I have been to many prisoner reunions and been fortunate to meet a lot of cast and Lois is possibly the most humble and nicest person from the whole cast
Some of the funniest scenes with Lurch that I recall from revisiting the series recently were: 1) She was top dog! 🤣🤣 2) Lou Kelly was trying to figure something out to get them out of an awkward situation. Lurch said "Maybe I can think of something?" Lou responded sarcastically... "I haven't got all week!" 🤣🤣 And 3) Lurch's cell mates secretly dismantled her bed causing it to collapse when she jumped on it to go to bed one night! 🤣🤣
How fantastic was this interview. Lois' interview was superb because her memories were so outstandingly clear and her reprise of 'Down South America Way' was wonderful. A Joy to watch, a lovely lady and possibly Matt and Kens best episode so far. Huge thanks to Talking Prisoner and to Lois for telling her incredible story.
It's great to get some good behind the scenes details from one of Prisoner's biggest stars in the post Bea Smith era, along with Ken who is across the whole series from day 1 until the end!
Wonderful interview! Lurch was such a great character, hilarious and real. I loved her character development and how she found friendship and acceptance from others
Bless. Didn't like her at first, but she just endeared herself to my whole family and grew in importance. By the closing stages of the series she was our favourite. The last 50 or so episodes were terrific, so much quality acting.
The best Christmas eve. Red wine and interview with Lois Collinder!! I always wished she had her own sitcom after prisoner, "Lurch half hour!!" You pronounced my name right at the end by the way! Thank you yet again for including my comment!!!
To all the cast who appeared in this thank you Lois you was one of my favourites you redeemed yourself when you went with Rita the lovely Glenda lindscott you are a lovely actress
ALICE WAS AN IS MY FAVOURITE CHARACHTER I EVEN STILL HAVE A BIT OF A CRUSH ON LOIS RECENTLY SAW HER ON UNDERBELLY A BIG SHOUT OUT TO YOU LOIS FROM THE UK I WILL ALWAYS BE A LOYAL FAN REMEMBER WATCHIN PRISONER ON CHANNEL 5 IN THE LATE NINTIES XX
Another amazing interview well done guys , thanks for keeping the show alive, have watched the show on repeat since I was about 10years old when it was being rerun on UK TV in the 90s...from Bonnie Scotland
@@TalkingPrisoner hey thanks for replying my favourite era of the show was the Sandy riot episodes but really enjoy all of the early eps. At present watching poor Karen being shot by Pats son! Fantastic acting scenes 😊
How amazing that Lois had such a massive hand in creating the role! She also makes a very good point on the lack of continuity on the show due to the turnover of writers. Many characters back stories and personalities could be a little inconsistent over time!!
An early Christmas present indeed! Thanks so much for the thoroughly entertaining conversation with Lois. Hope you both have a great Christmas: looking forward to more brilliant interviews in the New Year! 👍😊 [Edit: Best Lurch line? Has to be episode 550 at the 35:32 mark: Joan has been injured and is laying on the rec room floor. Nora asks “please, is there something we can cover her with?” to which Lurch replies: “Nah, fresh out of cement!”. A proper laugh out loud moment! ]
This was such a joy to watch. Lois has one of the best memories of the cast members. This was just lovely. Thanks again Matt and Ken for bringing us this awesome series of interviews.
@@TalkingPrisoner well, I preferred the 'bad Alice' when she went around with Lou and others playing the heavy....liked her short stint as top dog too.
Hey Ken and Matt-- another great interview. I'm sorry I wasn't quick enough to get some questions in, so I'll just leave a comment. I was really intrigued at Lois's talking of the technical aspects of making the show-- shooting laundry scenes and Rec scenes and everything was out of sequence. It only made me appreciate and admire even moreso all of the effort that went into making the show--the writers, producers, directors ,the actors, and yes the cameraman all coming together to be able to put so many shows together so quickly and which such great skill and quality. I loved her comment about the boom mic because watching it on RUclips there used to be a funny thing where fans would make comments and say watch for the boom mic at 23:33 in the episode and, sure enough, you would see the boom mic drop down and go up again. Fun stuff. Before I go let me wish you both a Happy New Year. Looking forward to more interviews in 2022.
Matt, The exterior shots of Kath and Kim's real life "House" was filmed in Lagoon Place, Patterson Lakes VIC and nowhere near Fountain Gate. Funnily enough it's quite a wealthy "Effluent" area in reality.😀
What a wonderful interview as per! Lois is delightful, humble and clearly loves her craft. We need to see her back on our screens. Have a fantastic Christmas 🎄
Brilliant interview, really nice and entertaining seeing Alice Jenkins again. She sounds the same and still looks like Alice aka " Lurch "🤣 Great video, look forward to more. Thsnks👍👍👍
Ripper Lurch 🍍🍌🍇 She was in one of my favourite periods in Prisoner. Better than 1985 I thought about 86. Awesome she friends with two people she worked closest with in the show, show how likeable she is in real life. I think Lois would be delighted with the actress who plays a 21st century version of Lurch in Wentworth. Some great acting in Wentworth but it's a little bit to in your face which I think is desperation. Anyway merry Christmas 🎄
Really enjoyed this interview with Lois Collinder. She seems so down to earth. Lovely woman and she played Lurch really well. I loved how man hungry she was in PCBH! Glad she found a man in the end 😊
thank you for reading my question re Wentworth/Katrina - what a post-birthday thrill! I was just listening to this in the background and I jumped when I heard my name mentioned, haha! (I'd forgotten I asked it). I'm sure I've read on the Facebook fan pages that part of the "deal" of getting Wentworth made, was that Foxtel INSISTED the old characters names and references were made. Apparently the producers wanted to do a women's prison drama with no explicit link to PCBH, but in order to raise the profile and support the PR around launching the show, they wanted a Prisoner homage. Could just be a rumour, but it makes sense...
Such a lovely interview. What I thought was particularly interesting was hearing how distasteful Lois found the scenes where Eve Wilder was hung, you could clearly see she felt uncomfortable recalling this, but she accepted that as an actor she had to do what was asked of her. Great to finally get proper confirmation that the crew were tearing down the sets around them as ep 692 was filmed.
Hi Peter, I find it interesting about the Eve Wilder hanging also, Louise Siversen said the same thing. What are your thoughts on the Eve Wilder hanging ?
@@TalkingPrisoner first time I saw this episode in the UK in the early 90s the TV station cut the hanging scene just before the chair is pulled, and went to an advert break. It's still a shocking scene today I think, I have mixed feelings about it. I'm more surprised Channel 10 actually let them get away with it, it's a brutal scene!
Could you get Jane Turner from Kath & Kim on Talikng Prisoner? Jane played Belinda Johns in Prisoner, and Glenn Robbins, Lois Collander, Alex Menglet & Althea McGrath all featured in Prisoner as well as on Kath & Kim.
Great interview, "Lurch" was an amazing character. This isn't meant as a snide remark but it's more than interesting that no one from (85-86) mentions Pepe Trevor (Lexie) or Phillip Hyde (Rodney Adams), I often wonder if there was some friction there?
Love how everything fell flat when she said maths was her favourite subject. Wasn't expecting that! LOL She's in the 1% club. Maths is usually the cast's worst subject! 🤣
I like lurch...Lou's is very disappointing not remembering anything about having the privilege being in the most iconic Australian drama series ever..she hated most of her story lines and couldn't remember much...she signed up to play a character in prison..geez..what did she expect..spewing I watched this
I have been to many prisoner reunions and been fortunate to meet a lot of cast and Lois is possibly the most humble and nicest person from the whole cast
Amazing, Who else have you met at the reunions ?
A legend of prisoner, the good old Lurch. Excellent character one of my favourites from the later years of prisoner.
You guys should put Lois as the third host, the 3 of you interviewing prisoner actors would be amazing. Lois has a great memory...
Great idea.
Some of the funniest scenes with Lurch that I recall from revisiting the series recently were:

So lovely so have the warmth of Lois in the show.

Thanks so much for your kind words Billy
The Best so far, how much knowledge Lois remembers from the day....Ken/Matt there needs to be some props or memorabilia brought in to one show.
Thanks so much. We have some exclusive memorabilia launching really soon. Stay tuned.
Highly underrated character in PCBH. Her time in prisoner went from baddie to goodie.
It's great to get some good behind the scenes details from one of Prisoner's biggest stars in the post Bea Smith era, along with Ken who is across the whole series from day 1 until the end!
