...that's a slippery slope, boots? Belt? Jacket? Etc..so wazoo Cache cap, cache belt and, viking whetstone necklace is a given. 1. Victorinox Alox Classic (located in hat brim) 2. Garmin Instinct 2 SOLAR (has to be solar imo) 3. Multitool with 1H blade and clip...your choice of the G10 is excellet...I don't know which I would choose...but the Spirit MX Clip is at the top of that list. 4. Warrior Mini 2 Flashlight 5. Skillcraft Aviator B3 pen (it's perfect) 6. Edc fixed blade: tough...really tough...Dawson knives magnacut 3" hunter is damn close. 7. Spyderco Spydichef
Another benefit to my Magpul hat is that the top button on the crown is left off so you can run ear protection and not have it pressing down on your dome.
Great vid. Beginning of each year is a great time for a personal EDC review. Excluding clothing: 1. Mobile phone. 2. Light (Rovyvon A1 excellent choice to start). 3. Multitool (Leatherman OHT). 4. Watch (something Casio G Shock solar). 5. Knife (Spyderco Manix 2). 6. Backpack (something 5.11). 7. Small first aid kit (I hate being without some form of first aid). 8. Gloves (something Mechanix). 9. A good powerbank. Ok 8 & 9 might be cheating but for me they are important enough 😁. Sharp blades all.
we lost our van in a fire late last year. My EDC pack was in it. This is exactly what I'm thinking thru these days. Just got a Gerber Center Drive. I was given a flashlight/lighter combo. I carry a normal pen. I don't get the fascination with tac pens. Soon going to add a small rechargeable battery for charging stuff.
Great video. So much of my edc collection is just stuff I got when I was trying to figure out what I liked. A fresh start would be interesting. Happy new year.
I hear you. I have a couple of boxes at the back of the garage filled with stuff that I thought I would need and use - but don't. Starting fresh with what I know now would same me hundreds of dollars!! Have a great day.
Today Taurus G2s, Hogue Mini Incursion, Benchmade SOCP dagger, Thrunite BSS v4. Also have the SOCP folder in the straps of my sling bag. Thanks for the EDC update Aaron! Y’all have a fantastic weekend & God Bless! 🔪🗡️
I'm a cap enthusiast. Fit is the key. I have a large melon. Like I'm down to one or two snaps on a one size fits all cap. Only owned one fitted cap, too much money and I tend to ruin caps quickly. I wear trucker hats because of work, it's my only choice. Cowboy hat is my preferred hat. I'm limited by my job in wearing one but I would wear one everyday if I could. Not just for looks but the utility. I work outside a lot and my neck is a little worse for wear. Yes sunscreen works do I use it, nope. Dirt and cream don't mix. I digress.
I really enjoyed this video. I live in Texas and on a budget. I would really like to see some of the same idea but geared toward people in my area. But, I always love your content!
You might want to check out trucker caps from a few running companies. I also love trucker caps and you were essentially describing a running hat in your video. Headsweats and celo, as well as plenty of other brands, make great trucker caps for active use.
Awesome Idea Aaron 👍👍 1. Charge TTi modified with awl 2. Spyderc . . . um Benchma . . . um Chris Reev . . . wait seriously dude ONE KNIFE??? 3. Mystery Ranch Scree 32 4. Suunto Alpha Traverse Alpha 5. Kifaru Side blister 6. FENIX PD36R PRO RECHARGEABLE 7. Morakniv Bushcraft Black Whew but that would suck if I lost all of my stuff,
I'm trying to restart my edc when I started last year with the maxpediton remora now I need a better system I want a vanquest but every time I settle on one it's discontinued
Big hat person here. Have one on when I'm not working. Probably have a hat on 60-80% of the time. My go to hats are Ebbet Field Flannels hats. Old school baseball hats that are quite stylish. They aren't cheap. Cool thing, they have no structure. They are like the old school baseball hats from the 1900-1960s. I wear Condor Operator hats as my backup hat. Don't care if I trash the Condors. But there is no trashing of the EFF hats.
I have an Amp12 I was thinking of getting rid of, but before I saw this video, I realized it was a great all around that I could use in a lot of different scenarios, so I am probably keeping it now.
Nice vid. Knipex Cobra 125, Vic SAK Super Tinker, Streamlight 1L-1AA, Machine Era Classic Brass pen, All Ett original wallet, Spyderco Dragonfly 2, Casio Oceanus
I agree 110% with you on the Leatherman charge w/G10 scales. I just used your link to score another one for $119.97! Thank you! I have gone all in on the G10 scale version of Leatherman. I have an orange and a red, plus another red on the way from a trade deal. I saw this orange G10 version on sale and thought, Meh....it's only money and snagged one. I much prefer the textured scales on these over the standard Charge/Wave models. Plus, I like the colors, to me they stand out if I lay them down while working. Sometimes the silver color of the regular models get lost to me. Thank you!
Old School Gerber Multi-Tool, with full sized pliers. I like that you can open it with one hand. Swiss Army Deluxe Tinker, great knife. AA Mini Mag Flashlight. US Army Patrol Cap, fits under my bike helmet. Ferro Rod. Compass. For a large folding lock back knife, my Buck 110, that I've put a thumb stud on for one hand opening.
I'd never considered what I'd pick if I had to start from scratch. Very interesting premise for a video. I have a 5.11 AMP 24. Great bag and very modular but I don't like that it won't stand upright without being leaned backwards against something. I've now moved to a Direct Action Dragon Egg 2. Early days but so far I'm extremely impressed.
My seven edc items are. I have a friend that had a outdoor hiking gear Alpaca expedition outfitters hat. Right now Kershaw leek Skelotool NEBO lights Hand crafting bifold wallet. Work boots are Justin’s Fitness shoes are ASICS kayano Pack is right waymark gear mile but hoping they do an edc pack soon. Garmin vivoactive 4s. I’ve also been thinking about upgrading to the one of the instincts models.
@@gideonstactical Thanks. I’ve debating on a full leatherman surge or wave+ with the ratchet adapter. I forgot to mention the skelotool has a hammer mod for when I hike or camp.
Yes I like to make modular kits that go in a bag. I have one main kit that my whole bag is focused around. I try to make two kits just in case I have someone with me.
I need to check out the magpul caps and I've been looking at the leatherman charge because of the g10 scales I currently carry a surge as far as blades I've been carrying hogue for the last couple of years my next on will be the k320 axg and thorogood is my boot choice now
The one thing thats killing my set up is a good pair of gloves. I cant seem to find that solid combination of gloves that can stand up to bushcraft and allow me to keep decent finger dexterity. Would definitely be interested in some glove reviews.
Yes that is tough. I would look at smart wools ridgeway gloves. They have excellent dexterity for leather and I would say mid-warm means I usually use them for work and play 9 months out of the year
1-REBAR ( black oxide with replacement cutter inserts with RAE GEAR holder) 2- Garmin 7x sapphire solar 3- Thrunite Archer 1AV3 4- ZT 0357BW 5- Columbia Coolhead Ii Ball Cap 6- Columbia Men's Gunnison Ii Omni-Heat boots 7- Maxpedition TT26 Bug Out Pack Dark blue.
Cool consideration! I’d probably go with what I’ve settled on for present EDC, including: Garmin Instinct, Spyderco Delica 4, & Victorinox Manager & Olight i1r on my key ring. For a multitool I’d probably use a Leatherman Wave+. I’m bald so I appreciate a ton of different hats; one of my favorites is my issued Polartec “Cap, Synthetic Microfleece One Size”.
I wonder if 5.11 will make a 2.0 series of the AMP line. Hopefully they do AND I hope they sell all the accessories with it to swap them out easier and so the accessory isn't sold out but you have the bag you want. That's the problem I'm running into now... I joined the EDC Bag game too late, haha. Thanks for the video.
Great video. I have a compact flashlight that uses a rechargeable lithium battery, 16850 I think, that has been my EDC for the last three years at home and work. It recharges with a micro USB and is waterproof, low light will last 300+ hours and on high at 1000 lumens it throws a beam 200 yards. Three years and still on the same battery, incredible! They are like $40 on Amazon. Soonfire is the brand, don't remember the model.
Believe it or not, I lost a tote out of the bed of my truck (the tailgate popped open) and I lost my entire GHB plus some other camping gear. Fortunately, my tools (including my bushcraft knife) were in the cab. So, I've been doing a lot of research as I replace my gear. The 7 items that I replaced with something different that took the most research was my pack (I went with the 511 Rush 72) my tarp (OneWind 12 ft Hex), my ferro rod (Uberleben Zuden), folding saw (I went Samurai thanks to you) my belt (a Jukmo rigger belt), my water filter (Lifestraw Flex) and my tourniquet (NAR Gen 7 CAT).
1 leatherman squirt on keyring. 2 Knipex 125 cobra. 3 victorinox Tourist (with essential can opner mod ) The small victorinox 84mm Tourist is all i need for every day . Laws here in Scotland don't allow much more . 4 rovyvon A9 copper on keyring.
I am just starting haha. Just got a Spyderco Para 3 LW, Nitecore Tini 2, Apple Watch Ultra, Nomad card holder. Need a multitool but don't know which one to get. Don't want a big chunky one so maybe the leatherman micra?
1. Full size Spartan Harsey folder 2. Victorinox Swiss Tool 3. Victorinox watch 4. Boonie hat 5. Viktos Johnny Combat boots 6. Olight Arkfeld 7. ValTac Rover 25 backpack (no longer made since ValTac went out of business)
Hmm. That is a nice thought experiment what would I start with if it became necessary to rebuild my edc. What is included in my edc? I need to do some serious thinking.
I'm a fan of the wazoo cashe cap myself, and my preferred Leatherman is the super tool I got one in highschool that only recently got lost, so over 20 years, I never had anything I needed to use it for that it didn't excel at.
For me the list is the following: 1. Ontario Rat 1....1st pocket knife i bought about 10 years ago, and still alive and kicking. Might end up going with D2 instead of AUS 8, but AUS 8 is a very solid steel 2. Victorinox Hiker....it has lots of tools in a small package. 3. Leatherman rev....great set of tools for good price 4. Casio G shock....one that has Bluetooth capability along with solar panel....good item to have as an alternative to smart watches (still not a big fan, but might change in the future) 4. I guess any backpack will work as long is between 12 to 20L and has enough compartments to put stuff and is waterproof All these items could be had for less than $50 each (except Casio G-Shock that can go between $100 to $175 depending where you purchase it) Hey, i know I'm cheap but gotta start somewhere lol
Great video concept! Maybe we look at the same scenario but with a budget? Like you have to get a basic edc setup (e.g., knife, multitool, flashlight, other - wallet, watch, etc.) for under $100, $250, and $500.
Most things would depend on price point but the very 1st thing I’d replace is my ball cap which is a Notch. Absolutely love that hat. For my boots I’m going with Twisted X. The rest I’ll just wing it unless my saddle is in the mix cuz my multi-tool & my Strongarm are attached to it. Now if my saddle gets destroyed y’all get ya boats ready cuz I’ll be crying a river. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Leatherman wave plus, benchmade griptilian 550, g-shock dw6500, streamlight microstream, converse allstars low cut black on black, blue alpha edc cobra gun belt LLOD exclusive, and the bag is a toss up between a vertx gamut 2.0 and a 5.11 rush 24 2.0. I love gear also but I agree it’s about living life to the full ✝️
Price would be the major consideration for me tbh. Exchange rate isn't in my favour but I would pick up a Gerber MP600 Pro Scout with bitkit, followed by a Vic Forester OHO for my outdoor use (4110 is not the best steel but gives me a knife, saw, prybar, awl in one tool), handmade planters hat I can pick up locally, Fenix E12 light, BSF lightweight boots, minimal wallet, inexpensive Titan analog watch.
Instinct plug-in AWESOME! and I own like a you quite a few caps. I do nylon non-mesh like M-Tac for durability and stain resistant. I LOVE the Cold Steel Voyager series (tanto my edc). Boots would be Ad-Tec 9" logger boots are the shitz ankle support and comfort. These boots I have beat the shitz out of in all condition AND with some heavy weight wool socks -10 comfort. Love your vids and been a fan for years!
I hope you jump on the GOAT Tools multitool before the pre-order price increase! Leatherman price increases keep rising. I was going to go with the Charge+ TTI, but for about the same price, I went with the modular GOAT system.
Thinking about it as a starting over again…. I’d probably start with a comfy bag, the North Face Mountain Daypack has served me well for a while. Knife would be the Spyderco PM2, I always keep a fixed blade in my bag and while I own more expensive I always gravitate back to the Mora HD Companion because it works well my the PM2. I like the Olight i5R EOS, simple and perfect for me. I always have a multitool but to be honest I don’t have a vast knowledge, so I’ll stick with my tried and true Wave+ as the layout just works for me. Next is the Adventure Medical Ultralight and Trauma Pack as one, I use first aid kits often and like knowing I have quality gear to help anyone that needs it. Lastly a Kleen Kanteen 32oz. I live in a fairly urban area but grew up in a rural area and like to think I’m only ever one bad day from moving back to the woods and this kit accommodates that. If I could have an 8th it’d be any lighter….. I don’t smoke but love a campfire.
Interesting knife choice - I have a Lionsteel KUR inbound and it appears to be very similar (size, shape, price) to the Benchmade. It might be one you'd like. BTW, I blame you for my Lionsteel obsession. I usually go with something much less expensive for a folding knife. And while I like the idea of a multi-tool, and have owned a few, I rarely use them - I always have a better knife on me, and I'd rather walk a little to retrieve a real tool for anything I'm working on.
Hmmm… if $ wasn’t the problem it is now? * Leatherman P4 Free (updated steel hopefully) *2023 Wazoo Cache Hat *GShock with Compass *Streamlight of some flavor *Esee 3 in S35VN with better scales, sheath, ect… *Ospery backpack ( Daylite Plus or bigger) * Replace my DarnTough socks!!! My true EDC that EDCs me! The list could go on but I’ll end it here. Thanks for the vid!
Thanks Aaron for the video. I think I would start with the El Chete like the one hanging on your wall. I live in a cabin in the woods and my El Chete is one of my most used knives for processing wood down for the woodstove. I'm pretty old school on everything else and can pretty much make anything work for me, but certainly would miss the El Chete.
Happy New Year Aaron and GT Family! • Mini flashlight (rechargeable) • Leatherman (blackened Charge or Surge) • Alpaka pouch (Utility) • Vivobarefoot (PLIII or a boot) • Sporran (Day or Hunting)
IT'S as this video was about some of his favourite brand EDC items as opposed to meeting the very basic EDC requirements....if you were to start from scratch, then shouldn't a starter edc kit at least include a water container and some shelter (a poncho will suffuce)?....as for the items shown, they look awesome and practical
Well... My EDC choices to start over based on they're all typically available KNIFE: Leatherman FREE K4 POUCH: Vanquest EDCM Huge (for essential Diabetes supplies) LIGHT: Fenix TK20R v2 (or PD36R) BACKPACK: Alpha One Niner Evade 1.5 Full in MCB PEN: first Zebra F-701 then Tactile Turn Side Click Short with a .5mm ballpoint insert SHOES: Keen Targhee III waterproof Mid
I'm a refugee from Russia. And I actually have to rebuild my EDC kit among other things. So, thank you for an advice! P.S. In a new country, I instantly got a Mora Basic 511, with carbon steel blade.
How do you store your hats? I recently built a new all black EDC: Casio GWB5600BC, Klarus E3, Fenix E01v2.0, Real Steel Cormorant Apex, Ruike P801SB, Sog PowerPint, Victorinox Huntsman, black phone case. For storage i need to get the black version of the Mil-Tec tactical fanny pack, wich i have in OD green.
I'd honestly go with a Gerber mp600, I absolutely love the one I got years ago with. I love my Benchmade 940, so probably that for a knife, I ALWAYS have a hat, and for a light I absolutely love my olight baton 2 pro, shoes would literally be some ariat cowboy boots and then a sig p365 to round it all out.
Interesting thought experiment Aaron. I have recently changed around my EDC gear bc I’ve found better stuff that works easier for me. I’ve had good luck with the Bestech Swordfish in S35VN (I too have large size hands), the streamlight mini, a regular Bic lighter and a Leatherman Wave+. I’ve added some cold weather gear to my truck EDC and have added some better sleeping pads (ThermoRest MondoKing) to my camping gear bc I only can do ‘car camping’ nowadays as a result of a spinal injury. No more hiking for me. Love your videos Aaron. Keep up the good work and I hope to see a review of my new favorite camp knife (the Rat 6 in S35VN) in the future.
Spyderco Urban (I live in the UK) A big idea design bolt action pen Knipex cobra pliers xs Olight Baton 3 JRW tough clip Some kind of 5 panel cap Bellroy wallet phone case
Like your picks do a budget 1 like if you lost everything in a fire and were on a budget. My no budget EDC would be a little different not much of a watch guy so I'd switch that out that slot for a fixed blade probably a Esse or bark river and I'd change the hat out for a decent first aid kit
Now, I can’t imagine you’re going to rely on that Benchmade for a Survival Blade on your adventures. I’ve been in search for my “theoretical” perfect survival blade for years now. Being I can’t seem to get my hands on the DT OG Grizzly, what would you choose as a comparable option? Or next best thing?
Oh of course not, it’s for everyday carry. I will do another video on 7 Outdoor tools soon. I would suggest looking at the lionsteel M7 as a really good one off the top of my head. Work Tuff also has some epic designs.
G'day Aaron, .... mate ...... I dont even want to think about "if I lost all my gear" lol. Mind you with all the natural disasters in recent times there must be many folks in that situation : ( Some very cool choices there that make a lotta sense. A quality power bank would have to be up there too IMO. I reckon it'd take me a month just to narrow the field in many categories, but a Recon 1 drop point in S35 and a Thrunite TC12 V2 are NOT negotiable from an EDC perspective. Cheers Duke.
For my personal choice, the Lowa and Aku boots are excessively robust (combat or elite for example) and are the most used at the military level. Great video!
Happy New Year, Aaron! This is an interesting but really challenging exercise, because what I need in my daily life varies widely. I think I'm going to carry the same EDC setup all this week, just to see how it works out.
I had everything except my wallet and phone stolen 2 years ago during a trip to San Antonio, TX. It was one of the most depressing things ever. Went inside a buffalo wild wings for lunch and everything I brought was in the car. Came out about an hour later to a shattered window and an empty car. Couldn't believe it. Took the cops FOUR HOURS to respond. Stopped at a Buc-ee's on the way to the airport and was able to get what I needed to make it back home. A few days later a family from my church offered to buy a replacement of everything I lost. THAT was one of most incredible things that ever happened. People who stay steal from others need a real life change, but it turned out to be an opportunity for me to see that good can win over evil.
I have the leatherman charge as well with titanium handles my watch is a citizen eco drive charged by the sun nothing fancy but never had to worry about it’s battery glows in the dark tells month day time and hr of the day my hats change all the time depending on what I’m wearing etc don’t really have a favorite my favorite blade for yrs is my Benchmade triage in easy to maintain N680 and a separate seatbelt cutter and orange grippy g10 handles plenty tough my boots are the salmon quest 4 goretex boots and they are great they haven’t let me down in the last 2 yrs I’ve used them though I don’t hike as much as u do just hunting a few times a yr and day to day use etc. my bag is the medium savotta jaakari a little heavy for long hikes but is tough as nails we’ll made with 1000 codura tons of uses molle 30 liters of space shoulder waist and chest straps carry handle waterproof drawstring on the top just love it replaced my 511 rush 72 which was also great but wanted to upgrade a little more and I’m glad I did.
I am waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to cheap to get any of the things you landed on for EDC. I'd go with a North Edge Apache smart watch. ($30) Compass, Altimeter, Barometer, Waterproof 50m. Ganzo G302H Multitool ($40) cheap ball cap ($5 or less). I think I'd pick a fixed blade over a folder, likely the Mora Companion HD (under $30). I pick a solid pair of hiking shoes, likely chinese (around $30), and replace the insoles right away ($10 or less). A flashlight. These days I would go with Wurkkos or a Sofirn light, likely 18650 ($30 or less) and a belt pouch to hold it. For a backpack I'd pick a tactical style pack ($50 or less) with MOLLE on the outside. Likely in chinese multicam or black and about 25L. I'd slap a bottle pouch on one side and a first aid pouch on the other.
Those are some pretty sweet options👍 Those Danners are quite gorgeously functional but my budget for and abuse of footwear generally calls for Keen Targhee 2s. Gotta say those Danners really impress though so I might be saving up for those puppies. The Danners would have to last a good bit longer then my Keens however to justify the price since function and frugality have much more weight in my footwear decisions then fashion. Can't argue with the choice of a Rovy Von, those are awesome lights imo! But as an admitted Fenix Fanboy I'd have to go with the new PD25R if my current Fenix RC05 SE was gone. Gotta say being a ball cap guy Im suprised you didnt choose a light that has a 2 way pocket clip that you can clip to your hat. I do like that Benchmade Redoubt and am actually seriously considering buying a Benchmade Taggedout as im finally old enough to justify to myself that it's OK to spend Benchmade money on a knife especially if it's a Benchmade lol. But honestly I don't think I'll ever find an edc knife/multitool that will replace the near perfection of my Victorinox One Handed Trekker for my edc needs and desires. So I'd have to buy another one immediately if it disappeared. I'm definitely a fellow ball cap essentialist. It's probably a 365 day a year must have for me lol, and I am on the same page with the non structural front so it conforms and fits the head like a glove. I do however prefer a full material cap instead of a mesh back. My current fav is an older charcoal The North Face ball cap that they also don't make anymore👎 Might have to check out magpul when mine finally gets to worn out to wear. A watch is a luxury for me since I've always got the phone on me but a writing instrument is probably on my top 7 list and my go to will always be the Skillcraft B3 Aviator. It's a great multipen/pencil and it pairs nicely with a Write in the Rain notebook. I would agree that a good edc bag is definitely on the top 7 essential replacements list. Mine is an older Osprey Ozone 46 and I like it a lot for my needs and wants in an edc all purpose pack/bag that can handle many different use cases. I do wish however that more companies would start making highly water resistant or even waterproof edc bags/packs.
The way he talks gets me pumped. Building my own edc pouch ATM and love watching this channel. Keep going bro
I'm 62 and I wear caps 95% of the time and I have a huge collection
Might suggest the rovyvon E5u as you can run it off a AAA battery as well as an internal battery and the pocket clip lets you attach it to your hat and use it like a head lamp
Good suggestion. Just did a video on the E series this past weekend.
I’m literally living in a tent in the desert/mountains as part of a year off-grid experience, and I can’t say I’ve spent anywhere near the amount of time considering my EDC.
Nice!! Very cool 😎
You’re living off the grid but still watching RUclips videos?
@@troypiggins Yeah, you can get satellite internet just about anywhere now. “Off-grid” just refers to not being on city power and water, I use solar panels and such.
Urban detox - I love it. Stay safe and enjoy.
So T. What seven items “do” you consider using routinely? Essentially speaking.
Great video . For me it is a flash light a cap , cell phone, Garmin watch, ear buds, power bank, and vords
Garmin Instinct Solar is my number one wristwatch that I wear every single day, and every night.
I always wear a cap. And I've never met anyone as particular as I am in regards to bending the brim just right.
I really appreciate these types of videos from you. There are so many gear reviews to wade through, this was a nice clarifying set of them. Plus, I need a new keychain light.
Hahah
I’ve had extremely good luck with my Olight iR2 Eos!!!
I rock the Rovyvon A1x on all my keychains - as Aaron indicates it is a great light for such a small size.
I always wear a cap but it is always a Fitted Atlanta Braves hat.
Thanks for the idea!
This is a great premise for a video - I've got so much gear I can't imagine getting to start over!
You and me both!
That's why I keep a list of my gear on my online storage site. That way if I lose everything I can logon from somewhere to get some idea where to start from - also good in case insurance wants to know what you had. If needed you can also upload photos. Have a great day.
@@realbroggo - Stellar concept! Oh that’s gonna be a project!!
Very timely topic and exercise. At the top of my list would be my Wave+ with bit kit and bit extender, Streamlight Stylus Pro, Gerber EAB Lite, and Icon Flex Head ratchet and bit set from Harbor Freight.
I would love one of these for a bug out bag or get home bag. I have all the basics but am now wanting to start upgrading but not sure where to start.
Ok, first off..I won't do clothing...that's a slippery slope, boots? Belt? Jacket? Etc..so wazoo Cache cap, cache belt and, viking whetstone necklace is a given.
1. Victorinox Alox Classic (located in hat brim)
2. Garmin Instinct 2 SOLAR (has to be solar imo)
3. Multitool with 1H blade and clip...your choice of the G10 is excellet...I don't know which I would choose...but the Spirit MX Clip is at the top of that list.
4. Warrior Mini 2 Flashlight
5. Skillcraft Aviator B3 pen (it's perfect)
6. Edc fixed blade: tough...really tough...Dawson knives magnacut 3" hunter is damn close.
7. Spyderco Spydichef
Another benefit to my Magpul hat is that the top button on the crown is left off so you can run ear protection and not have it pressing down on your dome.
For sure!!!
Starting from scratch here - this is great. Keep up the uploads this year!
Thanks! Will do!
Morakniv Bushcraft Black Whew but that would suck if I lost all of my stuff,
Best video idea ever! Tagging you in my version.
I'm trying to restart my edc when I started last year with the maxpediton remora now I need a better system I want a vanquest but every time I settle on one it's discontinued
I have a surge and its hands down the best multi tool ive ever owned or used. I just might pick up the Charge+ TTi Tool Pouch kit.
Cant go wrong with the Swisschamp and the Fenix PD25R. Wazoo sharpening stone necklace.
Nice vid. Knipex Cobra 125, Vic SAK Super Tinker, Streamlight 1L-1AA, Machine Era Classic Brass pen,
All Ett original wallet, Spyderco Dragonfly 2, Casio Oceanus
Right now Kershaw leek
Skelotool
NEBO lights
Hand crafting bifold wallet.
Work boots are Justin’s
Fitness shoes are ASICS kayano
Pack is right waymark gear mile but hoping they do an edc pack soon.
Garmin vivoactive 4s. I’ve also been thinking about upgrading to the one of the instincts models.
Love the list!
Watch Timex, SAK Huntsman, flashlight skilhunt e3a, leatherman rev
Great video 👍
Garmin are absolutely killing it with their smart watches !
💯
I need to check out the magpul caps and I've been looking at the leatherman charge because of the g10 scales I currently carry a surge as far as blades I've been carrying hogue for the last couple of years my next on will be the k320 axg and thorogood is my boot choice now
The one thing thats killing my set up is a good pair of gloves. I cant seem to find that solid combination of gloves that can stand up to bushcraft and allow me to keep decent finger dexterity. Would definitely be interested in some glove reviews.
Yes that is tough. I would look at smart wools ridgeway gloves. They have excellent dexterity for leather and I would say mid-warm means I usually use them for work and play 9 months out of the year
Always where a richardson 112. I need something to clip my flashlight to as a headlamp. Plus i like how I look with a backwords cap.
1-REBAR ( black oxide with replacement cutter inserts with RAE GEAR holder)
2- Garmin 7x sapphire solar
3- Thrunite Archer 1AV3
4- ZT 0357BW
5- Columbia Coolhead Ii Ball Cap
6- Columbia Men's Gunnison Ii Omni-Heat boots
7- Maxpedition TT26 Bug Out Pack Dark blue.
I’m with you on the hats. Currently the Columbia PHG black/gray hunting flag hat. I also like legacy brand hats for unstructured.
1. Glock 43x w/ extra mag
2. Spyderco PM2
3. Analog all metal watch (I kinda hate technology)
4. SAK Tinker
5. Keys
6. Mag Pull Wallet
7. Lighter
I will look into those. Thanks for commenting and glad u enjoyed it!
3 victorinox Tourist (with essential can opner mod )
The small victorinox 84mm Tourist is all i need for every day .
1. Full size Spartan Harsey folder
2. Victorinox Swiss Tool
3. Victorinox watch
4. Boonie hat
5. Viktos Johnny Combat boots
6. Olight Arkfeld
7. ValTac Rover 25 backpack (no longer made since ValTac went out of business)
Hmm. That is a nice thought experiment what would I start with if it became necessary to rebuild my edc. What is included in my edc? I need to do some serious thinking.
Glad it was thought provoking
I'm a fan of the wazoo cashe cap myself, and my preferred Leatherman is the super tool I got one in highschool that only recently got lost, so over 20 years, I never had anything I needed to use it for that it didn't excel at.
For me the list is the following:
1. Ontario Rat 1....1st pocket knife i bought about 10 years ago, and still alive and kicking. Might end up going with D2 instead of AUS 8, but AUS 8 is a very solid steel
2. Victorinox Hiker....it has lots of tools in a small package.
3. Leatherman rev....great set of tools for good price
4. Casio G shock....one that has Bluetooth capability along with solar panel....good item to have as an alternative to smart watches (still not a big fan, but might change in the future)
4. I guess any backpack will work as long is between 12 to 20L and has enough compartments to put stuff and is waterproof
All these items could be had for less than $50 each (except Casio G-Shock that can go between $100 to $175 depending where you purchase it)
Hey, i know I'm cheap but gotta start somewhere lol
Great video! Also what is that knife with the orange handle in the background shelf? Have a great new year!
It’s a case 👍
Great video keep them coming!
Great video concept! Maybe we look at the same scenario but with a budget? Like you have to get a basic edc setup (e.g., knife, multitool, flashlight, other - wallet, watch, etc.) for under $100, $250, and $500.
Ya great ideas I will do a few this year in that vein
Multitool: Leatherman OHT, hat: Wazoo Survival Cache Cap, smart watch: Garmin Instinct 2 Camo, flashlight: Olight Arkfeld, pocket knife: Spyderco Yojimbo 2, footwear: Origin Built boots or Merrell Forestbound Mid Wp Men'S Hiking Boot.
The Redoubt?! Blew my mind with that one. Really makes you.. wait for it... Rethink.
Hahaha right, it was not an easy call 📞
great video--love the suggestions
Thanks so much!
Cable's down and I have no beer. Savage reality.
Awesome!!
* Leatherman P4 Free (updated steel hopefully)
*2023 Wazoo Cache Hat
*GShock with Compass
*Streamlight of some flavor
*Esee 3 in S35VN with better scales, sheath, ect…
*Ospery backpack ( Daylite Plus or bigger)
* Replace my DarnTough socks!!! My true EDC that EDCs me!
The list could go on but I’ll end it here. Thanks for the vid!
Thanks for the list!!
• Mini flashlight (rechargeable)
• Leatherman (blackened Charge or Surge)
• Alpaka pouch (Utility)
• Vivobarefoot (PLIII or a boot)
• Sporran (Day or Hunting)
12:27 Carrying 2 Grayl Geopress? Curious.
Testing that day.
Well... My EDC choices to start over based on they're all typically available
KNIFE: Leatherman FREE K4
POUCH: Vanquest EDCM Huge (for essential Diabetes supplies)
LIGHT: Fenix TK20R v2 (or PD36R)
BACKPACK: Alpha One Niner Evade 1.5 Full in MCB
PEN: first Zebra F-701 then Tactile Turn Side Click Short with a .5mm ballpoint insert
SHOES: Keen Targhee III waterproof Mid
I'm a refugee from Russia. And I actually have to rebuild my EDC kit among other things. So, thank you for an advice!
P.S. In a new country, I instantly got a Mora Basic 511, with carbon steel blade.
Stay safe my friend and good choice on the Mora 511
@@gideonstactical I'm the lucky one. Everything will be good!
Haha, you said you humped in your boots! What's that country song.. knock'n boots?
I'd honestly go with a Gerber mp600, I absolutely love the one I got years ago with. I love my Benchmade 940, so probably that for a knife, I ALWAYS have a hat, and for a light I absolutely love my olight baton 2 pro, shoes would literally be some ariat cowboy boots and then a sig p365 to round it all out.
What's the bag in the back ground?
What is the fanny pack he's wearing around the 12:12minute mark!? With the bottom loop?
Streamlight stylus pro
Leatherman charge titanium
Benchmade 940-2
Bertucci AT-2
Danner boots, no doubt
Zippo rose gold
Spyderco Urban (I live in the UK)
A big idea design bolt action pen
Knipex cobra pliers xs
Olight Baton 3
JRW tough clip
Some kind of 5 panel cap
Bellroy wallet phone case
What's the link for the flashlight?
I’m off to drull over your Dark Timber OG Grizzly Videos...
Oh of course not, it’s for everyday carry. I will do another video on 7 Outdoor tools soon. I would suggest looking at the lionsteel M7 as a really good one off the top of my head. Work Tuff also has some epic designs.
Sorry l, kinda overlooked the EDC Part...
No worries
G'day Aaron, .... mate ...... I dont even want to think about "if I lost all my gear" lol.
Mind you with all the natural disasters in recent times there must be many folks in that situation : (
Some very cool choices there that make a lotta sense.
I have heard good things
I think the bag was the 5.11 AMP 24.? Not 12
Happy New Year, Aaron! This is an interesting but really challenging exercise, because what I need in my daily life varies widely. I think I'm going to carry the same EDC setup all this week, just to see how it works out.
Not good! Now I'm thinking what would I get if I didn't have what I already have! Could be spending a little money!?! Nice vid!
Have you tried the Wazoo Cache Cap?
