    I'm loving mine, having recently done a 2800-mile road trip. Rear seat-backs removed, passenger seat pushed forward, Titan 30-can cooler in the rear floor for a perfect fit, couch cushions set up, and I have a totally flat bed that is super comfortable. My car is over-estimating mpgs too. Lifetime has been around 47.5 actual, car's estimate is about 50.5.

    • @extralock1045
      @extralock1045  Месяц назад +2

      Wow! That is awesome! I put an air mattress in mine. It wasn't perfect, but it worked!
      That is a pretty good lifetime MPG! Do you do a lot of city driving? Do you go fast on the road trips? That is quite good. Most people get about 42.
      My car is over-reading by 3 MPG as well. It says I got 55 MPG, but I actually got 52.3.

    • @OklahomaCoasterFan
      @OklahomaCoasterFan Месяц назад

      @@extralock1045 For the road trips I've done so far, I try to keep it about 65 on the interstates, and I take advantage of 55mph speed limits on minor highways to get great mileage. I always have driven my cars gently. I coast toward red lights, and I don't floor it when the light turns green. If traffic allows, I slowly gain speed. I drive my old car more around the city, but I've done some city driving in the Mirage. My Fit is listed as 33mpg highway, but I've always gotten around 38-41.

    • @waheeb_m
      @waheeb_m Месяц назад +1

      How are you calculating your actual mpg?

    • @extralock1045
      @extralock1045  Месяц назад +2

      @@waheeb_m I get the miles I drive on the tank and divide it by how many gallons I use.
      I actually input it into a website called Ecomodder, and it tracks a lot of neat information. Like how much saved over EPA going off the gas price and other things as well.

    • @OklahomaCoasterFan
      @OklahomaCoasterFan Месяц назад +2

      @@waheeb_m Be sure to fill it all the way up each time, not topping off. It will vary as to when the pump shuts off, but that's why you keep track every time. Get a printed receipt each time and write down on the receipt how many miles you've driven since the last fill-up, then remember to reset your trip odometer. Miles divided by gallons gets you your mpgs. Keep track over time on a simple spreadsheet (or something more sophisticated). I've had a fill-up as low as 38.7, with most ranging from 45 to 52. 47.7 actual over 6070 lifetime miles, car is over-estimating at 50.8.

    These cars are bulletproof. Read the forums, and you'll see owners getting to 300K miles all day long. 200K miles out of the auto trans even. I've owned a 2020 model from new and have 43K miles. I beat the crap out of the suspension on shitty back roads and it still drives straight as an arrow.

    • @extralock1045

      Mine drives very straight as well and I have bottomed it out several times. And the CVT will last a very long time if you change the fluid and filters on it. :-) just every 30,000 miles or less.

    Great review! A yellow interior to match the yellow exterior would be awesome! Apart from the superior fuel economy, another benefit that the Mirage has over the Yaris/Fit/Rio is that you can still buy the Mirage brand new, which means it comes with the legendary industry leading 10 year powertrain warranty and 2 years of free maintenance! People also don't realize how much fun it is to drive a small light weight car like the Mitsubishi Mirage!

    Climing mountin and steep hills in low rpm puts a lot of pressure on piston rings, as you have to use more throttle and regular D mode is basically eco mode, it will keep RPM low as a priority, higher rpm will take presure off piston rings when going up a steep incline and give more power without constant pressure.
    When changing oil, go by colour 3k and below, doo it yourself and a million times better and always use synthetic.
    Ofcourse this is jux tips of what has helped me, is optional 😮

    • @extralock1045
      @extralock1045  2 месяца назад

      0W20 is always synthetic! (:
      Some say higher RPM is better, some say it isn't. I go off the idea of, 2,000 RPM at 35 MPH is fine, but if it's 2,000 RPM at like 25 MPH, I let off the throttle some, as it's bogging down at that speed.
      Do you have a Mitsubishi Mirage? If so, how many miles is on it?

    • @Isaiah-ry7rg
      @Isaiah-ry7rg 2 месяца назад

      @extralock1045 ii have a mitsubishi Lancer 5 speed manual 08 153k miles, if you feel is bogging down, you need to downshift but sence it's a cvt the Ds mode is made to help with that, all ice engine , internal combustion engines, have this on them, some more than others, mitsubishi as for past 2 decades like to put max torque at approx 4k rpm max hp approx 6k rpm respectively.
      If you look at power torque on a Dino, you will see.
      Don't be afraid to up rpm when you need to if it meens for you car to last longer, it's made for it, just remember to keep up with the maintenance and check it like a mama check baby dipers 😮

      Mirages are very reliable... but every car has that monday hangover issue where once in a while, you just get a bad car. Before buying my first Mirage last year, I asked everybody driving around one, how did they like the car. There was a 2014 Kiwi Green one driven by an old guy... I asked him and he said greatest car he ever had... it had some transmission issues and a couple other issues at about 60k, but the dealer put a new motor and trans in it, and he said every time it had a problem they fixed it up free of charge. He was glowing. Everybody else I asked said its never been in the shop except for brakes and tires. I had an 14 outlander and at 98k it needed a wheel bearing... they brought it in the shop, replaced it no questions asked... I suppose it depends on the dealer, but Mitsubishi seems to warranty their stuff fairly decent. If you have a 5 speed Mirage, perhaps those available parts might be harder to get... but otherwise I don't see a problem.

      Also did they replace the filters in the transmission when they service it? They are supposed to take the pan off clean the magnets replace the pan filter and the cartridge filter which is behind the driver tire. A lot of dealers don't even know about the cartridge filter. And when they do change the filter usually they just changed the pan filter. But most dealers don't even recommend that and they don't even change the filters. Then the filter clogged up and over time that wrecks the transmission.
